### 1/5 — 2026 Mayflower Compact Quarter

*2026-05-30, version 1.3.1*

I am guessing that the Coin Value Checker is not up to date….. I have been trying to ID the 2026 Mayflower Compact Quarter (first coin issued as part of the U.S. Mint's Semiquincentennial program). The app is unable to check the coin for me because it keeps telling me it can only assess a US coin. This is a US coin!!!!!

### 1/5 — Bad mint

*2026-04-27, version 1.3.1*

Bad price

### 1/5 — Harassment

*2026-03-01, version 1.3.0*

After only 1 coin it is asking for a rating, 2nd coin the same , rd 3 again asking , so I have had only a few minutes with this application and it has asked me 3 times in only a few min if I would rate it , so 1 star for harassing me

### 1/5 — Scam site

*2026-02-08, version 1.3.0*

After my 7 day free trial that was very helpful, I decided to pay the $39.99 for a year. Worst decision ever. It keeps directing me to a site to purchase more access. I bought the premium subscription & have restored it several times.

### 2/5 — Inaccurate

*2026-01-09, version 1.3.0*

Easy to use app, but all the coins I tried said they are valued over $150 which is highly unlikely. The coins are worn, dirty and not defects.

### 2/5 — Not a free trial

*2025-12-28, version 1.3.0*

You have to pay pay and then claim a refund. Geez!

### 1/5 — Misidentify

*2025-12-27, version 1.3.0*

This app seems to misidentify my French francs. 2 samples were identified as American coins

### 1/5 — Don’t bother

*2025-12-22, version 1.3.0*

Tried canceling my membership because the phone camera really isn’t good enough for this and it keeps trying to charge me for the membership although I canceled it a while ago in November. Ridiculous

### 1/5 — Got all the coins wrong

*2025-12-18, version 1.3.0*

Title says it all tried scanning coins and every single one I scanned it was wrong on what the coin was

### 1/5 — Penny

*2025-12-08, version 1.2.8*

I can’t tell what year it is and it’s not a 2009

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2025-12-02*

Very poor picture taking abilities. The only good thing about the app is that you can view what’s trending and look at catalogues other than that I’m canceling.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear CoinValueChecker didn't meet your expectations with the photo recognition feature. We're glad you found the catalog and trending sections helpful.
If you'd like to share more details about the photo issues you experienced, please contact our support team—we'd appreciate the opportunity to improve. We understand your decision and thank you for trying our app.

### 2/5 — Waste of money!

*2025-11-12, version 1.2.8*

The scanner tool doesn’t work at all. Complete waste of money.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not accurate as far as appraisal. And it’s very annoying. I do not recommend this app!

*2026-07-31*

I’m giving this app a one star because every time I get on it’s asking me to write a review 2-3 times each time I get on it even when I’m getting ready to scan a coin and I’m not sure the appraisals are right because I have HeriBase and CoinSnap and their appraisals are way different than this app! It says I have three Sacajawea cheerio one dollar coins and I know for a fact they are not. It’s not worth your money. I do not recommend this app.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your detailed feedback. We sincerely apologize for the excessive review prompts — this has been flagged to our development team for immediate improvement.

Regarding the Sacagawea coin identification, we appreciate you reporting this inaccuracy. To help us investigate and improve, we'd encourage you to share photos of the coins in question. Our team can review them directly and work toward a resolution.

We're glad you find the coin condition feature useful, and we're continuously working to enhance our overall accuracy. We appreciate your patience and hope to earn back your confidence.

### 1/5 — We tried to do it didn’t work

*2026-07-24, version 1.3.1*

It took us five minutes to see the coin right is left left is right

### 1/5 — Wrong sometimes

*2026-07-19, version 1.3.1*

I had a hard time with this app even working. Kept saying I had no signal but my phone showed me I hadn’t. Also got them wrong sometimes and it dose not check for errors like it said it did. So I cancelled my subscription.

### 1/5 — Coin Database

*2026-07-18, version 1.3.1*

The app needs the coin database updated to include newer coins. It is A shame that they push this as being such A good coin app but it can not identify coins properly that are A couple of years old due to the outdated coin database. If they start updating that it would be worth the premium purchase but as it sits now it is not worth the cost and I would not recommend it

### 1/5 — Scam

*2026-07-04, version 1.3.1*

Constantly wrong dates and identifications. Never finds errors.

### 1/5 — Unwanted reviews

*2026-07-04, version 1.3.1*

Why bother me when I'm trying to look at a coin with this stupid pop-up? No I'm not enjoying it. I can't get anything done and you're wasting my free time. Also this is an DDR 1964 Roosevelt and your system did not pick it up. Not sure subscription is worth it

### 1/5 — Tutorial

*2026-07-03, version 1.3.1*

Don’t really know how to find the value of the coin, maybe add a tutorial to help new downloads

### 1/5 — Kept asking for review

*2026-06-30, version 1.3.1*

Takes too long and isn't helpful

### 1/5 — Couldn’t Identify Any Coin

*2026-06-04, version 1.3.1*

As suggested, we used the camera instead of uploading an image. We upped the lighting, gave it a high contrast background, and several chances, with clear photos.

It couldn’t even get the denomination correct.

### 1/5 — Coin year

*2026-06-02*

The app is scanning my silver eagles and selecting the wrong year and can not be changed saying no data. It also will not identify A silver eagle privy coin and I have 2. This needs addressed to work properly as it is A worthless app for me to have paid the premium subscription

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to share this detailed feedback. We're sorry the scanning results haven't been accurate for your Silver Eagles, including the privy coins.

We'd like to investigate the misidentified years and the missing data so we can improve recognition for these coins. Please contact our support team with photos of the coins in question and a description of the issue, and we'll work to resolve it as quickly as possible. Your input genuinely helps us refine our identification accuracy.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app very informative

*2026-08-30, version 1.6.0*

This is a good app. It’s informative it has Auction prices that your coin has sold for in the past some date go back to 2003 but that’s OK. I’m good with that. The only thing I wish it could do is spot errors on your coins DDO and DDR for those who doesn’t know what DDO and DDR that stands for double dye obverse and double dye reverse, I wish they would update it so it could spot errors. I had an issue with some Sacajawea 2000 P coins that said they was cheerio coins however they were not, but they emailed me back quickly and apologize for the mistake I would definitely recommend this app. The only thing about this app is it it’s always asking for reviews and I gave it several review reviews. This is getting annoying. I’ve also noticed that in mince State condition. Some of the coins go for 61 to 63 while others go for 63 to 65. That’s the highest state grade that I’ve seen that far. The coin I just scanned is actually a mint State 68. So this app is wrong on this penny.

### 5/5 — Good app

*2026-08-12, version 1.3.1*

This is a good app pretty accurate. My last review wasn’t very good. However, the creator of the app sent me an email apologizing for the mistake their app made about the Sacajawea Cheerios version they were very kind prompt to respond I sent them pictures of the Sacajawea coins plus their evaluation and they were very appreciative of that. I do like how it tells you about the coin and the condition of your coin is in and gives you auction prices some of date back from 2006, which is OK with me. All I know pretty good app.

### 5/5 — CoinHix

*2026-06-29, version 1.3.1*

This is the best coin checker app I’ve ever used. It’s simple and easy to understand.

### 5/5 — Fun

*2026-06-07, version 1.3.1*

I’m a new collector and this app is awesome

### 5/5 — Pretty good app

*2026-04-16, version 1.3.1*

This isn’t a bad app sometimes it gives you the wrong price of coins such as it said I had three Cheerios Sacajawea dollar coins when in fact they are not the Cheerios kind unfortunately

### 5/5 — Accurate

*2026-02-14, version 1.3.0*

So fun and great to do with the grandkids and help them appreciate money and saving!

### 4/5 — Multiple entries

*2025-11-14, version 1.2.8*

As other people, I would believe that they have multiple coins that they would like to enter into the database that are the same year and the same grade that does not work in this app. Also, there are times when you take a picture from your phone for an entry, it comes up with a stock picture of somebody else’s coin, this is not what I want.
Also i’ve posted a question about the same issues above so far no response ,day two. Therefore, my review three out of five.

### 3/5 — Fix you app!!

*2026-03-07, version 1.3.0*

We paid for this and it crashes all the time or freeze has for a few months and they should give our money back!!!!

### 3/5 — Needs camera zoom

*2025-08-18, version 1.2.2*

Sometimes it works but it’s very difficult to get a good image as to get the coin to fill the circle you need to hold the phone so close it then shadows part of the coin. That could be avoided if the image capture allowed zoom :( 3 pics of the same nickel gave 3 different wrong years. Even when I shone a flashlight on it from the side to prevent the shadow then it produced a contrast shadow. Sadly not much use for nickels, mostly ok for quarters.

### 3/5 — Unsure

*2025-07-13, version 1.1.3*

So many different apps. I have 4 of them downloaded using the free trial and every coin I scan yields a different result on each app. I scanned a 2020 Nickel and it showed as being $3 and MS / then on another app it was VF and $1.1. Another app recognized some of my coins as potential error but waited a few weeks and now they scan differently and are not showing as an error on any other app. Guess the only way to know for sure is by paying for your coins to be PGSD rated ( not sure on the acronym)
