### 2/5 — Great little app…except

*2026-07-28*

I love being able to control my speaker from my desktop while I work. And for that it works great. Until it doesn’t. For whatever reason, it keeps not wanting to “see” my speaker. We have another Sonos user here and THAT one always shows up as the speaker in Clic. Almost every time. I try to set the priority device to my IP address and sometimes that works but now even that has failed. With the app telling me there is no Sonos at the IP address I enter. Despite that being the exact IP address the app shows. So I don’t know what happened. But I’ve just never been able to reliably connect to my speaker.

### 3/5 — Yes but, need Sonos software to work for Clic to work?

*2026-06-05*

In order to get the Clic software to work with playlists, you need to have Sonos software working. The same Sonos software that stopped working 4 - 5 years ago. Clic works at controlling speakers, but as far as a replacement for iTunes or Sonos music app it’s useless.

### 4/5 — Super App

*2026-03-04*

Sehr schöne App. Endlich Sonos ohne Sonos App Steuern, das einzig Coole wäre wenn die Spotify Bedienung etwas intuitiver wäre, mit Playlisten und co.

### 3/5 — Great - except for Spotify

*2026-02-07*

I love the speed and ease of searching and using this app. My only issue is that whenever I try to start a song which is sourced from Spotify it chokes and tells me to contact production support. The song never starts (if there’s already a Spotify album/playlist lined up it’s fine to control start and stop and volume). Not sure if this is a Spotify api issue or with the app.

Fix this and I’ll be happy to upgrade to a 5 star review

### 4/5 — Responsiveness is king

*2026-01-24*

I feel like Clic is so responsive. That probably comes from some smart programming and a lightweight, focused set of objectives. It doesn’t have to do everything the standard Sonos app has to do. Now, if I could only get a sleep timer to be measured in number of songs instead of number of minutes…

### 5/5 — I like

*2025-12-30*

I like the App, a must with no official Sonos App for MacOS. I had a problem with the Menubar app side not showing, and I emailed Nick Haywood and the next day he emailed a solution.

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear you’re not seeing the menu bar app you can search Clic Mini to launch it or open preferences in Clic and launch Clic Mini from there.

It’s included without a subscription as well.

Cheers!
Nick

### 5/5 — Every Sonos owner needs this

*2025-12-17*

TL;DR: Amazing app, worldclass Apple Music integration, amazing dev who made a product better than what Sonos’s entire engineering and design team is able to come up with.
Honestly, a requirement for a Sonos user in 2025. Particularly a fan of the macOS app, but all the versions are super solid. The UI is what the Sonos app should have been redesigned as; it’s super slick and the design is very Apple-like, which I really appreciate over the monstrosity that is the Sonos App. The best part? Somehow, this app manages to load all my music and playlists just as fast as the official Apple Music app. The Sonos app will load for like 5-10 seconds before showing an album. It’s honestly worth the price just for that. (And honestly, it’s worth paying the equivalent of a fast food meal to get a well designed app that is supported and updated by a solo dev to make your $500 paperweights work again.) My only piece of feedback is the new UI for the 26 updates with Liquid Glass. It still looks amazing, but there’s definitely some super minor ui changes that will need to be made to bring it back to looking like a worldclass app. So super minor though. I 100% recommend anyone who has a Sonos product own this app.

### 5/5 — Actual Fast and Searchable Sonos App

*2025-12-14, version 2025.17*

I have always been disappointed by the default Sonos app - difficult to find music in services, jumping to my playlists always requires a ton of scrolling, as well as being slow and clunky. This seems great in comparison so far. Very clean and fast, plus the widgets seem well thought through. Looking forward to seeing how it continues to evolve.

### 5/5 — Very good!

*2025-12-09, version 2025.17*

Excellent app, very smooth and functional. The only problem: when will the Italian language be available?

### 5/5 — Love it

*2025-12-04*

This is an incredible app. For me the best features are the Apple Watch functionality - super fast speaker switching and grouping and adjusting volume with the crown. Wandering round the house, this is the best and quickest way to do it. Even by complication. Also the live activities on iPhone and Watch are incredibly useful, as well as the lock screen widget. All of the above are simply not available using stock Sonos. The Mac interface is clean and I like the blurred/ mirrored now playing screen as well as another plus feature: audio quality in Bits and kHz, not simply ‘Lossless’ etc (you click to reveal). For me, it is well worth the purchase price as I’ll be using it everyday and it enhances my experience. Only thing I want to figure out is how to activate the Clic Mini Menu Bar player. Might email the dev about that. Regardless, it’s a 5* app, really well made and incredibly useful. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — A must have for Sonos users

*2025-11-20, version 2025.17*

I have been pulling my hair out and having numerous evenings ruined because of how insanely wonky and flakey the Sonos app is. Finally decided to look for an alternative et voila, Clic for Sonos appeared. Downloaded it and instantly everything changed. No more constantly having to locate amps and reconfigure my system, no more sudden loss of control of playlists, just because I moved to a different room in the house.

### 5/5 — Volume Control

*2025-11-16*

This app has simple +/- controls for manipulating the volume in single increments instead of the slider that the official SONOS app uses. This alone is worth it for me.

### 3/5 — Too hard to add Amazon

*2025-11-13*

Simple to use but it needs to be much easier to stream Amazon music. I spent ages trying to do it and gave up then deleted the app.

### 3/5 — It’s faulty

*2025-10-15, version 2025.15*

It looks nice, but I think there are faults, there is no Menu Bar Icon, and there is no Menu Bar Window. However you can join the annual subscription and you have a seven day free trial in which you can cancel.

### 2/5 — No mute button?

*2025-10-14*

It’s a simple and pretty good app, far better than the official Sonos app (especially for those of us hanging on to early generation Sonos devices).

But between a weird bifurcation between finding my stuff under a search button and the home button and no mute button — it begins to feel frustratingly limited for my regular use which is not good.

Again, switching between a saved/favorited Sonos station or two and browsing Apple Music is cognitive dissonance every time, and I can’t just mute/unmute. (Which is what I prefer when listening to live news streaming than play/pause.)

**Developer response:** I would love to hear more about your experience and how you might suggest improving it. You can mute from the ellipsis in the top right corner on the player and also unmute by tapping the artwork.

You can reach out to hi@clic.dance if you have more questions.

Cheers!
Nick

### 5/5 — The software companion to Sonos hardware

*2025-09-18, version 2025.14*

If you own a piece of Sonos hardware, but especially if you own *multiple* pieces of Sonos hardware, this is an invaluable tool.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — SIXTY DOLLARS

*2026-02-04, version 2026.1*

This is a joke right?

$2 a month, $15 a year, or $60 for lifetime.
How does anyone come to the conclusion that this application should be priced like this?

### 1/5 — very unhappy

*2025-12-14*

I bought this app for my Sonos system and downloaded it onto my Mac computer and pay the lifetime amount option in full
I rarely use my Mac computer. I use my iPad and my iPhone generally for Sonos.
The app is not able to be used on iPhone or iPad without re-purchasing it this is a major flaw that it cannot be shared across devices
very unhappy customer

**Developer response:** Sorry about your experience this was a server side issue that has been resolved. Please reach out to hi@clic.dance if you need further help.

Cheers!
Nick

### 1/5 — This doesn’t work

*2025-11-01*

I attempted to download this and set it up, not easy to use or user friendly. As I have then tried to delete it from my computer it will not allow me. What a waste of my time and energy

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-09-27*

Cycling through songs about one per second but never plays them

### 1/5 — Got this via ad on Six Colors; not ready for prime time

*2025-05-25*

The iPhone app crashed my phone, asked to have Apple Music authorized in Sonos (which it already was), didn’t register the in-app purchase. The macOS app is non-functional. Terrible experience. Will also complain to Six Colors about running this as an ad/sponsorship.

### 1/5 — Apple Watch app doesn’t work

*2025-05-14, version 2024.37*

Apple Watch app doesn’t work … bought for this purpose and it doesn’t seem to function. Very disappointed.

### 1/5 — NOT working!!

*2025-05-06*

This app stinks! Not working and wants you to upgrade to Super Clic for $ & that’s not working either!! UGH!!

### 1/5 — “Please authorise Apple Music in Sonos”

*2025-04-27*

Couldn’t get the app to play anything from Apple Music. Just got the pop up telling me to authorise. Even after I took a deep breath and launched the Sonos app (which I wanted to avoid, hence trying this app) and actually started playing a song from Apple Music. Going back into the app I could see my speaker playing a song from Apple Music, but when I tried to play something else, I got the pop up again. So this app is useless to me.

### 1/5 — Ne fonctionne plus après 24h

*2025-04-25*

### 1/5 — Didn’t work for me

*2025-03-18, version 2025.3*

Can’t recommend this app for Mac. I had to uninstall the same day when I noticed that I couldn’t use my arc sound bar because the same clic app keeps disconnecting

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — At last!

*2026-06-08, version 2026.4*

Searching for a Sonos controller integrated with Apple devices. Found it!
Iphone, ipad and Apple watch! Thank you Nick!

### 5/5 — Everything the Sonos app should be!!!

*2026-06-01*

I’m still getting familiar with Clic for Sonos, but it is incredibly better than the state of the Sonos app as of May 2026. Clic is agnostic as to whether you’re using a system with older Sonos equipment or newer Sonos equipment that requires the newer Sonos 2 app - I tested and proved this by going into a home yesterday that was using 6 older Connect:Amps and 2 Play 5 speakers (requiring the old Sonos 1 app) and music on a NAS vs my own system that uses the Sonos 2 app. Clic works on both.

Anyone frustrated with using the Sonos app should try Clic for Sonos on their own system. It brings back the pleasure of controlling music playback thru Sonos.

### 5/5 — Embarrasses the SONOS app

*2026-05-21*

Inspiring what a small thoughtful, diligent, motivated dev team can do. Sonos should hang their heads in shame. Or alternatively just back a truck full of money to this team and make it their official app.

One small nitpick is that there’s one too many UI flourishes here and there. I’d remove the numbers from the volume sliders for example. And the rooms pop-up that duplicates the sidebar functionality is redundant IMO. But I’m really stretching to find faults.

It’s rock solid. Supports all native Mac OS touches like widgets. What more do you want?

### 5/5 — Great Sonos Add-on!

*2026-04-27*

I appreciate this tool for giving me Sonos controls from my Mac and Apple TV. One suggestion for the Mac would be to allow the arrow keys to be used to control volume, next and previous.

### 5/5 — Finally! Everything SONOS used to do and more!

*2026-03-15*

We have3 SONOS systems and I no longer have to figure out which SONOS APP to open. Clic acts as my preferred “universal” app and it does a clean intuitive job of bringing out all the elements I need and use most. The Apple Watch integration actually works and it works well! Mac version installs without asking for prior versions to be removed or security conflicts. Thank You so much for cleaning up my SONOS world. I Love the SCENES and use several daily.

### 5/5 — Has become great

*2026-03-08*

A great thanks to the developer for continuing to improve the app. Back when I first tried it, it was still buggy and I preferred the SONOS app but it showed promise. Now Clic clearly has made better UI/UX choices, integrated various streaming services and seems far more stable.

I now made the switch - even after SONOS mostly fixed the issues with their own app.

I am still dreaming of something that would allow me to completely use SONOS without the forced login from SONOS in their app. But lets see what the future holds.

### 5/5 — Never going back

*2026-02-01, version 2026.1*

Masterful blend of original functionality and intuitive innovations. Works across S1 and S2 and interfaces perfectly with my Apple Watch. Refinements keep coming swiftly. 5 STARS+

### 5/5 — Das macht wieder Spaß

*2026-01-23*

Hayward zeigt, was geht. Vielen Dank 🙏

### 5/5 — This is the app Sonos should have made

*2026-01-14*

Better than the Sonos app in every way I can think of! I love that it’s a proper native Mac app, and supports all the things you’d expect on Apple platforms like widgets and live activities.

### 5/5 — Way better than Sonos macOS app

*2026-01-05, version 2025.18*

The official Sonos macOS app has started hanging for me constantly over last few months, making it unusable. I was seriously considering giving up on Sonos completely and purchasing new speakers. Clic is way more reliable, and even with some UX quirks, it gets the job done, which has saved the whole setup for me.
