### 4/5 — Codebook

*2026-07-27, version 5.3.7*

I like Codebook for its security and simplicity. I have used it for many years, however I have lately had to use a second password manager due to the lack of support for passkeys in Codebook.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2026-01-10, version 5.3.0*

Have used Codebook for many years and I cannot brag enough about. Not only that is perfect for a multi device, multi OS environment but the very few interactions I had with their customer service were outstanding !

### 5/5 — Codebook and support tea. Are the best‼️

*2026-01-07*

I have used codebook forever, even back when it was Strip. Over time it has been anabsolute must have. I (loosely) have to administer 3 iPhones, 2 desktop machines, 2 iPads, 2laptops and 1 Chromebook. Needless to say, managing passwords across all those devices was a nightmare…but the folks at Zetetic have been superb in responding to any issues I’ve had and giving me answers to the many queries I’ve had over the years. My Codebook app has over a thousand categories, entries and separate items. Having the cloud sync feature with real time updates across these devices has been a game changer. GO TEAM ZETETIC

### 5/5 — Great Personal Password Manager

*2025-12-28, version 5.2.7*

Great personal password manager, have been using it around a decade now. Simple, secure and easy to use.

### 5/5 — Great product.

*2025-10-21, version 5.2.7*

Been using this app for years and it’s always been great. Being able to sync between devices is key. The few times I’ve needed support, I’ve always had timely and professional assistance.

### 5/5 — Love this App

*2025-06-17, version 5.2.5*

Don’t even remember just how long I’ve been using this App. It always works for me. On top of that it simply keeps getting better and better. Highly recommend

### 5/5 — Trustworthy & Reliable

*2025-05-12, version 5.2.4*

I’ve been securing log in credentials with Codebook for many years now and it has always worked as designed. One of my most relied upon apps for sure!

### 5/5 — Codebook: What a Joy!

*2025-04-06*

Why did I say, “What a joy”?

CodeBook, on my phone, notebook, and computers is so easy to use yet provides unsurpassed security for my hundreds of passwords and notes.

I love how easy and fast it is, using my WiFi LAN, to safely & quickly transfer/sync, using my WiFi LAN, for what I saved in my phone CodeBook, to my laptop’s CodeBook. I then use my Laptop’s CodeBook to transfer Codebook to the following: my 2nd phone, my Wife’s phone.

Depending on you preference,
CodeBook also offers a faster way to sync your stuff using their Cloud.

ALL their methods of syncing is heavily encrypted.

I have 6 devices which for years have synced perfectly, no errors! I can depend on CodeBook to keep my files safe, even from sophisticated prying eyes and equipment.

Personally, I especially like using theirNotes” section to not only record my passwords/pass phrases, but to include my personal notes related to the companies attached to those passwords.

They have an easy to use “Passwords” section; however, I like to use their “Notes” section for my passwords.

If you so choose to list your passwords in the “Notes” section, here is what I do:

I list the company Names alphabetically, so I can easily find them, then the password, user name, then any additional notes associated with that name.

I have so many passwords associated with company Names that I split the alphabet into 2 Notes: Pswds A-L
               Pswds iM-Z

I also like the way Codebook allows the iPhone “Shake” to exactly put back anything I just mistakenly deleted.

I always Back Up stuff, including stuff in Codebook, so, in my phone CodeBook, I make BACKUPS of my A-L & M-Z Password Notes using “Copy & Paste”to create 2 more Notes:
Pswds A-L BkUp
Pswds M-Z BlUp

Then I Backup my phone to my Laptop
followed by backing up my laptop to my external hard drive.

Lastly, I appreciate the high level of effort given by the expert CodeBook techs, because they quickly respond to my occasional questions.

### 5/5 — Great.

*2025-03-17, version 5.2.2*

Their cloud makes it awesome

### 5/5 — Good app

*2025-02-17, version 5.2.2*

I’ve been using this application for a while. I appreciate the user-friendly interface. Easy to use, back up and file your various passwords

### 5/5 — Real Encryption. Real Support.

*2025-02-07*

I use Codebook because it focuses on keeping my passwords protected, but is very flexible and straightforward to use. I organize my passwords (and other sensitive data) how I want them—account by account.

However, I am writing this review because their customer support is first rate by any measure.

About a week ago, I found out that I couldn’t enter 90 year old dates in their date formatted field. Within 10 minutes of my email to support they had duplicated the limitation and opened a ticket. Today, they issued a general update that allows my 1935 date entries and emailed me to ask me to verify functionality.

### 3/5 — Can’t use after version 5

*2025-01-26, version 5.2.1*

I like the product and they have freat customer sercice. My problem is after version 5 I am unable to sync between devices. I am now looking at hours of work switching to something else.

### 5/5 — This app is all that and more.

*2025-01-07, version 5.2.1*

A friend suggested this app to me around 2012 and I’ve used it since. It’s a fantastic way to manage al these passwords life necessitates us to use. I’ve had a couple of issues over the years and their support staff, specifically Don couldn’t have been more helpful. I’m so very appreciative. RUN and download this app!

### 5/5 — Great Service

*2025-01-05, version 5.2.1*

Have used this app because of consistent high marks on security. Only needed customer service once and they were quick to respond with a helpful answer.

### 5/5 — Grammaof5girls

*2024-12-18, version 5.2.0*

User since conception!
Codebook has been my saving Grace from having to riffle through all my papers, passwords, healthcare records, dates, names, anniversaries, birthdays,
Etc…
My passwords are always encrypted and very hard to remember. The only thing I have had to do until these newest updates is copy & paste the passwords to my codebook, where they belong.
It looks like they have figured out what I need, making it work seamlessly!
Worth it!
Thank you-Team Codebook

### 5/5 — Magnífico gestor de contraseñas

*2024-12-14, version 5.1.1*

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2024-12-10, version 5.1.1*

Fantastic encrypted notebook and password manager. Great support too.

### 4/5 — Proton email

*2024-11-21, version 5.1.1*

The most private and secure email on the market, and easy to use, with no intrusive analytics.

### 5/5 — How do you set up facial recognition as a security measure?

*2024-11-19, version 5.1.1*

How do you set up facial recognition as a security/ authentication measure?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Update to Codebook 5 Failure

*2024-11-11, version 5.1.1*

I’ve been a Codebook user for many years. I updated my MacBook and iPhone to the latest Codebook 5 version. The desktop version on the MacBook can no longer sync to the Codebook app on my iPhone. The Codebook app on my iPhone still lets me sync to Codebook Desktop on my MacBook at least so my data is preserved that way. If I was to loose, or upgrade my phone, I could not sync or restore data to a new iPhone from the Desktop version of Codebook. There is probably a work around, but a major update should go smoothly without me having to redo the sync setup process. The whole reason I use Codebook is because I don’t have to store my data in a “cloud” server where it can be compromised.

### 1/5 — Where I can get lifetime

*2024-09-24, version 5.0.0*

I could not find where I can get lifetime in this version so offer for who?

### 1/5 — Misrep

*2024-09-24, version 5.0.0*

This app offers an in-app-purchase promotion for iOS that is not accessible. Deleted.

### 1/5 — Difficult To Setup Desktop Device

*2023-09-23, version 4.5.17*

Could not add a desktop to devices.

I have been using CodeBook for years and really like it until now. I have just recently just come into problems when adding a desktop into the mix. I have always synchronized with other mobile, tablets and laptops. Today, I tried to add a desktop. No go. It is extremely hard to do because there is no camera and QR code ability on the desktop.

CodeBook instructions are simple looking but in reality are difficult to know what to do, when you start, and where to go. In the end, you need to “backup” the key and select words. This is not intuitive because you assume you need to start in add device area of the application. I tried following the online instructions.

I repeatedly kept running into unauthorized mismatched keys and had to keep trying over and over. It never worked.

Now looking for an something easier to setup across desktop and portable devices.

### 1/5 — 是否教學一下如何跟前app連結

*2021-06-29, version 4.3.3*

我一直都有在使用前app…但今天開啟時，告知要下載新版app以便連結，但是下載後，卻不知道從哪邊連結⋯😔

### 1/5 — Awful, can’t get data out - use something decent like 1Password

*2021-06-26, version 4.3.3*

Tin

### 1/5 — I don’t know what I’d do without this app

*2020-06-29, version 4.2.0*

For over 20 years, my passwords have been a jumble of mixed case, numerals and special characters. They’d either have to be written down or memorized and they were almost always reused. It is much easier to have Codebook on my phone, tablet and laptop, all synced.

I had trouble with it when the sync key was added to the mix at first, because I had no idea what it was; it gave me choices that I didn’t understand and had little in the way of explanation. With a little work I managed to figure out what to do.

I like that I was able to BUY this app rather than RENT it as seems to be the current trend with apps.

### 1/5 — Sync key has broken the app

*2020-03-08, version 4.0.4*

Do not waste time with this app, been using this for so many years but since they introduced this sync key feature in last update (no idea why as been working fine for many years! Or is it to try and steal user data ) lost all my data and won’t sync with Dropbox and my other devices! Really poor!

### 1/5 — STOP! Codebook is not secure

*2019-10-06, version 3.6.8*

I’ve used codebook for many years and thought it was secure. Just updated to iphone 11 only to find all my passwords had been shared with Apple and were now by default visible in a new Passwords and Apps feature at a simple press of a button. Wow! Way to sellout your customers Codebook. I will have to migrate several hundred passwords now to a new app, or perhaps just paper. Ive recommended Codebook for years, totally regret it now. Codebook, you guys sold your souls and my passwords just to make a buck.

### 1/5 — Absolute charlatans

*2019-09-08, version 3.6.8*

I bought Codebook 2 in 2012. Used it without incident till just recently when the app mysteriously disappeared from my phone. Further investigation found that it had been discontinued and replaced by Codebook 3. So where’s my old data gone. Help required so I’ve now sent their support multiple emails over the last week but have not received a single reply. I’ve even tried their sales team but not one iota of assistance forthcoming. Considering this is supposed to be a security app, I can’t imagine anyone reading this want to take the risk buying it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Codebook support

*2026-07-17, version 5.3.7*

Great product and super technical support. They are very responsive to my questions.

### 5/5 — Great life organizer

*2026-07-11*

Codebook password manager is an essential app in organizing my daily life. I use it to store my id’s and passwords for my accounts and websites. Historically I would manage this data on a MS Word document but it wasn’t efficient. I have over 300 entries in Codebook and I use it throughout every day to access my websites and obtain my account/user data. I highly recommend it as it’s one of those must have life organizers. Easy to use, huge time saver, can backup your data, secure access - it’s my most used app on my phone

### 5/5 — Stable, reliable

*2026-06-29, version 5.3.6*

Been using the app for 10 years. Always stable & reliable with every update. I like how it’s simple & that I can organize based on my habits. Excellent!

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2026-06-09*

I have been using this password manager since it was STRIP (secure tool for recalling important passwords) on a Palm Pilot. I eventually moved my data forward to my iPhone, and have been using it ever since. I have accumulated hundreds of passwords, and find this software to be a perfect mix of security and use ability. Other password software automate things to the point that I feel I don’t have control. I can do that with this if I want to, but I don’t have to.

Great software. Decades of security and still going strong.

### 5/5 — Best Password Manager

*2026-05-30, version 5.3.4*

I have used this product for many years. It syncs between my phone and my desktop automatically. It saves pictures associated with general information I want to protect. I save photos and descriptions of my jewelry for security purposes. Plus I save combinations for safes. It is a versatile program that isn’t just for passwords but for all information that I want to stay safe.

### 5/5 — Great App - Been Using it for Years.

*2026-05-18, version 5.3.4*

Currently I’m still on an iPhone 7 Plus and Codebook has NEVER given me a problem. I love it. The only minor thing is the new icon. It has a little bit of a lower contrast than the previous one. That’s just a preference thing for me.
Keep up the good work!

### 5/5 — The best for security

*2026-04-23, version 5.3.3*

I asked AI about hacking:
“Your data is encrypted using AES-256-CBC with HMAC-SHA512 countermeasures against tampering, and the encryption key derivation uses 256,000 rounds of PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA512 with a unique random salt.
	•	Since Codebook doesn’t have its own servers, hackers are unlikely to bother trying to crack Codebook’s encryption — there’s no central server to target.
	•	It was rated “by far the most resilient app to password cracking” by Elcomsoft at Black Hat EU 2012.”

### 5/5 — Works well with good support

*2026-04-11, version 5.3.1*

I’ve used for years and find it very adequate. Integration with Chrome is working for me.

### 5/5 — You can keep passwords locally securely

*2026-02-01, version 5.3.1*

You can keep passwords locally securely with this, it can back up directly on a local network, so right there it’s better than most of the competition. What more do you need?

### 5/5 — Easy

*2026-01-20, version 5.3.0*

Having a Codebook that I can just look up ALL my passwords and not have to worry if I can’t remember or I’m
Not sure!
