We wanted to mark the occasion with communal gift. Collctiv gave us the platform to do just that. It is easy to manage, the majority of us are of pensionable age and Collctiv is a no nonsense fundraiser, transparent, even non IT-savvy people can set it up and we were able to celebrate the birthday in style. Not clear why all this was really necessary. I was able to create separate pots & share on WhatsApp groups. Messages could be added by those donating so perfect for that. What amazed me more was the customer service. I had a problem withdrawing funds (user error) but the team were so helpful & responsive. I had used a function incorrectly and rather than just dismiss it as my own problem they genuinely wanted to help and understand how it had happened to save the issue for other users and help me out. In this day an age this NEVER happens. So lovely to find a company that genuinely care. I’m so used to companies saying tough luck when issues arise it’s really refreshing to see. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Terrible ap avoid! *2026-06-05, version 3.3.1* Such an awful ap, if you want to access your money pot you have to go through a lengthy ID process including passport for example, address and then selfie tool which absolutely does not work! Very invasive ID procedure and totally unnecessary. ### 1/5 — Read the small print *2025-12-16, version 3.3.0* They do take 12% of you money as ‘support Collctiv’ which is mean unless you opt out. Then they take a ‘tip’ at the end they do not make it clear and a take money by stealth which I think it mean!! ### 1/5 — Fleecing scam *2025-11-20, version 3.1.0* Do not use! In our teacher present collection, every single parent paid something like £2.50 fees to Collctiv, when I tried to get the money I could not get all at once and was charged twice for transfer fees. Really great, exactly what I wanted now 6 of us are out of pocket - thanks Collectiv really great app. ### 1/5 — Rip Off *2025-09-07, version 2.16.2* Do not leave your money in place! I was charged £5 per month for account ‘inactivity’. The reason there was account inactivity was because I couldn’t get the app to recognise my ID. I got fed up and forgot about it. When I finally found out about the monthly charge, I withdrew the remaining £10 and was charged £3 fee. This app is a ripoff. Avoid. ### 1/5 — UK Only *2025-08-05, version 2.16.2* App looks great, but after going through the verification process and actually uploading my ID several times, I was told that the app is available in the UK only even though their about me page says they launched in the US in fall of 2022. Very disappointing and wasted time and I hope my information isn’t stored or kept in any way. ### 1/5 — New update presents payment withdrawal *2025-07-10, version 2.16.0* Sadly since updating the app, I can’t withdraw any funds. In practice, they’ll just shut down your account for using it for exactly what it’s intended for (something I’ve heard from numerous people). There’s also a voluntary (but selected by default) contribution to “assist with costs” - the contribution is absurdly high, so much so that nobody in their right mind would pay it, hence the sneaky practice of making it default. Send a link or use QR code to allow cashless payments. Set up multiple pots for different purposes. Easy to export a spreadsheet of all payments for accounting etc. A great app/tool.
