Supposed to make book keeping simpler for a sole trader but it ends up more stressful as the app doesn’t save receipts to transactions. You then have to repeat the attempt time and time again until it actually works. I bought something at B&Q so it wanted to save the other 17 B&Q transactions to the same wrong section instead of aligning the one to the other 17? Frustrating to say the least!! ### 2/5 — Price is ridiculous now… *2026-03-22, version 1.70.13* Just cancelled after using this for many years, when it was free and an actual bank account. It’s just a headache now. Just gone up yet another £2 a month and I STILL can’t get regular transactions in my linked personal account to auto-categorise when they’re the same ones every month. Still have to do them manually! Well I’ve had enough, the price doesn’t warrant the usage so I’m out… ### 2/5 — Glitches soon as log in *2025-09-13, version 1.70.6* Very good and easy to use but soon as i log on i get error messages stating there been a problem with me request and to contact chat. You. Do this and go round in circles. Hopefully this can be sorted otherwise will be force to cancel my subscription Will change review if it gets sorted ### 2/5 — Multiple glitches in bank connections *2025-05-09, version 1.70.4* I really really wish this app didn’t have issues with bank connections. I’m trying to resolve them. Started with just one bank and now several banks will not reconnect. I do ask on the help but just feel it’s going round in circles. If I can get this sorted in next few weeks I will raise my review as if the connections worked for me then this would be the absolute perfect app. ### 2/5 — Nice idea but unusable *2024-10-10, version 1.70.0* Nice idea, could definitely see the benefit in using this app. The countless bugs make it basically unusable though. Impossible to change categories, constantly hit with “contact tech support” pop up. The message is always the same ‘there was an error completing your request, please chat to our support tream…’ I did and nothing… ### 2/5 — No Chase Bank *2023-05-12, version 1.66.0* I still don’t know why many UK organisations still haven’t incorporated Chase Bank into their system. They are fully registered and regulated by the UK. Please can you add Chase bank to your system please? Thanks. ### 4/5 — Great app but pleaaaase make these changes *2023-01-26* I love Coconut. It’s my favourite invoicing app so far and the most well designed one out there in my opinion. Makes invoicing from your phone so simple, and tracking when client has received/opened invoice/invoice is overdue etc is all helpful. Also great customer service - always quick and friendly. Would love to see the below changes implemented: - multi currency invoicing — this is the biggest one for me, I am having to use Coconut for my UK invoices and Xero for US/EUR clients. Yes, you can invoice the client in GBP and write an exchange rate in the note but that doesn’t work for me (also doesn’t work with the design of the invoice which emphasises the GBP total) - I want to be able to invoice the client in their currency at a consistent rate. I haven’t moved over entirely to Xero yet because I do prefer Coconut but I may do eventually, as I’d rather be able to invoice all my clients via one app and not be paying double fees for two apps when I could pay for one. - Xero offer the option of editing your invoice email template, would like to see this introduced as I am having to manually edit them each time. - would be really great to be able to choose others fonts or even upload a custom font to have more control over your branding. - I prefer Starling’s business toolkit for their tax estimate, it gives a more accurate breakdown. Coconut also doesn’t factor in the personal allowance deduction to the estimate. **Developer response:** Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback around our invoicing tool, this is super helpful and has been passed directly to our product team. In regards to your Tax Saving Suggestion, the figure you see here is based on the rate you have selected, along with the income and expenses from your transactions that have been categorised as business. You can amend the rate or even add a custom rate. The rate you choose should be reflective of what you want to 'set-aside'. Please feel free to reach out to the team directly at support@getcoconut.com if you have any further feedback or would like help with anything else. ### 3/5 — Used to be great *2022-01-20, version 1.49.2* Used to absolutely love this app to organise my small business finances, but they’ve had an issue for at least 2 months so that you have to completely log in from scratch (4 step process including a code with a text message) EVERY single time you want to check. It used to be a code/finger ID which was great. It would be nice for them to offer a discount/offer for anyone that is actually sticking with them through this error. I’ll be looking to move my finances else where. ### 4/5 — Very handy app *2022-01-06* Really simple to set up and use and a much easier option compared to the alternatives. Categorising transactions is quick and very useful since coconut sends this data directly to my accountant. I’m sure the software will become even more intelligent over time, as to start automatically flagging more transaction types based on historical data. My only gripe (and it’s a small one) is that recent versions appear to keep timing out my session, rather than let me login quickly with Face ID. **Developer response:** Hi Luke, thanks for your feedback! However, recently I’m being logged out of my app daily and have to re-login with a code sent to me via text (not useful if you have appalling signal). Very frustrating, not to mention the period in which the app would *constantly* disconnect from my bank feed. Hopefully these issues can be fixed, I’m on the latest OS on a iPhone 11 so it’s not old tech. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Unpredictable *2026-04-30, version 1.71.0* When it works, it’s easy and simple…until it glitches many times and then you can’t send invoices and nor can you look into the invoices historically. Very frustrating and I’m going to stop my DD. ### 1/5 — Unreliable cheap app. *2026-02-20* It’s just been a constant headache since sign up. Firstly, it says Starling bank is supported but there was no option to add a starling account for open banking - so I had to open a support ticket. Resolved after a couple of days. Then try to integrate PayPal for invoicing, repeatedly get an error message, raise a ticket and I’m told it’s my iOS version that’s out of date - but I’m using the most current version, so it’s now been escalated. The app feels cheap and unresponsive and the desktop site is worse. I deleted an invoice on the website but it continues to show in the app, and won’t allow you to delete it from the app. It’s nowhere near as good as xero etc and I will be asking my accountant if I can change products. ### 1/5 — Impossible to cancel subscription *2025-11-27, version 1.70.10* They make you jump through so many hoops and then you get a notification saying 'direct debit will be cancelled later today' but you still get charged. This is the first time I've ever felt compelled to take the time to review and app because it's such a total scam ### 1/5 — Insane marketing spam *2025-05-09, version 1.70.4* An incredible amount of marketing emails since creating an account. ### 1/5 — Bank won’t connect, support won’t help *2025-02-04, version 1.70.1* App worked fine until I tried to connect my Monzo bank account. I reached out to their support they were very unresponsive. Have been unable to use the app for a couple of weeks now and looking at alternatives. ### 1/5 — Missing money *2022-06-29* Hi all, In written this as a 5 star review but when on reality is not , money when missing whiles doing a withdrawal, they asking 45 days to get you the money back , this is not good. Very poor performance from them and staff as they keep sending you messages saying your founds are available and once you login into your account there is nothing, If you need a bank account or any other services, i will advise you to find other company because this on dont really care about they costumers/clients. Now im over here struggling with no money and a kid to feed , if you guys looking for a trusted company do you not choose them . Im already waiting for almost 15days , and all they keep saying to me is that they waiting on PPS, when asked to passe me to they mangers, straight away it got refused and my chats unable to text them after 4/5 hours thats when they allowed me to text them back This situation still on going , and they now saying they will close my account in 2days If you looking for a trust account, I personally don’t advise you, to choose them very bad **Developer response:** Hi there, sorry to read you've had a negative experience. This info should be in the description, especially if you're claiming the app is free. A big turn off for me, I do not agree with the under hand tactics that draw people into downloading an app in this way. I will be looking more carefully at reviews in the future, there were a couple here waving the red flag but I didn’t spot them until writing this review. Love it! ### 5/5 — A must have for freelance artists! *2022-03-16* I’ve been using Coconut for three years now to keep track of my business finances and tax. The app has allowed me to link my business account and keep a running check on how much tax I owe in the following years Self Assessment. Love that it automatically categorises your expenses, but also has the option to manually select the correct category should it be something oddly specific to you. It’s made the finance / admin side of running my freelance business so much easier. Plus takes the stress off not knowing if you’ve put enough aside for the tax man or not! Really impressed with it and will be continuing to use it for the rest of my career. 10/10 **Developer response:** Fantastic! VERY EXPENSIVE *2021-10-01, version 1.43.1* There is no fee free banking. This is a very expensive way to bank. They charge you per month plus they charge you per transaction (incoming and outgoing transactions, both have transaction fees). Way too expensive than any other high street banking.
