### 2/5 — I’m an electrician

*2025-10-08, version 1.1.1*

Terrible app and terrible connection do not buy!! Big warning do not buy!

### 2/5 — Expect to be disappointed

*2025-03-15*

Two years into using these. I will put nothing but dumb lights in my new house thanks to this experience.

Alexa control of lights works maybe once in ten tries. For me, out of 24 lights, I expect at least five to not connect at any given time. That means if you want to adjust color and brightness depending on time of day, then you’ll always have mismatched lights. And adding a new light to the app - always a disaster. Right now, I am trying to connect one new light for the 11th time….and since it continues to fail regardless of how many ideas I get from forums (…and since the CloudyBay app guidance is useless), I have extra time to write a quick review.

### 1/5 — The worst

*2024-05-14, version 1.0.6*

These lights are terrible. Waste of time. Don’t buy!!!

### 1/5 — Terrible. Don’t buy these lights

*2024-01-21*

My lights will not connect to this app. I wired my entire house with the disc lights. They blink constantly. I can’t get most lights to pair to the app. Customer service isn’t able to help. I wasted my money. These lights are so embarrassing when company comes over and they flash until I take them out of pairing mode.

### 2/5 — Horrible

*2023-12-24*

This app is absolutely terrible. The way it’s laid out the way you need to go about grouping lights the way you can’t apply certain things to groups of lights. It’s just so not thought out properly and so disappointing To spend all the money I spent on lights and to have this app function the way it does is beyond frustrating.

### 1/5 — Adding Devices Nightmare

*2023-12-12*

Beware! If you are adding more than 12 lights at a time, it rarely works. You’ll get most of them but not all. And then, only those lights that connected will be controllable. When you go to add the others, you have to add all of them again and it won’t work and you’ll get frustrated. Even if you get them all connected, then some fluke will happen and they’ll all disconnect again!

On top of that, let’s say everything works but the app itself is painfully manual and you end up having to do a lot of things one light at a time.

My husband (an electrician) also says the can lights are slightly bigger than normal can lights so when you realize you’ve made a mistake and can’t handle the erratic behavior of these lights, you may have to repair your drywall to install normal can lights.

You may not think it but having to use your phone to dim the lights is painful.

### 1/5 — Love the lights. Hate the app.

*2023-11-25, version 1.0.6*

I’ve been in IT for 25 years and I can’t for the life of me figure out this app. Lights are cool when they work but that is rare. Constantly disconnecting. The gateway disappears for no reason. If it was not so much work (I have 12 foot ceilings and hate ladders) I would put my old lights back in and ship this disaster back to Amazon. Come on CloudyBay you’ve got something really cool but the part that matters (making them work) needs A LOT of work.

### 1/5 — Too primitive

*2023-11-15*

The setup was eary but cannot connect all at once. Lights are not always responsive vis Alexa. The lights can change color but when you have many, it is impossible to control all. Even for on and off, you must “program” and add one by one.

### 2/5 — Was great…Was

*2023-09-30, version 1.0.6*

We loved our lights until an update removed the option to automate scenes. Now we have to go into the app every night and select colors. Please fix this!

Sincerely,
an electrician’s wife

### 2/5 — Loses connection & takes too long to connect

*2023-04-09*

The lights will loose the connection to the Wi-Fi even though the wireless router is sitting within 6 feet. I know the router is reliable because we stream games that my kids never complain of their game messing up. Then when we have to reset or reconnect the lights, the connection will time out— sometimes it is the first light of six that times out. Sometimes it is the second, third, or so forth. Also, I can’t for the life of me, I can’t figure out how to configure the Tap and Run Automation feature. It would be great to be able to set an early morning soft lighting then it gets brighter with the day and gets soft at night again — you have the Rhythm feature but it is only on individual lights — Rhythm should be able to be set on a group of lights (I set up a group with six lights). And while you are at it, anything you can set for an individual light should be something you can do for a group for easier management.

### 2/5 — iPad version of the App, not the iPhone version

*2023-01-29, version 1.0.5*

Is there an iPad version for this app? Not the iPhone display on an iPad.

### 1/5 — Customize white needs to be a number, not a guess

*2022-12-20, version 1.0.5*

I hate that in some areas changing the whiteness color is dragging your finger with no number and other areas it has a number because it makes it difficult to sync all the lights to the same whiteness color. Please put the number value everywhere so we can see what number we are setting it to.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Major Malfunction- Waste of Money

*2026-07-25*

I had more than 20 of these lights installed all over my home. Half of them stopped working out of nowhere. They’re stuck in pairing mode and will not connect no matter what I do. And no it’s not my router. I should’ve looked up the reviews on this app before I purchased this product. I recommend you do the same.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2026-03-22, version 1.1.1*

Out of 7 days a week the app maybe works 2-3 days. I feel like throwing them away. Always an inconvenience

### 1/5 — Light disconnects everytime

*2025-11-20, version 1.1.1*

Don’t purchase this

### 1/5 — Awful

*2025-05-07*

The interface is terrible. I only installed 4 lights and they took over 10 tries to connect. They randomly stop working. They work with Alexa only half the time. They randomly loose connection. The group portion of the app to control multiple lights at one time never works. Very disappointed

### 1/5 — Avoid this product

*2025-05-07*

I have six lights around the fireplace, all 6 on one switch. I can’t get all 6 to connect to the app without trying 3 dozen times. While trying to connect, the connection times out because connection times take too long. Then individual lights will periodically loose the connection to the app and I can’t get it connected back again without having to reset all lights. But if you remember my first gripe, I thinks me 3 more dozen times to try to get all 6 connected to the app. Rinse and repeat. I regret getting these lights.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2024-12-13, version 1.0.9*

Terrible, installed 100+ lights, they are always disconnected and failing to add.

### 1/5 — Inconsistent and takes away purpose of buying the lights

*2024-12-07*

The app at first didn’t connect to wifi but I figured out it was due to a special character in SSID. Now I have issues with the “groups” of light in the app. The group doesn’t allow you to customize the light. You have to customize the lights individually. App is extremely inconsistent and unreliable. I would NOT recommend buying the lights to anyone. Im currently buying 30 new ones for my house.

### 1/5 — Awful.

*2024-12-04, version 1.0.9*

I am so disappointed in buying my outdoor light from this company. The lights and the app are awful. Bad connection even with a mesh network that covers 12 additional WiFi devices to just connect to 40 lights and still terrible.

### 1/5 — Worst decision

*2024-08-23*

After installing nearly 24 smart lights in my home, I was excited about the "smart" experience they promised. Initially, they worked well, though setting them up was a bit of a hassle. However, after a few months, some of the lights began disconnecting and would reset from a soft warm light to a default bright white. To fix just one light, I now have to reset all the lights in that group or switch, which is incredibly frustrating. The lights were also supposed to update, but the connection always times out. I know it's not my WiFi since it's fast and well-supported with routers throughout my home. Unfortunately, it seems like a case of poor manufacturing and technology. Changing all the lights will be another headache, so be cautious and make sure to choose wisely before starting any project.

### 1/5 — most confusing, worst designed app!

*2024-06-24, version 1.0.6*

I will never buy your products again, unless you completely redo the app which is horrifically confusing and I am very very tech savvy. I feel bad for everyone else.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Working great for years

*2025-04-29*

I put four of these up in 2022 and they work great in 2025. I use alexa to use them all, I rarely use the app now. Any shade of white and any brightness I want is possible.

### 5/5 — Seamless Installation and Great Performance

*2025-01-04*

I installed eight lights, and they worked perfectly. There were no issues with the Wi-Fi connection. I plan to purchase four more for another room.

### 5/5 — Works great years later

*2024-07-19, version 1.0.6*

I installed these lights long ago and the app is still working great.

### 5/5 — Nice product

*2023-06-02*

I really like this product. I like how you can change the color of the lights but there is a small issue. Everytime I turn a light(s) on I always get bad internet. Please fix this! But other than that I love this product so much.

### 5/5 — Great product

*2022-03-08*

I got 6 in led rgb lights and honest love them so much that it’s great the only downside it doesn’t link with my apple HomeKit other then that I honestly love them bc I can control them there the app and not have to get up and turn them of or dime them and I can change them through the app honestly great app and easy set up

### 4/5 — Needs help

*2025-06-23, version 1.0.9*

Smart scenes don’t work. Good luck explaining it to cloudy bay.

### 4/5 — signal issue

*2022-07-13*

I have 8 downlights in my living room and they're great! However, Some of them doesn't connect to the app or I can't control them.
Please fix this bug!

### 3/5 — Cool lights, could use more features

*2026-06-26*

I feel like the app was lazily made and it could have more options and customization settings for the light patterns and colors.

### 3/5 — Group lights

*2023-11-26*

You guys really need to add a thing where you can group lights together, and then modify them on the fly, instead of having to create a "tap to run".

this is extremely frustrating! Having to manually modify each light one at a time is ridiculous

### 2/5 — Not many options

*2025-11-06*

Does not have many options and it looses its connection with the lights, I’m sure they can do better. I wish I didn’t have to give a 2 star, but honestly doesn’t really works. Unless the upgrade everything. To a better version, where you don’t have to reset every time.
