## What is Climbing & Partners?

Cactux is the climbing app built in Mexico: community guidebooks, offline walking navigation to the boulder, and the partners to go climbing with.

Download a guidebook before you leave and use all of it at the crag with no signal. Walk to the block along the real approach trail, not a straight line. And if you have an Apple Watch, wear it.

AT THE CRAG

• Offline navigation — Follow the approach trail to a boulder or a route. Works with no data and no coverage.
• Apple Watch — Send a sector to your wrist and move around the area without pulling out your phone. Mark points and record trails from the watch.
• Topos — Photos of the wall with the lines drawn on them, plus grades, quality and description.
• Sector maps — Boulders and routes colored by grade, with parking, trails and your own saved points.
• Offline mode — Download the guidebook, photos and map tiles. It all lives on your phone.

GRADES THE WAY YOU READ THEM

• Convert between V-scale, Font, YDS and French. Pick your system and the whole app follows it — without touching what the first ascensionist wrote.

PARTNERS

• Find climbers — A map of climbers near you, with their grades, goals and availability.
• Sessions — Propose a quick outing, rock or gym, and get it confirmed.
• Trips — Plan longer ones: invitations, join requests, shared expenses, gear lists, carpooling and the forecast for the destination.
• Follow climbers and see what they're sending.
• Messaging — One inbox for all of it.

ALSO

• Log your ascents — offline too — rate quality and suggest a grade.
• Community — Photos, videos and notes from climbers who've been there, per climb, sector or whole guidebook.
• Events — Festivals, comps and meet-ups from the community.
• News and videos from the climbing world.
• In English and Spanish.

Develop routes or write guidebooks? Publish yours at cactux.app and share it with the community.

Cactux started in Guadalcázar and keeps growing: El Salto, Cañón de San Lorenzo, Sierra del Sarnoso and more. Missing your area? Get in touch.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.9.0 — 2026-08-20

Cactux 2.9.0 — multi-pitch routes from your phone, pitch by pitch.

FOR EVERYONE
• Report content — A comment, a reply, a logged ascent, a community photo or video, a guidebook photo and a whole guidebook each carry their own "Report" entry in the (...) menu. Before, you could only report the account behind it.
• Partners — Deep-water solo, ice, via ferrata and aid are now climbing types you can put on your profile and filter by. And a profile listing a type your version doesn't know yet no longer takes the card down.
• Picking a grade in the filters is a wheel now: the list no longer jumps back to your selection just before your tap lands.
• A queued post whose file is gone can now be discarded, instead of sitting at "Uploading… 0%" forever.

FOR GUIDEBOOK AUTHORS
• Multi-pitch — Write a multi-pitch route from the phone: name, grade, length, bolts, anchor type and crux per pitch, reorderable by drag.
• Each pitch draws its own line on the topo, colored from its own grade. The pitch bar tells you which one you're drawing and ticks off the ones that already have a line.
• The route's headline grade, bolt count and length come from its pitches — hardest pitch, summed totals — so you no longer enter them twice.
• And a half-drawn route explains itself when you read it: the fullscreen strip lists every pitch the route claims and dims the ones with no line yet.

### 2.8.0 — 2026-08-18

Cactux 2.8.0 — search every climb, and publish your guidebook without a laptop.

FOR EVERYONE
• Search climbs — Find any route or boulder across every published guidebook from the Guides tab. Open it, or log your send right there, instead of going guidebook to sector to block.
• Topos now zoom where your fingers are, not at the center of the photo. And a pinch no longer drags the view by accident.
• A climb with no scale recorded now infers one from its own grade instead of assuming French, so a 5.10a no longer shows up as something nobody wrote.
• A queued video no longer gets lost if you close the app before it finishes uploading.

FOR GUIDEBOOK AUTHORS
The whole guidebook is now managed from your phone. No more "that part needs a computer".
• Publish, archive or delete your guidebook from the phone.
• Collaborators — Invite whoever should be editing with you, right there at the crag, and manage their permissions. Invitations open in the app.
• Zones — Put a climb or topo into a zone, or take it out of all of them. That was web-only before, so anything you created on the phone landed in "Sin agrupar" with no way to file it.
• And each zone now records its aspect, sun exposure and best seasons: questions you answer standing in the zone at two in the afternoon, not at a desk.
• Drag to reorder a sector's topos and a guidebook's trails.
• Duplicate a climb, or let AI draft its description for you.
• Remove a climb's photo without having to replace it, and fix the author and climber credits.
• Trails — Approach and climbing trails listed separately, ranked by how close they actually are to the sector.
• Delete routes, boulders, sectors, photos, trails and zones. It all queues offline and syncs when you're back.

### 2.7.1 — 2026-08-15

Cactux 2.7.1 — better sharing, scrolling and commenting.

COMMUNITY
• Sharing to Instagram works — your ascent card goes over as an image, without the error that used to stop it.
• Endless media — reaching the last video loads more on its own, and once you've seen the whole sector it starts over. No more leaving full screen to keep watching.
• Notes are comments now — the same wall, called what everyone already called it.
• Two tabs instead of four: Comments puts ascents and comments in one thread, and Media stays on its own.

MESSAGES
• Your compa conversations now show under Perfil too, tagged "Compa" — tapping one takes you to the Compas tab, where you can propose a session and leave a review.

### 2.7.0 — 2026-08-14

Cactux 2.7.0 — the community, on video.

COMMUNITY
• Full-screen media — the Media tab is now a grid, and tapping a photo or a video opens it full screen: it starts on its own and you swipe from one to the next.
• A scrubber to find the moment in a video, and each thumbnail now shows how long the clip runs.
• A whole guidebook's or sector's activity on one screen — ascents, notes, photos and videos, without opening block by block.
• Each climb's wall sits at the foot of its own page: yours first, everyone else's below. And you can post a photo or a note from the buttons up top, without scrolling to the end.
• Fixes: a video that sat on its poster now starts; the like, comment and save buttons no longer toggle the sound; and a text-only note stops hanging on "Uploading note…" forever.

ASCENTS
• Log them with no signal — record a send at the crag and it uploads by itself when you're back online. It shows up in your list right away, marked as pending.
• A card to share — logging a send builds a card with the climb's photo, its line, the grade and your name, in light or dark. Share it as an image.
• The quality rating you'd already given no longer gets cleared when the read fails.

SHARING
• Share a climb as its cactux.app link. And opening a link like that with Cactux installed takes you straight to the climb in the app.

PROFILE
• Notifications and Messages sit under your name, each with its own count.
• Review your guidebook's photos and videos from the app — it used to be web only.

AUTHORING
• Averaged coordinates — the location button folds several GPS readings together instead of keeping the first one, and shows you the ±N m as it settles.
• Clearing a climb's coordinates finally clears them.
• A connection hiccup no longer shelves what you wrote offline; it retries on its own.

ALSO
• Smaller markers on cover topos, on the card and full screen alike.

Thanks for climbing with Cactux.

### 2.6.0 — 2026-08-12

Cactux 2.6.0 — topos.

TOPOS
• Turn the phone — a sector topo is a wide wall, and now you see it lengthwise, full screen.
• Tapping the photo works again — a line, an anchor or a number tells you which climb it is. It wasn't responding before.
• Line list — every climb on the topo in order, with its number and its grade. Find "the 5.12 on the left" without guessing.
• Smaller markers on cards — you see the rock, not a pile of white dots.

PROJECTS
• A project no longer reads like a grade: open projects in teal and closed ones in amber, with a striped line and a note that it belongs to someone else.

REFERENCE LINES
• Variants and neighboring lines on the climb's own photo — and now you can draw them from the phone, not just the web.

ALSO
• The community grade shows up in lists when it differs from the guidebook's.
• Log a route as a variant or an extension of another.
• Climb names use the whole line — no more "Calpu…" with half a row empty beside it.
• Fixes for your partner profile and a trip's forecast.

Thanks for climbing with Cactux.
