### 2/5 — App frozen on iPhone 3.0

*2009-06-29, version 0*

Reloaded 2x and still will not work. Everytime that I click app front page, nothing happens and then I am returned to the main iPhone page. Poor performance for a $2.99 app imo.

### 2/5 — Don't buy

*2009-06-29, version 0*

Stopped working after updates...

### 2/5 — Great before 3.0 came out

*2009-06-24, version 0*

I can not get this application to run under the new IPhone 3.0 software, click on the icon comes up to the splash screen, then dies. I have rebooted the phone, reloaded the app, all to no avail. Help with a version that works as good under 3.0 as it did under 2.0!

### 3/5 — Nice interface, but disapointed

*2009-01-26, version 0*

Very nice interface, however, I was very surprised and disapointed to find that some very basic drinks were absent from their database, i.e., Black or White Russian, and the Mai Tai. Hopefully, these and other conspicuous omissions will be added in future updates.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Need an Update !!!

*2018-06-06, version 1.3*

1) the UI is looking old
2) if you search for a specific drink , the app will crash
3) their’s no way to change the measurement unit

### 1/5 — Pass on this one

*2016-09-29, version 1.02*

I downloaded this app after reading a great review about it online… The first drink I searched for (ice pick) returned zero results… Horrible navigation, horrible UX (user experience)... there are plenty of free apps that put this app to shame... there were no reviews, so I took one for the team…

### 1/5 — No Sazerac recipe???

*2016-03-18, version 1.02*

How are you going to make a cocktail app that doesn't include the original cocktail?

### 1/5 — Not working (still)

*2011-03-06, version 1.01*

An update has been desperatly needed for at least 6 months. This app still doesn't work with OS 4. Fix it.

### 1/5 — Update for OS4?

*2010-07-04, version 0*

Great application until I updated to OS 4. Now all it seems good for is displaying the title screen and crashing. Please update!

### 1/5 — Does not work with 3.0

*2009-06-30, version 0*

I loved this app but what's the deal with not testing it with 3.0. Please fix this now and I'll change my rating

### 1/5 — Not on the 3GS

*2009-06-27, version 0*

Doesn't currently seem to work on the iPhone 3GS - pops up the splash screen and then quits. Bummer. (Gave 1 star because I had to choose something...)

### 2/5 — a great app with flaws

*2017-11-27, version 1.3*

a very useful and well designed app. a bit buggy at first and now updated to ios 11 (with another purchase). based on the british Difford’s cocktail bible. their larger sister app for ipad was abandonwear. zero response to queries by designers. poor maintenance. available in book form.

### 2/5 — Nice app but still buggy

*2010-12-18, version 1.01*

The concept for this app I terrific. There are 2 major components to the app. 1.) lists 500 cocktail recipes you can make with the most common liquors. This component work great out of the box. 2.) identify which liquors you have and the app will filter the recipe database and identify the recipes you can make with the liquor you have on hand. This 2nd component does not work on my iPhone (3G running v4 software). Once I identify my liquor in "my cabinet" the app identifies the recipes I can make But, and this is the show stopper, once I exit from the app, it will not let me back in. The app shows the opening page for a few seconds and then closes. I suspect the data base becomes too large after you identify your liquor and times out before it can open. Purchasers beware, this app does not provide the full range of features it promises. If you are willing to live with a non-customized recipe list then this app is ok but probably not worth the price. More work to do before this app is ready for the public.

### 2/5 — Nice UI but limited

*2010-11-25, version 0*

Needs ability to select all sorts of ingredients from cabinet, not just liquor.

### 5/5 — Best one

*2010-12-30, version 1.01*

Yes

### 5/5 — Simon Difford DELIVERS.

*2009-01-20, version 0*

I'm a bit of a cocktail nerd - I mix drinks while wearing a leopard print fez for an internet comedy show called Tiki Bar TV. On my shelf of cocktail books you'll find a large shelf dedicated to Difford; I loved his "Sauceguides", I subscribed to his magazine, and even have an autographed copy of Cocktails Vol. 5 (thank YOU very much). Simon's books blend masterful mixology with absolutely gorgeous graphic design. When friends of mine decide to delve into the world of mixology, I always, without fail, steer them toward something from the Simon Difford collection.

This app has the same classy design and fantastic cocktails as Simon's books. The writing is clean and witty. The drinks? Delicious. The ability to randomly "shake" a cocktail based on what you have in your bar RIGHT NOW is fantastic. And the little checklist so you can click off the ingredients as you pop them in your Boston shaker? C'mon. Pure genius. Hell, after enjoying a few cocktails, I sometimes myself have have forgotten to add that 1/2 ounce of simple syrup when needed or, on occasion, mistakenly added a double dose of Curacao. Dreadfully embarrassing. Now with my handy iPhone checklist? Never again!

2.99 for this app is an absolute bargain! Difford is the real deal. Scoop this app today and go fix yourself something fantastic to drink. You deserve it.

Cheers, Kevin.
(AKA Johnny Johnny, Tiki Bar TV).

### 4/5 — It's excellent for what it is intended

*2017-06-04, version 1.02*

I have been enjoying this app immensely since I bought it. Using it per it's description has been giving my friends and I a great time trying new drinks.
The intention is to have a few select alcohols on hand and find what you can make with just those items. We stocked the bar and for months have been enjoying different drinks each week.
Is hope they update it to continue with iOS updates because it has been so enjoyable. And emailing the recipes for later use has been great as well.

### 4/5 — A very nicely thought-out app, BUT could use one or two improvements

*2010-05-15, version 0*

Nicely done. This app makes it very easy to maintain a handy go-to list of favorite cocktails (including your own modifications!) for any occasion. Previously I was using the builtin Notes application, which fell short in many ways, not the least of which is that it didn't bootstrap me with 500 rated recipes to choose from.

There are a few tiny interface tweaks I could complain about (it would be nice if the star indicator wasn't quite so subtle, and it's not totally clear how to reset a search), but these are pretty minor. I think the apps biggest shortcoming is that while you can edit existing cocktails, you can't add your own. Do you like a Negroni? A Sazerac? A 1794 or a Liberal? Well, you won't find them in this app, nor can you add them to your favorites list. Which means, unfortunately, that some cocktails will still have to reside in Notes.

All in all though, there's no doubt in my mind that this app is worth the price I paid. To the developers, I beg of you, please don't make me use Notes anymore! :) You have a great app, and with that one change I think you'll be able to trounce any and all cocktail competition in the app store.

UPDATE: Please update this for the iPad!!!

### 4/5 — Thanks for the update.

*2009-07-07, version 0*

Now working with new iPhone os. I really like this app...the preloaded ratings are pretty accurate. Loads of interesting drinks based on a small number of base liquor. I love the "thumbtack" feature, which prevents iPhone from dimming or sleeping while you are preparing a drink.

### 4/5 — Bugs (edited 7/6/09)

*2009-07-06, version 0*

After searching through many cocktail related apps, I decided to go with Cocktails Made Easy for my mixed drink needs. Unfortunately, the app does not start due to some type of bug, causing it to crash before the initial loading time ends.

I'm using the 3G with the new 3.0 update. Please fix this soon. For the moment, buyer beware.

New update has fixed the innitial crash bug and the program works quite nicely.

Doesn't have all the drinks one would expect but isn't aimed for mass market appeal. Instead, they focus on tried and true classics with an excellent UI.

Some faults or improvements: Does not provide the option to add your own cocktails. Would like to see the options for the average user reviews (.5 - 5.0 scale). The search feature doesn't seem available when holding the phone horizontally.

A quality app overall.

### 4/5 — Almost Perfect

*2009-03-12, version 0*

Pros: The ability to set which liquors I currently have really sets this app apart from all the other cocktail apps. This app was clearly designed for the average home consumer and not a bartender with a fully stocked bar at their disposal. The shake for random drinks feature is fun. All the recipes and pictures included are high quality. Definitely worth $3.

Cons: The app has some serious crash bugs. If I star a recipe the app will always crash when loading. I had to remove the app and re-install to get it to run again. I can't set which "essentials" I currently have (limes, syrups, etc.) just like I can with the liquors.

### 4/5 — Very Good

*2009-01-21, version 0*

This is an attractive and easy to use bartending application. It has a solid collection of recipes that tends toward classic cocktails, variations on classics and tested modern recipes. I was surprised not to see any recipes containing calvados or applejack.

### 3/5 — Small Cabinet

*2009-03-28, version 0*

Well done app, however I purchased solely to customize drink recipies based on the contents of my liquor cabinet. Unfortunately the "Cabinet" feature on this app is lacking as major types of liquor are not found as choices. ex: there is no "whiskey" in addition there is no way to include what mixers you own. A second panel with mixers ie: "orange juice", or more obscure (and less likely to be in my fridge) ingredients like "fresh berries" and "mint leaves" as are requred for some of these drinks would be nice. As it stands I get a solid list of drinks I could possibly make .... after a trip to the corner market. If they include more liquor types and mixers for the "My cabinet" section this app would get 5 stars.

### 3/5 — Good version 1.0

*2009-02-24, version 0*

Very good start. Really needs to add the ability to store my own recipies. And yes, it's kinda buggy...too many crashes to home screen...
