### 2/5 — 1080p is max

*2023-08-19*

Low resolution, poor control…

### 2/5 — Sadly neglected. Potential to be the best but needs an update

*2019-09-27, version 3.0.0*

Please consider updating this app with more modern features and support for DJI osmo pocket cams :)

### 3/5 — How about some instructions

*2015-05-20, version 1.9.7*

This app seems to work after the latest update - step-by-step instructions would help since one device needs to be set up as director - but the icons and set up are confusing

### 4/5 — Truly a solution for sports video

*2013-06-16*

I record sports for my teams and I do all different angles. This product has made it so easy to control all angles and deliver highlights a few minutes after they happen. I also love that you can export clips separately and edit on your own.

I'm leaving a star open so the developer does some additional options that would make my life complete. Lol.

### 4/5 — Had a good time with this

*2013-03-20, version 1.6*

I used this app as an experiment covering someone singing the national anthem at a local park event in Brooklyn. I had 3 people download the app on their iPhone 4S and I downloaded it onto mine as well. I also downloaded it onto my iPad. I brought a small generator to the park and plugged in my Airport network box and created a network there. Had each phone connect and the app worked great. The phones linked up easy for me, the cuts looked great.
My issues arose when it came to sound. I positioned the cameras in various positions around the field I was on. I had 2 close up one wide and one in a cut away lock off position showing the field. I had the iPad as the director station and everything seemed ok until we realized the audio gets taken from whichever phone is live. So the cameras that were closer to singing were way too loud, the wide was great, and the cutaway was too low. There seemed to also be a millisecond drop out in audio between cuts.
I would recommend using a laptop and recording continuous audio if you plan on doing anything with phones scattered covering one subject.
I spoke with developer via emails and they were very helpful to me. They explained their plans for advancement, understood that it's a work in progress (and a very cool work may I add), agreed to the issues I saw and were very open to informing me of other issues they've discovered that they're currently fixing. I work in the film industry and also cover concerts and live events and if I wanted pro I'd obviously do the full camera package with HD truck route, but that's not what we're talking here. This isn't for filming something that will be broadcast on network television, this is an app that creates a new creative way to make videos on your phone.
I'm looking forward to the upgrades and hopefully an option to record audio on the directors station instead of from each phone as a continuous track. Keep up the good work!

### 3/5 — Great idea; didn't work

*2013-02-11, version 1.5.2*

My son needed to do a video of a mock cooking show for his home ec class. "Ohmigosh, I know of an app that will let you use 2-4 iOS devices as cameras, that you can pull together in real time. What a time-saver! And it will look way better than a single camera video!" Well, in theory, it would have been great. All of the video from one of the devices had audio sync problems, or was missing audio completely. Half of its clips were soundless. (All devices had the most current version). And with regard to the clips that did have audio, there was a bit of audio lost in the transition from one camera to the other. It wasn't able to pull all the clips together into one video at the end, but luckily I was able to push all the clips to the camera roll. From there I had to import all 42 clips into iMovie and tweak, edit, and overdub to make up for the lost audio. What should have taken 15 minutes took 3 hours. Ooof.

Did I mention the program crashed multiple times in my "figuring it out" phase? It made filming the show very nerve-wracking.

A great idea. Sure hope it gets better.

### 2/5 — Great idea. Doesn't really work that well.

*2012-12-12, version 1.5.2*

Am able to view live cams, but when it "collects" the clips from each cam it won't play back. Doesn't save video to each device. If you don't get to transfer at the end, you're screwed.

Kinda want my money back.

### 4/5 — Great !

*2012-07-11, version 1.5.2*

Yeah, it's great, but I please make to be able work only with iPhone and iPad. (-like I am director on iPad and also I have camera on the same iPad). It's great app, works perfect with my iPhone 3GS.

### 4/5 — very very cool!

*2012-06-27, version 1.5.2*

Can't wait for the HD version!!

### 1/5 — Argh

*2012-03-27, version 1.5.2*

Not a fan of this app.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2012-03-04, version 1.5.1*

Very slow and jerky, not very good at all......

### 3/5 — Crash, crash!

*2012-03-03, version 1.5.1*

V1.5.1 Might be OK but every time you close the camera, the app crashes. Sometimes it just crashes with no warning too.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Useless

*2023-11-20*

Useless does not work waste of money

### 1/5 — Good idea! It doesn’t work at all! Refund my money!

*2022-06-03*

I set up the wifi hotspot as instructed. No instance of the program opened the window allowing me to select the director or cam nodes.

Running 15.5 on all devices:

Iphone 11 pro max
Ipad pro ( wifi)
Ipad pro (cell & wifi)
Ipad mini

I would love this if it works. It just never came close.

### 1/5 — Obsolete - No Longer Works

*2021-04-24*

Bought it when it first came out, but now in 2021 it doesn’t work. Deleting.

### 1/5 — Great idea...but out of date support

*2019-01-31*

Should have read the latest update was 3 years ago. Can’t seem to get to work.

### 1/5 — Three Point Oh Noooo

*2017-11-03*

Bought this app in 2011 when it came out and suffered with other early adapters while all the bugs were worked out. Now that version 3.0 is out, I can no longer download an older version (which was working fine on my older iPad that cannot update to 10) of the app even though I paid for it and oh well who cares, it's just money right?

**Developer response:** 3.0 is iOS 10 and up, and is not compatible with previous versions. When the options were weighed, the decision to remove all previous versions from download was not taken lightly, but was undoubtedly the best way to help users avoid potential compatibility issues.

### 1/5 — A waste or money

*2017-04-16*

This app looks pretty but is not working well. I only Getafe image from 1 camera but the second this showed like color bars and no image from camera I waste 5 dolars.

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear you've had issue connecting with cameras. Fortunately, that is a network issue, not an issue with the app. There are a few reasons a director might have difficulty connecting with all available cameras... 1) weak, intermittent or slow Wi-Fi signal, 2) Wi-Fi pollution from an over abundance of networks in the area, or when using the app on a public Wi-Fi network with an over abundance of users, 3) the camera has gone out of network range before the connection is made. All of the afore mentioned could cause the connection to time out.

### 1/5 — teacher

*2016-11-18, version 2.0.5*

not working

### 1/5 — App Not Working

*2015-04-12, version 1.9.7*

Won't capture video. Worst app I've bought.

### 1/5 — PURE DOO DOO

*2015-03-27*

I've never been more disappointed with anything I've ever purchased before in my life. Support people never responded. The app didn't open or work. When the app opened none of the buttons work. No directions/instructions. No FAQs. If it's thinking or calibrating or loading there's nothing that indicates any such thing. I literally could never get the thing to work. A complete waste of money do not buy. When you open it it's literally just a black screen with the logo there are five icons under the logo none of them explain a freaking thing. I never give reviews, but I took the time to review this one because it absolutely was the biggest disappointment of my life!

### 1/5 — Not impressed

*2012-08-08, version 1.5.2*

Highest resolution is 640 x 480, way too small for any professional application. And with the expensive price, multiplied times four for each camera, that's $24, way too expensive for an amateur filmmaking app, which is what it is.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Like it!

*2018-06-17, version 3.0.0*

CollaboraCam is a pretty cool multi-cam app. The app is intended to be used in collaboration with others, with one person serving as the director. The director taps and double taps to switch cameras and can send visual clues like “tilt down” to other camera operators. Single source audio comes from camera one, so you should use that one strategically. Videos are transferred to the director over Wi-Fi and composited. This relatively quickly.

Most of the reviews are 5 to 7 years old, which makes me wonder what happened to the app’s popularity recently.

As for recommendations, I think the director’s device should also be given a camera option, so that audio can be controlled from the person in charge.

Check out my review at youtube.com/myapplepodcast if you want to see how the app works.

### 5/5 — Awesome App

*2017-11-18*

I won’t go into detail about how awesome this is, though I could. It’s AMAZING. The ease of use and clean look is unmatched by most apps of any kind.

I wish it had some picture-in-picture options, a live stream, and possibly the option to overlay graphics. These options in other multi-camera set-ups cost a lot of money, so for $5 I won’t be overly critical, but I’d compromise and pay more, and I know other “directors” would, also.
Thanks for such a great app!

### 5/5 — Massive improvement with most recent upgrade

*2017-03-10, version 3.0.0*

Looking forward to further improvements in the future. This thing beats switcher studio out of the water, and I highly recommend it to any of my fellow vloggers/youtubers/newscasters out there. You won't regret it. I have my own multi camera pro setup in my home, with a green screen and this app across various iOS running devices as well as a chroma key virtual studio background, all imported through OBS Studio on a PC for rendering power and audio mixing then finally through MimoLive (formerly BoinxTV) for an rtmp outstream to all of the usual streaming places (periscope, YouTube live, Facebook live, my own site, twitch etc). Plus with the Mimolive I'm able to overlay my own personalized lower thirds/chirons/ticker tape, logo overlays, and even integrated on video chat thru twitter hashtags or tweets sent to a designated account. So yeah, it's highly recommended!

### 5/5 — So much fun

*2016-12-02, version 2.0.5*

I really enjoy this app. Great creative advantage over more expensive equipment!

### 5/5 — Super Fab

*2015-01-23, version 1.9.1*

Tried this when it first came out and loved the idea. But picture/resolution quality was poor and connections were flakey. Now with better iPad camera lenses and a new update this is really very cool. The interface is so intuitive. Great job!

### 5/5 — Game changing for the arts

*2012-06-23*

We used Collabracam to record four nights of an in-home theater experiment, giving a worldwide audience access to new plays, and playwrights access to new audiences. While I'm still hoping for live streaming direct from CC, it is an amazing first start to something that ultimately will change the way the arts are presented to the world. Wonderfully easy to use, and great support from Kyle. Tip: do yourself a favor and invest/borrow four iPhone 4 or 4s "cameras", it's worth it ... iPod touch loses synch very quickly and the video quality is poor.

### 5/5 — Fun and unique!

*2012-06-12*

Love this app! It's nice to have a social app that encourages you to actually get together with friends and create something. Takes a little practice because live editing happens really fast! Interesting to see how this could work for citizen journalism or for a blog talk show. If you like video, definitely check it out :)

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2012-04-27, version 1.5.2*

Latest version is excellent, no crashes and ideal when you need to monitor up to 4 cameras without any cables. Exceptional value for the price.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2012-01-01, version 1.2*

Really good app. One Request it says you can u up to 4 camera is there a way to use other people like a log in

Apart from that great app

### 5/5 — Brilliant app. Exactly what I was looking for.

*2011-09-17*

What a great use of the apple device family. This is a very well thought through app with even more potential for the future as well. Very easy to use and very high quality control and output.
