## What is Cloister?

Cloister locks the apps and websites that pull you away, and holds the line until you're done.

Pick what distracts you: social media, videos, games or any other app, whole app categories, and websites. Choose when: on a schedule that starts on its own, such as weekdays from 9 to 5, or only when you tap Start. Then choose how the block may end:

• Flexible: end it with one tap.
• Cooldown: end early after a 5-minute wait, long enough for the urge to pass.
• Strict: no exit inside Cloister. The block runs to its end.

Need more time? Add 15 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour to a running block, in Cloister or from the Lock Screen. Added time can't be taken back, so a block only ever gets longer.

Any block can also stop apps from being deleted while it runs. When you open a blocked app, Cloister's shield covers it. A running block shows on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, and you can start one from Control Center, the Lock Screen or the Action Button. If you allow notifications, Cloister tells you a minute before a schedule starts and when a block ends.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Cloister uses Apple's Screen Time API. The apps you pick reach Cloister only as tokens it cannot turn into names, and your rules, lists and history stay on your device. There is no account and no tracking. After its first check, blocking works offline.

Cloister runs on iPhone and iPad.

CLOISTER PRO
Making lists and rules is free. Running blocks needs Cloister Pro: a monthly or yearly subscription, where the yearly plan starts with a 2-week free trial if you are eligible, or a one-time Lifetime purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you turn off renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel them in your Apple Account settings.

• Strict blocks now start with one press from Control Center, the Lock Screen or the Action Button, like the others.
• The Start a block control in Control Center now shows its icon and starts your block.
• A thinner ring in the Dynamic Island.

### 1.2 — 2026-10-22

• Optimized for iPhone Duo: Cloister works on both displays, closed or open, in every pose and in Split View.
• Open like a book, your blocks sit on either side of the fold.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-20

• Scheduled blocks now appear on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island when they start, even with Cloister closed.
• A strict rule's change or deletion that waits until tomorrow now shows on the rule, and you can cancel it.
• Long rule names no longer push the countdown onto a second line.
• Better layouts on smaller iPhones and in landscape.
