No one in my family could compete with me and I was All alone at the top. Unable to find decent competition, and learning that my brother threw out my iMac, I left my family. Some ten years pass by and now we have Colibricks for iPad! I have great difficulty playing Colibricks on my iPad since the mouse is no longer used. It is far more difficult to master. Suddenly the playing field has leveled off. I'm now back with my family and the competition is fierce! The only downsides of this game: its like half the screen, so that's weird. But the flaw is that the bar frequently misplays - it will move to the right off the play; it will freeze in place; it will discharge balls without your action to do so. What then is a fun game where you develop skills becomes nothing but a frustrating game of losing opportunities to play because of issues with a malfunctioning slide bar. Sometimes the slide bar does not respond to my touch. (No, it's not the device, as I have different devices and I now have a brand new iphone and the game responds the same on them all.) The levels take way too long at the end to finish as I always seem to get to a point where the ball moves SOOOOO slowly around the large iPad screen and just never gets to the last few bricks. I don't like the way it does the special bricks, and there doesn't seem to be any way to leave the screen and resume later. The screen that comes up after completing a level moves annoying slow. If you are a person like me that likes to just get in and out of a game quickly, this one will annoy the heck out of you! ### 3/5 — Sticky Fingers! *2020-04-08* I had this game on Mac long ago, and just purchased it for iPad play. Overall it’s well ported, but by the time you get to the 5th level, your finger is going to start sticking when you try to move the slider, and you will quickly start to lose balls. I think this is due to oil from your fingers mucking up the screen. I don’t know for sure. You literally spend like a half hr just trying to beat one level!! ### 3/5 — So very close... *2010-11-06, version 0* It's fantastic to see Colibricks - a game I've loved on OS X for ages - make it to the iPhone, especially when I thought development on it was dead! It's a measure of how much I loved the OS X version that every other brick-breaker I've downloaded on iOS I hoped - usually to my disappointment - would behave like Colibricks. As is often the issue with an iOS version of a desktop game, there is a risk that the control system doesn't translate too well - but not in this case, the control system, even on the iPhone screen, is simple and easy to use. Unfortunately, this game commits the cardinal sin for any 'pick up and play' game on the iPhone - it doesn't let you play your own music! It could be worse, the sound effects are very good and in great stereo, but for a game that's destined to be played on the train home, you find yourself not wanting to pick it up so you don't lose your music. For this reason, I'm only awarding this app three stars - fix this simple problem (and maybe give us a level creator...!) and this is a 5-star app, definitely! ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Klassiker 1A Umgesetzt! *2025-01-05, version 1.2.9* Steuert sich sogar besser als damals auf dem uralten Macintosh. Unfortunately, it goes crazy after a while and I have to delete and then reinstall it. Of course, I then lose my old scores. It is currently stopping at random places saying I have finished all levels. Sometimes the ball starts at the top of the screen. Wacky things. Still fun but disappointing to be cut off just when you have a good game string going. ### 5/5 — Still my favorite brick breaking game *2022-05-17* I remember downloading this for my old G3 iBook way back in the day. The graphics could use some polishing to bring them up to 2022 standards, but the game play and mechanics are still top notch. ### 5/5 — Never tire of this game! *2019-06-30* Been playing for over 3 years. Always a challenge to try and get a higher score. Also a challenge to get to higher levels without loosing a life. High score (so far) is over 3,000,000. I would like to have the ability to save a game for when my daughter wants to play - but I’d like to keep the game I’m the middle of. ### 5/5 — Still love it *2017-03-28* Been playing this for over six years now. I'm still lousy at it, it it's my go-to game for relaxing for a few minutes on a commute or something. I've never had issues with the controls that weren't caused by either sticky fingers or a dirty screen.
