## What is Codable?

Codable is a lightweight web developer toolkit for iPhone and iPad.

Use the Safari extension to inspect pages where they already run. Select elements inline, browse the DOM tree, view HTML, inspect styles and node metadata, evaluate JavaScript, capture console output, view source, inspect resources, and review network activity. On supported devices, on-device Apple Intelligence can be used to find elements and perform edits.

The main app has three tabs for development and testing:
- Resize: a browser surface for testing responsive layouts with custom viewport width, height, scale, presets, and drag handles.
- Scratchpad: a JavaScript editor and runner with syntax coloring, code-focused keyboard shortcuts, document support, and optional Apple Intelligence assistance on supported devices.
- Extension: a small info page with instructions on how to enable the Safari extension, and a way to view a local demo page with CSS, JavaScript, resources, console logs, and network requests to try out the tools within Safari.

## Key features

- Resizable viewport for device emulation
- View pre-rendered website source
- Inspect and edit CSS
- View and execute console commands
- Structured listing of rendered nodes

### 3/5 — Good potential for debugging on iOS

*2018-11-02*

I’m trying to get a setup where I can debug JS on an iPad Pro (I do like a challenge!) and this app is the closest I’ve come so far in finding an app that has a console. My only gripe is that it’s built for an iPhone and I would love it (and happily pay some £/$) if it supported iPad Pro 10.5 screens and had a little more advanced features.

### 3/5 — Won’t work on htaccess (or similar) pages

*2018-10-22, version 1.0.6*

This app would be more useful if it supported the htaccess login protocol. Other than this small issue it is still pretty useful.
