I see where you are supposed to be able to “go back” if you want your dog to repeat the prior challenge, my app has no such feature!! I have also had many issues with the unit itself and my last question sent to them was over a week ago, still no response!! This is why when they asked if I would be interested in purchasing their new model coming out I replied NO!! Don’t waste your money! ### 2/5 — My dog is super sad she can’t use her toy *2020-06-27, version 1.1.2* Like, actually depressed. She loves the CleverPet and remembers very well how to use it even though it hasn’t been functioning correctly for over a year because of network connectivity issues. She starts desperately trying buttons if I so much as touch the unit. As of April, app support person Vlad said there would be an update within only a “couple of weeks” to fix compatibility issues with newer OS systems and network connectivity. It’s nearly July. Doesn’t look like anything has changed. Huge outlay of money for a toy that has just sat next to her crate for over a year without being used. And sad dogs are the SADDEST. 🥺 I hope the developers can actually update the app to keep it usable for those of us who have dogs who adore this thing. My pup and I would send you a thank you card. Because when it works - CleverPet is awesome. Please, guys? ### 1/5 — I can tell the developers don’t care anymore *2020-03-07, version 1.1.2* This hub and app was pretty great. Set it and forget it. Recently I changed my home Wi-Fi network and nothing has worked ever since. The app probably doesn’t work with updated iPhones and you can’t get anyone to assist. I have tried setting it up with two different iPhones 8 and X. Neither can connect to the photon network that the app tells you to connect to and then it does nothing. Disconnect and connect again to try. Over it. Don’t buy this as it will become a very expensive toy that the developers do not support in fixing wifi issues. ### 2/5 — This needs to be updated *2020-01-01, version 1.1.2* My hub is now somewhat useless as the app doesn’t account for iPhone 10 or higher when setting up the Wifi. I changed my Wifi name and now cannot connect the hub to the internet until I borrow an older phone with a physical home button. Two years since the last update? What’s going on? ### 2/5 — Not a lot of effort put into the support side *2019-11-10, version 1.1.2* I’ve had my hub for a few years now and let me tell you when something goes wrong and you need to get in contact with someone they don’t always respond in a timely manner. For about a week or more I’ve been running it offline. I have reached out a few times to the help team and have heard no response. The crazy thing is there are times when all it takes is the flip of a switch!!!! I know this bc one of the girls said “oh we just needed to flip a switch on our end!!!” 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’ve began to hate this food dispenser so much bc of how much it disconnects! I go out and come home to find my dog hungry bc it’s not connected or something. ### 2/5 — App needs updating *2019-10-14, version 1.1.2* App has not been updated in well over a year. No support for iPhone X or later. Graphs are difficult to read. Have to restart our CleverPet almost daily due to various glitches. Pros: their support team is helpful and friendly albeit slow to respond. I really want to see this company succeed because my dog loves it and it’s such a great idea but I’m not sure there’s anyone over there making any improvements to it now that the product and app are launched. ### 1/5 — Great product. App needs help *2019-06-30, version 1.1.2* 💯 product App is broken. Changed my WiFi network and tried to get the hub to join the new network by putting it in pairing mode. App crashes every time it finishes joining and never shows up in my account. Awesome. ### 2/5 — Hub is awesome: app is lacking *2018-11-04, version 1.1.2* The app is pretty limited. Doesn’t allow you much control over the device. The setup is confusing. Very disappointed. If the app was improved it would make my whole clever pet experience much better. That being said my pup loves the hub and I love the over all idea. Please make the app better. ### 2/5 — Great hardware with poorly designed app *2018-07-05, version 1.1.2* The CleverPet has been a great way to keep our active, smart dog occupied while we’re away during the day. The hardware is great -- after a year, it has never jammed, and our dog has never broken into it or flipped it over (although she can push it around a bit on the floor). The app, on the other hand, is kind of a mess. It has 3 purposes: 1. Teach you what to expect as your dog learns to use the device. It does a good job at this, with videos and text. 2. Allow you to see stats about your dog’s interactions with it. This functionality is pretty anemic, with the graphs not large enough to make out and not high-resolution enough (values are all daily) to do anything with. 3. A couple of key “reset” functions: tell the device you just put more food in it after it had run out, and move back to the previous stage if you want to decrease the difficulty for your dog. I kind of wish these had just been built into the hardware itself (especially the first one, because now I have to have my phone with me to feed my dog, and adding a sensor to tell when new food has been added seems relatively simple). The app is structured around an activity feed that mixes all the concepts above into one stream of swipeable things, but now that I know how to use the device I kind of wish it was just two buttons and a graph, and the videos were hidden away somewhere else. ### 2/5 — Good device, bad app *2017-12-06, version 1.1.0* The concept and hardware are good, the pup loves it, but this software is rough. It’s like a 90s website not an app. ### 1/5 — On boarding failed and support is unresponsive *2017-11-16, version 1.1.0* This is pretty ridiculous. The device failed to connect to WiFi and I tried getting help. There’s a link to chat with an agent, the “customer support happiness lead”, but she must’ve taken an early thanksgiving break because she’s completely unresponsive. Theres also a phone number, but that goes directly to voicemail ### 1/5 — App crashes *2017-08-11, version 1.0.6* The app crashes every time I try to go through the setup process. It's start to blink green and goes through the checklist and then crashes. I've tried it 3 times. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — No longer supported? *2024-03-21, version 1.1.2* Fun device for our dog but no longer able to use app to change the WiFi network which makes it useless now that we’ve moved. Please update the app so it works with the latest iOS! ### 1/5 — Great hardware incredibly frustrating app *2023-06-10, version 1.1.2* CleverPet are great if you can get the app and the software to work. I’ve been through customer service several times and has been pretty mediocre helping out. ### 1/5 — Developers won’t fix this app, want your money for their new product *2022-11-25, version 1.1.2* The developers have stopped supporting this app, yet started a new company where they take your money (FluentPet). While my hardware still works fine, as many others have noted, there is no way to connect it to the wifi network due to iOS updates. So now my dog literally lies next it it whimpering while pressing the buttons. Shame on the developers. Fix your existing products before changing your name and grifting more money from your users. ### 1/5 — Bad software, bad service *2021-05-02, version 1.1.2* Software doesn’t work. It took forever to get the support to write me back, all they said was to reset the machine and that the new version fixes the connectivity issue, but it certainly does not. I got this as a gift from an aunt and now both aunt and dog is sad they can’t use it. Also the hardware jammed up often when we were just putting in regular dog food. ### 1/5 — Very poor support *2020-10-14, version 1.1.2* Product was great when it worked. The app has always been a bit rough, but as of last April it no longer works with an iOS device that doesn’t have a home button. Support has said as of 6 months ago an update was due in two weeks. Last time I checked this summer they told me to buy additional parts to make it work (and that an update was still about 2 weeks away then too. Lol). Umm no. The support person, Vlad, is great — but the company is one to stay away from. ### 1/5 — Love the CleverPet, but the app is the weakness *2020-07-19, version 1.1.2* We’ve had our CleverPet for years and our dogs love it. Unfortunately, when I recently moved and had to change the WiFi the app isn’t functioning properly to allow me to reconnect the Hub. It will now only play in offline mode (super easy levels). Unfortunately the app won’t even let me create an account. I messaged support and someone named Vlad said they’re working on an update in the next few weeks, but that was a week and a half ago. After reading the other reviews I don’t think it’s going to happen. :( I really hope they come through because it’s a “clever” idea! ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ *2022-07-18, version 1.1.2* My dog loves using clever pet and plays with it frequently throughout the day! I was sad when i could not get it to reconnect to a new Wi-Fi, however following the software update and thanks to step by step instructions by Brian ( who was very patient and kind despite my lack of technical skills), it up and running through the different levels. Brian took the time to show me how to troubleshoot should there be any issues in the future. ### 5/5 — Best gadget ever!! *2018-03-30, version 1.1.2* By pup is in love with his new game! He is flying by with the challenges and having blast!! ### 5/5 — Great Product, Great App! *2016-10-31, version 1.0* My dog just started using CleverPet and has progressed well into Level 1. The app accompanies it very nicely to breakdown tips, difficulties in gameplay, and scheduling. Tech support is immediate and informative. I would highly recommend CleverPet seeing that my own is intrigued and excited about his new toy. In future updates, I would love to see a widget with some functionality, additional levels, a more thorough time scheduler, and SmartHome integration if possible. Excellent job on the app! ### 4/5 — Great App, Needs Some Tweaks *2017-12-25, version 1.1.2* Really enjoying the app and device so far! Could use some more detail with the charts and info about when you should reset a level based on your dogs performance. I have already sent in a bunch of feedback. Seems like a small growing company and I’m excited to see what comes next! ### 3/5 — My Puppy misses clever pet *2020-03-08, version 1.1.2* For over a year my CleverPet has been slightly more useful than a paperweight (Still works in offline mode). He absolutely loved playing this and made it up to lvl 8 or 9, if I remember correctly, before the app stopped working. Problem was a combination of upgrading my home network and a new version of IOS. The app just doesn’t seem to be worked on any more. As much as this costs I should be mad that we only had it a short while before it stopped working correctly. But really I’m just sad that this company that made an awesome product that is the only toy my pup likes to play with is struggling or going/gone out of business. I hope you guys can find the time to update this app. But even more then that I hope you can pull through and continue to make awesome dog toys. ### 3/5 — Update the App!! *2018-05-04, version 1.1.2* We bought our Clever Pet for Christmas and were really excited. Unfortunately our dog is not as clever as we anticipated and we are still always resetting it to two lights. Boo, disappointed parents (not your fault). Pros: the equipment is super sturdy, holds up well to his pawing and holds plenty of food! Cons: 1. The graphs are awful. There should be a breakdown for just the day instead of the week. I can barely read it.. think FitBit or Garmin dashboard. I want to be able to see what time of day he plays with it, how many tries in a row, etc. 2. When my dog is getting it wrong by selecting the same light over and over again, I wish the hub would not light that pad up so he’s forced to think! ### 3/5 — Good product, clunky app *2017-11-25* I’ve had my CleverPet hub for almost a week now. So far it’s been pretty good. My dog loves it. But the app definitely needs some work. It’s a bit clunky. Could definitely use some improvements. ### 3/5 — Maybe... *2017-06-19, version 1.0.4* Clever Pet has a great idea, but the execution lacks polish. In a perfect app I would be able to choose which game I want my dog to play or set it to automatic. I would also like to see all the games available in a list. Being able to "Go Back" to the previous game is not useful. The feedback on my dog's progress would be useful if the reports were generated in less than a week. As for the machine itself, mine jams All. The. Time. One of my dog's best abilities is the ability to wait while I clean out the obstruction. She's learned to wait patiently while I take the thing apart yet again. Yes, I have tried different food. No, that does not help. It still jams. All. The. Time. In addition, the stutter of the mechanism when it is actually opening seems unnecessary and it's quite irritating. It adds nothing to the learning process except what she already knows, which is wait, wait, wait for the thing to work. I would like to see some way to fasten the actual device to either the floor or to a little platform. I have laminate flooring and it skitters all over the place. I usually sit and hold it for her. I would rather let her do it by herself because if I am that close she looks to me for directions, as she has been taught. It's hard to ignore her when I am holding down the device. For this price it seems to me that the developers owe us some more games, better software, and continued development. After all, isn't Kickstarter set up to grow a business? It seems as if Cleverpet has just thrown this to the consumer without wanting to do the support necessary to make this a great product. ### 3/5 — Great hardware, app needs work *2017-03-27, version 1.0.4* After getting off to a slow start, my dogs have gotten the hang of their Clever Pet, and love doing the puzzles to get food rewards! However, the app does not quite live up to its billing and could use significant improvement. The app splash screen is completely unnecessary. Rather than the "begin" button, the app should simply open up to the home screen. It would also be very helpful to get live updates on your pet's progress and status, rather than having to wait for a report to be generated weekly. The "live updates" provided by the app presently are not very helpful. Finally, multiple pet support would be very useful! I would love to let one dog use the clever pet in the morning, and have the second dog use it in the evening, collecting separate stats for each pet. This should be a straightforward software update that would permit pet switching within the app. ### 2/5 — Stuck in offline mode *2021-01-01, version 1.1.2* My dog absolutely loved his CleverPet, and made it through all the challenges. Unfortunately the CleverPet has been in offline mode for a long time now, and I’m not able to reconnect it through the app. I though it was an issue with my WiFi, but having read some of the recent reviews, it sounds like I’m not the only one having this issue.
