### 3/5 — More issues !

*2026-05-22, version 1.15.0*

So I have been somewhat less than impressed with this app’s performance. I paid for an annual subscription but have been unable to access my data in the app. Even changed my password. This is the 2nd time having issues with this app. Quite frustrating!

### 1/5 — Have to pay for use

*2023-05-28, version 1.12*

You can’t use this app unless you pay the monthly fee.

### 1/5 — Not free!

*2022-06-17, version 1.12*

The app was free and did specify “In app purchases” but usually that means bonus material or at least access a small portion of the app. NOPE. You can not even open the app without paying a $4.00 MONTHLY subscription.

### 3/5 — Basic App

*2022-04-27, version 1.12*

For what you get with this app, the price is too high. $4 a month for some room checklists? If it was a one time fee of $4 then that would make sense. You could just write the lists out and cancel before the free trial ends and save yourself money. Maximize your savings and minimize the cost.

### 1/5 — Costs money

*2021-07-25, version 1.12*

Should give you a head up before downloading that it’s a monthly fee. I deleted it right away.

### 2/5 — Too much to pay Each month

*2021-07-09, version 1.12*

I am retired and cannot afford $4 a month to use this app. I wish I could just pay for it once. Ongoing fees deter me from using it.

### 1/5 — Expensive

*2021-04-15, version 1.12*

$4/month? Doesn’t seem very minimalist to me.

### 3/5 — Almost

*2020-05-16, version 1.8*

The general application design and introduction walkthrough are great to map out rooms and spaces in the home.

A few things: users should be able to add more spaces and rooms after the initial walkthrough, and be able to edit (or delete and re-enter) manual task entries for each room.

A final note for developers: don’t enable family sharing if you’re just going to require a new subscription on the other device in the same household. Or allow cloud sync between two devices using the same sign in account.

A large part of minimalist living is the concept of open communication, and your app should show progress and a feature set towards that goal.

### 3/5 — I want to love it...

*2020-04-17, version 1.7*

But it’s kind of glitchy and frustrating right now. I love that you can customize your rooms and tasks and keep photos as you go along. I don’t love that you can’t delete photos from the gallery and that photos stored there take a super long time to load. I’ve noticed the ones that I take within the app take longer to load, and it does this every time I go to the gallery tab. I’m not that patient. I have started taking pictures with my camera and then selecting from the camera roll, so that helps, but I still have pictures trying to load that I don’t even want there. My screen is cluttered, and it’s driving me nuts.

I also had to update the app immediately after downloading it because it kept prompting me. When I first downloaded, it said the trial was for 7 days. Then when I updated it within the first two hours, the details in the App Store said 14 days. Guess how many they say I get? Uh huh. 7. It’s 7. Customer support didn’t seem to think this was strange at all. With as glitchy as it is, I’m not super excited about paying a monthly fee, though I do think it’s a beautiful and useful app. I just want it to work.

### 1/5 — More expensive than advertised

*2020-04-15, version 1.7*

Before you download it says the monthly cost is 3.99 but once you’ve got the app it goes up to 5.99

### 1/5 — Is there something wrong with my app?

*2020-04-13, version 1.5*

I cannot seem to move beyond sign in and then this pulsating circle. What gives? I’m using up my subscription days with this exasperating glitch.

### 1/5 — Sorry. But not happy

*2020-04-12, version 1.5*

Mr. Becker, I’m not writing this review for the sake of complaint. Trust me. I despise complaining. But I’m sorry. Your app needs work. I’ve bought your book and your course and enjoy the message you bring. I also subscribe to your Simple Magazine. So obviously, I’m not opposed to spending money. But luring people in with a free setup, giving them a 7 day free trial, and then making it so that they are COMPLETELY locked out of the app once those 7 days are up? It caused your app to waste my time. I set the app up on a Friday so that I could hopefully get to it: was unable. The following weekend, (after a good clean out session) I decided to open it up and see how it worked. But apparently even though I never opened it... my 7 days are up. And I can’t even open the app. So all that time I spent setting it up? Poof! Gone. Any app that wastes my time is not getting my money.
I’m also going to say it. A subscription model in this case is not warranted. Because we are the ones working our way thru the clutter. Not you. Also, it’s kind of insulting to those of us that already are your subscribers! I would change to A one time fee, let people choose between a free version with in-app purchases or a premium version that allows them even more value. This would serve you AND YOUR PEOPLE. Right now, with its immediate wall, This app seems to do neither. But sadly, I wouldn’t know. Because since I can’t even get past the front wall and check it out, I have no idea if it’s worth my investment.
I’m well aware that you’re a business owner. But the model you’ve come up with for this app will eventually be knocked off. And someone will be smart enough to know that a free version will attract a bigger market & larger affiliate shares. I wish you the best. Because you’re obviously a giant in your field and have helped thousands to love minimalism. And hopefully I’m wrong and you can laugh. But I hope you reconsider how this app works.

### 1/5 — Buyer beware

*2020-04-06, version 1.5*

Advertised with hidden cost
Should be a one time price
NOT a monthly subscription

Takes advantage of people struggling
Launched during a pandemic
Greedy business plan, not helpful service

Disappointed
Not transparent advertising

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2026-07-17, version 1.15.0*

After signing up for the free trial I was forced out of the app and now when i try to log in it just spins and says Im already logged in. Hope you all get it straightened out and I will try it again sometime! Thank you

### 1/5 — Horrible App

*2026-06-07, version 1.15.0*

Was really looking forward to using an app to help with motivational cleaning and I signed up paid the subscription and then it kept glitching not letting me sign in and telling me to pay again for subscription. The help option was no help at all. Idk if this app is even in service anymore. Just beware.

### 1/5 — Scam App

*2026-05-30, version 1.15.0*

Will not advance past the opening page of the app that requires you to select a paid subscription. Even when the App Store says you have a subscription, the app refuses to acknowledge it and keeps you hung at that page.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2026-05-18, version 1.15.0*

Had high hopes for this app. Initially had problems after downloaded, couldn’t open properly, contacted app owner who promptly replied & sorted problem. Worked okay for a short amount of time but now can’t access any info that I’ve loaded so have given up & cancelled. Good idea/concept but useless if app doesn’t work

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work and they don’t respond. Buyer beware.

*2026-04-28, version 1.15.0*

App doesn’t work and they don’t respond.

### 1/5 — Pretty sure this is fraud

*2026-03-21, version 1.15.0*

App won’t do anything at all other than get you to subscribe and that’s probably just them getting your email so they can sell it.

### 1/5 — Worse experience

*2026-02-12, version 1.15.0*

Really wanted this to work, I tried to download app, it has so many bugs that it does not work, kept going back and forth asking me to reinstall and add my email, after I submitted it, just kept getting error messages, also when clicked on the help button, the message did not want to send.

### 1/5 — Glitchy

*2026-02-09, version 1.15.0*

Looks like this app has been unavailable for years except to take money and crash. Don’t do it.

### 1/5 — Can’t get past set up

*2025-05-31, version 1.14.2*

It looks great but I’m pleased I only subscribed to the trial. When trying to set up the rooms, every time I try to make a change it gets stuck in a white screen.

### 1/5 — Not free and log in required

*2024-05-23, version 1.14.2*

The download page says free but you cannot use the app without paying and it doesn’t say the price when you launch the app it just says log in or subscription trial.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Super helpful

*2021-01-08, version 1.12*

They must have worked out all the bugs with the app because I haven’t run into any problems of the problems from reviews earlier this year. Yes, this is a paid app, but if you’re serious about decluttering this is definitely the best (only?) decluttering app where you set up your own house. I like that you work at your own pace and can check off items as you go along, that’s very satisfying and motivating. There’s also a library of resources but I haven’t used that much yet really. May try it if I get stuck at some point. So far though I’ve got 3 boxes ready to donate!

### 5/5 — I’m impressed !

*2020-12-20, version 1.12*

I’m loving this app. I needed motivation to start decluttting my place and that’s what I got ! Easy to use, practical, so helpful. I love that we can take before and after pictures and save them. It gives that feeling of accomplishment! Awesome app!

### 5/5 — Clutterfree, gaining a new, happier way of living

*2020-07-09, version 1.10*

This app enabled me to begin my journey on a decluttered home and life. I give it five stars for ease of use, thorough advice and encouragement at every step, and graphics to show improvement as I go. In one day I cleared out my dining room, which had been the repository for all things without a home for years. I was able to decide exactly what to donate (most of the clutter) and what to keep ( much less!) by following the suggestions of steps to go through which at the same time, reduced my anxiety at becoming overwhelmed. I am so happy with that room! And on to the next rooms, it’s just as helpful. There are articles for inspiration and encouragement, a classification of each room of the house as to how hard I think decluttering will be and a plan for action based on my answers to these questions, taking the emotional component out of decision making. I did not experience decision fatigue. Without this app’s help in a logical, step-wise manner of decluttering, I would have never gotten that room, or any room , done. Clutterfree has been invaluable to me, as a means to live the life I want to live, dispensing with what is unnecessary, with room to keep the favorite pieces that add to my enjoyment of my house. I just love the suggested order of rooms to tackle and the step-wise suggestions for attacking the room. I’ve gained a lot of insight to why I kept things and why I don’t need to anymore. That, in itself, is revelatory and keeps me from making the same mistakes again. For all the design, inspiration and feedback given when contacted, I give this app a High Five! I’m planning on giving gift subscriptions to friends who’ve expressed an interest in living better, but do not know how to get started. It’s awesome.

### 5/5 — On to Decluttering!

*2020-05-10, version 1.7*

This app has guided and inspired me to restart my minimalism throughout my home! I have cleared a few spaces, more focus when I have time and a few minutes here and there. The app needs some improvement, but that’s normal for a new app. Later versions and updates I’m sure would help! Thank you Joshua Becker for creating this!

### 5/5 — I love this app!

*2020-05-09, version 1.7*

I seriously love this app. I’ve purchased so many other organization infoproducts but I never stuck to them the way I do with Clutterfree. I find the whole format makes it easy to break down the overwhelming task of decluttering an entire home into clear and manageable steps. On days where I don’t have a lot of time, I just complete one step. Other days I might blow through a whole room (or even two). The concept of building a personalized plan for your own home, and going from easy to hard, creates a sense of momentum that gets you excited to keep going. And the built-in before and after photos - brilliant! I love seeing progress. I will definitely use this on a regular basis to keep fine-tuning and creating a peaceful, minimalistic home.

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2020-05-09, version 1.7*

This is an easy-to-use app for the overwhelmed mind. While I know it’s still in the beginning phase, I’m grateful that it is already helping me in my new chapter of a simplified life.

### 5/5 — GREAT organizational tool!

*2020-05-07, version 1.7*

I was so thrilled when Joshua Becker of Becoming Minimalist came out with this app. His writings and tips are so helpful and encouraging and this app wraps it up! It’s like a “personal organizing coach” to declutter once and for all. I love the customization of your house! Breaks it up into bite size pieces. I wish it was a couple bucks cheaper but it gets a lot done in a short time if you just follow the lists. Feeling very accomplished! Thank you!

### 5/5 — Excellent App!

*2020-03-27, version 1.4*

I found this app incredibly easy to use and manage. The free trial allowed ample time to get started with my declutter and the options for payment were reasonable and in line with the app-creator’s minimalism approach. The lists for each room were fantastic, seeing the steps and tips really helped to streamline the process. I love being able to track my donations and have the images saved to the app for access later for tax purposes. I highly recommend this app!

### 5/5 — Clutterfree

*2020-03-27, version 1.4*

A great way to get encouragement on how to minimize my home room by room and step by step. It is a fun and interesting way to not feel so alone in the process. Ver interesting method.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2020-03-26, version 1.4*

Love the design. Super helpful app! I’m very impressed by the simplicity of the set up. Would recommend to all!
