Neat idea *2019-01-11* This is essentially drag-strip racing with Steam Locomotives, and is quite addictive. Your job is to shovel pieces of coal into your trains firebox. The coal comes at you like the notes from a beat game - the more coal you shovel, the faster your train goes. But if you swing your shovel too soon or too late and miss the piece of coal, you take a penalty and train starts to slow down. The graphics suit the game well, and the style of the sound effects and music seem retro - that’s the good kind of retro. With pretty much no learning curve, the tutorial is over in we’ll under a minute, so you can pretty much dive right in and start playing. The actual gameplay time varies, as the winner is the first to pull far enough ahead from the other player, rather than simply reaching a finish line first. That said, I tend to see anywhere from 30 to 90 seconds per match making it great for those little moments.
