### 3/5 — CFI assistant doesn’t live up to the hype

*2025-06-03, version 6.3.10*

I used this app during training and found it useful, so I upgraded to the version with the CFI assistant when I started instructing. The problem is that the grading is terrible. Doing a short field landing? The CFI assistant will dock the score because the approach speed was too low. Power-off 180? Descent rate too high. Finish a chandelle just above stall speed? CloudAhoy will give you a low score for being too slow. Bank angles and headings calculated by CloudAhoy are routinely different from what I observe in the plane.

The scoring just doesn’t line up with ACS standards or reality, and I will not be renewing unless they make some major improvements.

### 4/5 — Information

*2022-03-05, version 6.3.2*

Greetings, how are you? I am curious about this APP, but I would like to know what the cost of the subscription is since the explanation says that it is free for 35 days and then you must pay, but if you do not specify the price, how can people know the cost of what is going down?

### 2/5 — Hate this update.

*2017-03-01, version 5.00.0*

Loved the previous version. The new update is kinda lousy at least on my iphone. The sharing feature is not worth the effort to share. The display with the lay overs sucks and the information is all jumbled. Not the best effort from a great development team. Maybe try to restore the app back to the way it was.

### 5/5 — Great app for pilots

*2015-11-16, version 3.7*

This app is great for pilots, helps you review your flights and see your flight track and keeps track of all aspects of your flight with all the info you could possibly need. A few suggestions would be though is an integration with iWatch to start your flight so you can have the phone stored securely while you fly, also it would be great to be able to add the airplane type (Cessna 172, ect) so it fills in the relevant info about the airplane like speeds automatically, the option is there for type but you can't enter it in.

### 5/5 — Great tool

*2014-07-08, version 3.1*

This app is an amazing tool for a flight instructor to de-brief the flight. I'm amazed by the performance and the precision.

### 4/5 — X-Plane integration-- awesome

*2014-03-22, version 3.3*

Love the x-plane integration.

Could use in-app 3-D playback from pilot's view and more features working on iPhone.

### 5/5 — Great for CFI's

*2014-01-24, version 3.1*

This is turning out to be an extremely useful tool for debriefing students.

### 2/5 — Too Expensive

*2013-11-22, version 3.0*

This is a fun app to review your flight from taxi & take off to land and shut down. But the new subscription rate is horribly expensive. There is no way the functionality of this app is the same value as apps like Foreflight or WingX etc at the same price. I've hit the "delete" button.

### 3/5 — Fun app

*2013-11-20, version 3.0*

It's a fun app, but with the news that it's going subscription based, it's just not (yet) useful enough in a training environment to justify the cost.

### 4/5 — Don't know

*2013-09-23, version 2.4*

I used to use this app with my iPhone 4. It was amazing that the app can analyze the maneuvers I'm doing with my training. But ever since I started to use it on my iPhone 5, it just somehow doesn't work. I can see the app transmitting data, but when I log in to the website, it will say "insufficient data for debrief". Can anyone tell me is it my phone or is it something to do with iPhone 5?

### 4/5 — Great app

*2013-08-22, version 2.4*

Do everything you need to debrief your flights. Automatically your flight will be divided by segments like R or L traffic pattern, go arounds, takeoffs, landings, taxi time. For those who rent the aircraft, you can see air time and ground time difference and compare with Hobbs.

The only stuff not so good is app doesn't allow to review the flights by itself you need to use a internet browser.

Recommend!

### 5/5 — Great program

*2013-07-30, version 2.4*

Worked great for me first time I used it. Was easy to understand and connect to track a flight from Arlington WA to Stuart Island and back to Arlington WA.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — This was a 5-star favourite of mine

*2025-05-26, version 6.3.10*

Recent updates have the app glitching and failing to load.
Worse still, my iPad mini will no longer playback 3D. It worked before, who messed up Apple's iPadOS, or CloudAhoy?
Please fix this.

### 1/5 — POS

*2020-03-06, version 5.06*

Unresponsive, incomprehensible, POS. Waste of time.

### 1/5 — Communication error

*2017-05-12, version 5.00.0*

Can't even login -server error

### 1/5 — Latest version.

*2016-10-02, version 3.91*

I don't know what they have done. But it won't record my routes on my iPad any more.

### 1/5 — Great idea though

*2016-07-30, version 3.9*

Pretty clumsy interface. Pretty hard to really see what's going on. Didn't have the procedure I flew. 3D view basically useless. Then crashed. Not better than foreflight view or google earth in any real way because of the bad UI. Cool idea of pre-segmenting the flight. Top down plus side view would be better.

### 1/5 — Subscription = Epic Fail

*2014-08-10, version 3.5*

This app is nothing more than a gimmick with no practical application in an aviation training environment. The $45 subscription fee is laughable.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2013-11-27, version 3.0*

The day I download the app, I get an email telling me I have to pay an annual fee....

### 1/5 — Not CIA

*2013-10-18, version 2.4*

Excessive security. Wants too much info. Forces people to mimic the on screen image and then drops your password and start all over. 5 times is too much.

### 1/5 — Bad app

*2012-09-09, version 2.1*

I can not get this to work on my Mac
It redirects me to get the newer google earth and plugin it still does not work. Even the support email doesn't work.
This has been a big waste of my time. Don't waste your your time.

### 1/5 — Does not recognize internal GPS

*2012-08-20, version 2.0*

I have an original iPad 16GB WIFI +3G which means I have the internal GPS. the GPS works fine on all my other apps but on this app it tells me that I have no external or internal GPS. I am guessing this will render the app useless as I am not going to go buy a $100 external GPS when one is already built in. Hopefully they can fix this soon as I am very excited to use this app with my students.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fantastic App

*2021-09-27, version 6.1.1*

Thanks!

### 5/5 — Great for flight debriefing and evaluation

*2021-03-12, version 5.093*

CloudAhoy is great. The best and most objective way to evaluate your flights and proficiency. I like the App a lot. I also use the web version when I really want to dive deep into data and customize my displays. I like that I can import data to CloudAhoy from glass cockpit or EFB.

### 5/5 — Great tool for training, fun to share with passengers

*2020-01-26, version 5.06*

Used this a lot during my PPL training. I still use it when taking people on fun scenic flights. If they nerd out on aviation as much as I do I can share our flight with them and they can see exactly what we did.

### 5/5 — Unreal

*2019-10-21, version 5.06*

This app is incredibly underrated. I have used it in the past to debrief IFR students and sometimes just when I’m curious about my own flying performance.

Worth every cent 👍🏼

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2019-08-15, version 5.05*

Sheer genius. How can a app this good only have three reviews?

### 5/5 — Great App

*2018-09-09, version 5.04*

I have used this app for every fight during my training and it has been very useful.

### 5/5 — Packs full functionality into iPhone app

*2017-07-25, version 5.02*

I've been using CloudAhoy on my PC and iPad for several months but only recently downloaded it onto my iPhone 6. I was expecting a simplified interface with a reduced set of functionality but was really surprised that they managed to fit it all in. The screen real estate on my phone is minimal but they've incorporated fly-out menus to keep it clean. The CloudAhoy service on all platforms is simply amazing. I'm working on my instrument rating and it's proven to be an invaluable tool for analyzing my performance. It's especially nice to relax that evening and review the flight in an easy chair from various viewpoints and angles. I use ForeFlight in the cockpit and it exports track logs quickly and easily into CloudAhoy. This app is highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Great for students

*2016-11-05, version 3.91*

I'm a student and this app has been fantastic for recording my flights and having complete debrief capabilities with my CFI and on my own after the flight.

Also I've been really surprised at how little battery it consumes. I expected it to be a battery hog but it's actually quite efficient.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2016-08-11, version 3.9*

I use this app to record every lesson I take and analyze later at home what really happened out there...

### 5/5 — Great tool to self evaluate your flights

*2016-03-06, version 3.8.1*

This is a perfect app for any pilot looking to gather flight data to see how he/she is doing. Love how easy and visually it is. I would like it even more if I can analyze my flight on my iPhone too
