## What is Clickwheel?

A music player that only plays music.

No account. No streaming. No recommendations, no ads, no notifications from
the app. Just your own music and a wheel that clicks.

THE WHEEL
No slider, no buttons: your finger circles the surface, and every few
degrees it notches – audibly and, if you like, physically. It reads the
angle to the centre rather than the distance travelled, so a tight circle
near the middle feels exactly like a wide one at the edge. Click sound and
vibration can each be switched off.

YOUR MUSIC
Add tracks with "Add files" or "Add folder". Whole collections are quicker
through the Files app: open the app's folder, drop your music into "media",
then tap "Check library" in the app. Title, artist, album, genre and artwork
are read from the files' own tags; without them the filename becomes the
title.

QUIET LISTENING
Focus mode hides the status bar so nothing on screen competes with the
music, and it can keep the display awake. For real quiet, add a Shortcuts
automation: "When app is opened" – turn on a Focus.

ENTIRELY OFFLINE
The app never asks for a network. It collects nothing, measures nothing,
sends nothing. There are no accounts and no servers.

ALSO
• Artists, albums, songs, genres
• Background playback
• Sleep timer, clock, stopwatch
• MP3, M4A, AAC, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, OGG, Opus

FULL VERSION
The app is free to use and free of ads; two case colours are included. A
one-time purchase unlocks playlists and the five remaining case colours. No
subscription, no running costs.

For everyone who owns their music instead of renting it – and wants to be
left alone while listening.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.1.4 — 2026-10-03

The wheel sits straight

The two arrows sat a little below the centre line — a leftover from an earlier version of the wheel. All four symbols now sit where the buttons are: top, bottom, left, right.

### 1.1.3 — 2026-10-02

The display as it was meant to be

A title bar with a gradient and a battery indicator, a blue selection bar, filled arrows: the menus now look like the device they echo instead of a plain list.

The wheel has gone smooth — no notches at the rim, no pointer. It sits calmer under your finger, and the app redraws less with every move.

### 1.1.2 — 2026-10-01

Clickwheel is a music player now

The video section is gone — and with it the permission to read videos.

Fixed: buying or restoring could hang silently when the store did not answer; now it says so. Covers are unpacked in the background while your library is read, so the progress no longer stutters. After switching languages the app returns to the main menu instead of showing half-translated screens.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-22

No release notes.
