### 4/5 — Better

*2026-08-16, version 5.0.0*

The prior version was slow and glitchy. The latest iteration is a significant improvement in virtually every way.

### 2/5 — Biased Reporting

*2026-08-04, version 5.0.0*

The PD and Cleveland.com have fallen prey to the affliction of TDS. I am no fan of President Trump, but our only print news source in Northeast Ohio has swung far left. If only we could see both sides from a local perspectve.

### 4/5 — New format

*2026-08-03, version 5.0.0*

I’m still working my way around the site’s new format. I was happy with the old one, but I’m sure this will
Just take some getting used to.

### 2/5 — Buggy

*2026-07-24, version 5.0.0*

It’s great that you added an ability to enlarge text. But you didn’t actually bother to test it. Otherwise you’d see that titles don’t actually wrap to fit the mobile window properly.

Local community news (sun messenger, for example) is still really hard to find. I’d think a local newspaper would make it easy to find local news.

And if I’m paying for this why are you serving ads? :(

### 4/5 — Uninstall, reinstall

*2026-06-26*

I was having a lot of trouble with this app. It was really slow to load, and sometimes it wouldn’t do that. Made sure it was updated, didn’t help. This went on for months. Finally, uninstalled and then reinstalled. Works normally so far.

### 2/5 — Hello? Developers?

*2026-05-12, version 4.5.11*

This is the worst app on my phone in terms of performance. Any time you click on something, there’s a waiting period before it responds. You’ll think it didn’t register your tap and you do it again only to find out that it was just delayed and now, because of the 2nd tap, you’re in a story you never meant to click on.

### 2/5 — Their app works HORRIBLY

*2026-04-15, version 4.5.9*

Click on an article and it’ll either throw you back to your Home Screen, spin for a long time and then say “fetching post”, make you wait some more, then either throw you back to Home Screen, bring up the wrong article or - oh so rarely - bring up the right article. I’ve written to the 5 times about this. No one helps, no one cares.

### 2/5 — Extremely slow

*2026-03-08, version 4.5.9*

The app is incredibly slow to respond. You tap an item, and you may have to wait 5-10 seconds for a response. You’re better off using the website.

### 1/5 — SLOW, VERY SLOW!!

*2026-02-28, version 4.5.9*

The app takes minutes to open. Latest updates have made it garbage to open it and use it quickly. Please fix this issue already

### 3/5 — Slow to respond

*2026-02-16, version 4.5.8*

This isn’t about the content but about the app itself.

You click to open the app and you have to sit there staring at nothing until it finally loads. You click on a category in the menu and nothing happens. Thinking it didn’t register the click, you do it again and find yourself in a story. That’s because it did register the click, it was just really slow to load, and you’ve inadvertently clicked on a story. So you have to back out and do it again.

### 2/5 — Poor performance

*2026-02-13, version 4.5.8*

Seems to lockup my iPhone. Affects other apps too with sluggishness until I kill it.

### 1/5 — Slower than molasses in January

*2026-01-30, version 4.5.8*

Takes forever to load.

### 2/5 — Keeps crashing

*2026-01-11, version 4.5.7*

I have a tough time getting the app to load then once loaded it crashes. Being out of town I still enjoy the writer’s but it’s getting tough to continue using.

### 1/5 — Zero customer support

*2025-12-21, version 4.5.6*

I’ve emailed three times my Content will not download. I’ve done everything to try to fix it.
Though I will say they are very good at charging you every month even though this is the worst app ever. I live out of town. It’s the only reason I’ve put up with it so that I can read about the city I love but it’s time to cancel the subscription.

### 4/5 — iPad

*2025-12-06, version 4.5.5*

Long time user of app, primarily because of sports teams. But this app is the most clunky, frustrating app I use as a paying subscriber. The channel selection works once, then I have to get out of app and go back in. One thing that always works great though is their offers for discounted subscriptions and ads.

### 1/5 — Nope

*2025-09-12, version 4.4.42*

Too liberal. Can’t stand it anymore.

### 1/5 — SLOW, VERY SLOW!!

*2025-08-25, version 4.4.41*

The app takes minutes to open. Latest updates have made it garbage to open it and use it quickly.

### 1/5 — Less than mediocre.

*2024-10-31, version 4.4.27*

Lots of annoyances, but perhaps the biggest one is that when you click on a another story below the one you just read, the link takes you out of the app to a browser and wants you to sign in there. Utterly ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Still needs work

*2024-09-07, version 4.4.21*

All these years and this app still locks up my iPad. This seems to happen as it loads advertising while scrolling thru the articles. I understand ads are needed to keep costs down for subscribers (like me) But you think they would fix this so I use the app more. Frustrating…

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — What used to be free…. Ain’t no more

*2026-08-17, version 5.0.0*

Sucks the entire website cost $$ used to like keeping in touch with a city I came to love after years of traveling to but never lived in… sad but oh well

### 1/5 — Excessive cost

*2026-08-10, version 5.0.0*

I have far too many interests to pay this much to read Cleveland sports news. I’ll just take what I can get for free elsewhere.

### 1/5 — The worst

*2026-08-07, version 5.0.0*

Unless your a subscriber do not download this app. Every article is behind a paywall.

### 1/5 — New App

*2026-07-30, version 5.0.0*

I wish I could go back to the old format. It was so easy to navigate. The new app is very frustrating. If I could give it a zero, I would.
I will not be renewing Cleveland.com

### 1/5 — WHY HAVE YOU CHANGED THE APP??? It’s terrible

*2026-07-30, version 5.0.0*

Please change it back

### 1/5 — Nope

*2026-07-07, version 4.5.11*

not even going to complain about how much of it is behind a paywall now. That part I get. The part that makes this app so bad is that it frequently crashes without even opening, and when it does open moves painfully slow.

### 1/5 — Keeps getting worse.

*2026-06-29, version 4.5.11*

6/29/26: Months after the below review, is that it’s gotten worse! I will keep dating comments to keep track.

I really want support local news coverage, but Cleveland dot com wants to chase me away. Aside from the poor news coverage and an increasing reliance on AI slop, the app is less and less functional. When my subscription is up, I’m done.

### 1/5 — Worst app by far

*2026-06-02, version 4.5.11*

The 1 star is for content, which I enjoy and pay for. What’s frustrating part is this app doesn’t let you get to the content. It’s slow, locks up and constantly tests your patience to use.

### 1/5 — Keeps getting worse.

*2026-05-23, version 4.5.11*

I really want support local news coverage, but Cleveland dot com wants to chase me away. Aside from the poor news coverage and an increasing reliance on AI slop, the app is less and less functional. When my subscription is up, I’m done.

### 1/5 — Slowest app ever

*2026-05-20, version 4.5.11*

It takes forever to launch and load pages.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The Plain Dealer

*2026-09-06, version 5.0.0*

I am disabled and paralyzed from the shoulders down. This document enables me to follow my preferred sports teams in Cleveland—the Browns, the Cavaliers, and the Guardians. Engaging in reading provides me with significant enjoyment, particularly given my condition. It is now imperative for the Browns to achieve success. I hope that their recent efforts yield positive results. Deshaun Watson should be given the opportunity to demonstrate his leadership capabilities and guide the team toward victories, including potential progression to the playoffs and the Super Bowl. Sanders is anticipated to become a starting player for the Cleveland Browns; his opportunity will arrive in due course. As supporters, it is essential to trust management in making appropriate decisions, and regardless of the outcomes, we will continue to support our team because that is the commitment of dedicated Cleveland Browns fans. The team aims for victory, and the selection of the best players is based on their performance. The performances of the current starters will determine who merits a starting position and who should serve as backups. I have no intention of influencing team decision-making; my primary desire is to see the team succeed. I leave the coaching staff to make the final decisions, and we will support the team regardless of the lineup, as we share a common goal of winning. As fans, we will hold management accountable for their decisions, which is a fundamental aspect of responsible sports fandom.

### 5/5 — Terrible site

*2021-10-19, version 4.1.11*

Second time I subscribed to read about all my fav Cleveland teams. But Every time I try to read a subscriber story, I have to sign in and even then it won’t let me read the article and keeps taking me back to the sign in page. This is the second time this has happened, same issues. So, for the second time, I’ll cancel my subscription. This app blows.

### 5/5 — Information a plenty

### 5/5 — Born in Cleveland

*2019-11-16, version 3.7.24*

Even though I haven’t lived in Cleveland for almost 50 years I enjoy keeping up with the news and the Indians and Browns.

### 5/5 — Can no longer just view all sports articles

*2019-10-28, version 3.7.22*

For some reason in the new update I can no longer just choose Sports to see all sports articles. I have to choose each subcategory individually.

### 5/5 — Love it!!
