Produce a YouTube talk show, become the next WWB World Wrestling Backyard Champion, shoot a music video, capture footage for an interview-style documentary, shoot your own sitcom with your family or "Friends", how about a live cooking show? Whatever! The only limit is your creativity... well and the range and strength of your Wi-Fi! Director and edit live video streaming over Wi-Fi... up to six cameras from an iPad and up to four cameras from an iPhone. Send action cues and direct your camera ops, Pan Right! When you call it a wrap, your masterfully edited video is collected and your Director’s Cut is assembled. Watch or share your movie... or transfer to iMovie or another app for further post-production polish. CollabraCam makes it all possible by putting a live multicam production studio in the palm of your hands. For more professional level video production on your Mac, transfer the Edit Decision List (EDL), video and audio to your Mac and import into Adobe Premiere Pro CC. Nice. After import, the Director’s Cut is loaded to the timeline, ready for post. You can also import just video and audio and re-edit with Premiere Pro’s multi-camera editing interface with the Program Monitor. Sweet! *To use HotSpot we suggest the director turn on their hotspot and have cameras connect before starting CollabraCam or a session on any devices. You must be in an area that has Cell Network Coverage (LTE or 5G, for example) or your device will not be able to create a network to use as a Local Area Network (LAN). CollabraCam does not use your data plan. It doesn’t work at all! Refund my money! *2022-06-03* I set up the wifi hotspot as instructed. No instance of the program opened the window allowing me to select the director or cam nodes. Can’t seem to get to work. ### 5/5 — Like it! *2018-06-17, version 3.0.0* CollaboraCam is a pretty cool multi-cam app. The app is intended to be used in collaboration with others, with one person serving as the director. The director taps and double taps to switch cameras and can send visual clues like “tilt down” to other camera operators. Single source audio comes from camera one, so you should use that one strategically. Videos are transferred to the director over Wi-Fi and composited. This relatively quickly. Most of the reviews are 5 to 7 years old, which makes me wonder what happened to the app’s popularity recently. As for recommendations, I think the director’s device should also be given a camera option, so that audio can be controlled from the person in charge. It’s AMAZING. The ease of use and clean look is unmatched by most apps of any kind. I wish it had some picture-in-picture options, a live stream, and possibly the option to overlay graphics. These options in other multi-camera set-ups cost a lot of money, so for $5 I won’t be overly critical, but I’d compromise and pay more, and I know other “directors” would, also. Thanks for such a great app! ### 1/5 — Three Point Oh Noooo *2017-11-03* Bought this app in 2011 when it came out and suffered with other early adapters while all the bugs were worked out. Now that version 3.0 is out, I can no longer download an older version (which was working fine on my older iPad that cannot update to 10) of the app even though I paid for it and oh well who cares, it's just money right? **Developer response:** 3.0 is iOS 10 and up, and is not compatible with previous versions. When the options were weighed, the decision to remove all previous versions from download was not taken lightly, but was undoubtedly the best way to help users avoid potential compatibility issues. ### 1/5 — A waste or money *2017-04-16* This app looks pretty but is not working well. I only Getafe image from 1 camera but the second this showed like color bars and no image from camera I waste 5 dolars. **Developer response:** Sorry to hear you've had issue connecting with cameras. Fortunately, that is a network issue, not an issue with the app. There are a few reasons a director might have difficulty connecting with all available cameras... 1) weak, intermittent or slow Wi-Fi signal, 2) Wi-Fi pollution from an over abundance of networks in the area, or when using the app on a public Wi-Fi network with an over abundance of users, 3) the camera has gone out of network range before the connection is made. All of the afore mentioned could cause the connection to time out. ## Frequently asked questions about CollabraCam™ ### What is CollabraCam used for? CollabraCam is designed for live multicam video production. It allows you to direct and edit video from multiple cameras in real-time over a Wi-Fi network or a device's hotspot. This enables users to create content like YouTube talk shows, music videos, documentaries, or sitcoms with multiple camera angles. ### How many cameras can I use with CollabraCam? You can direct up to six cameras when using an iPad as the director's device. If you are using an iPhone as the director's device, you can control up to four cameras. CollabraCam 3.0 is not compatible with previous versions of CollabraCam. Before starting a session, please make sure that each participant has updated to CollabraCam 3.0. When the director begins a session, all cameras start recording simultaneously and they record the entire time. As the director switches cameras, an Edit Decision List is created. At the end of the session, all of the cameras create clips from their captured video based on the in and out points from the EDL and Camera 1 creates the audio track, then the video and audio is transferred to the director, to assemble the Director’s Cut. The EDL, video and audio can be saved to your computer via iTunes and imported into Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017. Once imported, you can pick up with post right where you left off with capture, ready to tweak in and out points, add titles, transitions and effects... or you can quickly start from scratch and re-edit the footage with Premiere Pro’s Program Monitor multi-camera editing interface. The camera has been improved to increase performance and enhance the user experience... Video Stabilization (for supported devices), Focus and Exposure Lock, Thirds Grid, Zoom and iPhone 7 Plus Dual Camera support.
