### 5/5 — Best thing since tumblr!

*2026-06-27, version 10.14*

This app feeling how tumblr did back in the day! It’s a breath of fresh air. It’s aesthetically pleasing, incredibly easy to use, and the nearby feature helps to build queer community. 10/10 no notes

### 3/5 — Will update if sign up requirements change

*2026-06-22, version 10.14*

Really bummed you are required to have either an Instagram or X account to sign up. I choose not to have a Meta and X account, I think for pretty obvious reasons, and so it’s unfortunate that you have to have one just to sign up for this app.

### 2/5 — Keep reading if you’re a woman…..

*2026-06-20, version 10.14*

This app has potential but it definitely feels like i’m intruding on a male dating app. Most of the women on this app (there aren’t many) are already in relationships and not open to actually making new friends (not sure why they’re on this app in the first place). Approval was pretty quick but you can’t see who actually likes you unless you pay for the pro versions. There’s no trial to see what the pro versions look like and this app isn’t engaging enough to pay without being able to test it out first. I hope they focus on marketing this app more to all genders because currently it feels like it’s 90% cis men and 10% everyone else. Anyone who isn’t a white man is in the minority on this app (just like we are irl lol) but the concept of this app is pretty cool.

### 5/5 — Highly Recommend 😎

*2026-06-20, version 10.14*

The Collective is a welcoming and safe space for the LGBTQ+ community. It feels authentic rather than performative, and it’s a great place to connect with others and build community. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-06-17, version 10.14*

Met a bunch of lovely people on here. A fun app, highly recommend

### 5/5 — Solid app

*2026-06-15, version 10.14*

Have loved the connection and community on Collective. Lots of great people with a wide variety of backgrounds and locations. Easy to make new connections and share information.

### 1/5 — Forceful to follow on IG

*2026-06-15, version 10.14*

As per title. Couldnt access to app freely without following IG

### 1/5 — Nothing Groundbreaking

*2026-06-13, version 10.14*

While I praise the idea of having spaces to for queer ppl to find and meet new queer friends, the app has flaws. The main one is the algorithm. If you’re not conventionally attractive, have a perfectly gym fit body, don’t post thirst traps, don’t have a Pinterest perfect aesthetic, then you’ll be seen as unworthy and the algorithm will essentially block you from being seen no matter how much you post or comment/like other ppl’s posts. This feels rly soul-wrenching, makes you feel like you’re worthless and that your existence in the queer space means absolutely nothing

Another thing is that you have to pay a subscription just so you could be more seen by more ppl (they won’t tell you this in the ads), and when you cancel or refuse to buy said subscription the app will use all sort of guilt-tripping tactics to get you to buy it, it tries to lure you with a discount (which isn’t even much) or it tries to get you to promote it to your friends just so you can get a temporary discount

Finally (this is more of a personal experience) a lot of ppl (mostly other gay men) just like the attention of someone liking/commenting or follow them, but they never actually try to engage in a conversation, and if someone does follow back and you start chatting, the conversation lasts only 24hrs (a few days max.) and then the conversation dies, and no matter how much you try to keep the engagement/interest afloat the person barely responds or straight up never replies back. So the concept of having queer spaces where queer ppl can make genuine queer friends is good, but the algorithm and a good number of ppl on the app is what making this it loose credibility. At points it’s no better than Grindr or any other hookup/dating app

### 5/5 — Jump on board!

*2026-06-12, version 10.14*

Really enjoying this app as an alternative to Instagram and there’s a lot of very compelling folks already using the site… well worth a look!

### 5/5 — Gorgeous people!!!

*2026-06-12*

The app is nicely built and pretty intuitive.
It reminds me a lot of tumblr and that alone is a reason to stay.
The majority of users is incredibly beautiful and aesthetics. lol…It seems silly but I find it super agreeable.
Conversations and interactions have been fine so far. It’s all very positive!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — SCAM: An unjustifiably expensive yet worse alternative for Instagram/Tindr/Grindr

*2026-08-20, version 10.19*

Tried this app given the claim that it’s a safe space and alternative for other socials particularly Instagram and grindr, yet I was extremely disappointed
1- it’s pretty much the same thirst traps of chiseled bodies and bulges
2- you cannot text anyone or see who unless you pay which makes it worse than tinder given the high prices
3-Tried the discounted month offer but I was tricked into a $40 for a subscription of a month!
What a SCAM!

### 1/5 — Absolutely waste of time

*2026-08-16, version 10.19*

As I was drawn towards this app due to adverts I thought I’d give it a try but because I don’t want to spend anything on it I can’t even use the app at all unless I do spend money on it absolutely waste of time wouldn’t even recommend it to anyone even if it was the last app to ever exist and I mean that literally unless app very disappointing

### 1/5 — Just go to a coffee shop bruh

*2026-07-31, version 10.17*

This app is basically stuck behind a paywall, if you wanna see who liked your post or you, pay up! Or else it’s not going to show you. It doesn’t match anything, just a ego boost for hot people I guess people if your posts isn’t aesthetic enough it probably won’t even get shown. Nothing works until you pay! I’d say goose is better

And yes like the title, you might have a better chance at meeting a gay person at a coffee shop than in here. Don’t waste your time and give them your personal information, not worth the 2 days of you spending time on that app

### 1/5 — Sucky app

*2026-07-27, version 10.17*

Honestly I’ll stick with Grindr at least theirs people in my area

### 1/5 — Useless and spammy

*2026-07-24, version 10.17*

Mostly this app just spams you with notifications and popups about “features” that you can’t turn off. I get at least 5 notifications a day about people that I should follow who live halfway around the world. I don’t want to follow those people and I especially don’t want notifications that I should follow those people. This app is just trying to be Instagram where you can say if you want friends or dates. Also, why am I forced to follow people at all? If someone doesn’t want to chat with me, I don’t want to be forced to follow them and get updates from them.

The last straw was that I got a notification from Collective saying “We miss you.” Stop. There’s nothing to do in the app besides look at people who aren’t near me.

### 1/5 — Spammy Notifications

*2026-07-08, version 10.16*

Even after you delete your account, it spams notifications.

### 1/5 — Waitlist scam

*2026-07-04, version 10.15*

i’ve been on the waitlist for months now with absolutely no support. they have no problem sending me push notifications as if my account has been approved though. seems the only way to get in is to pay

### 1/5 — Ridiculous

*2026-06-19, version 10.14*

What a waste of time. This does not help people connect, it is confusing and unless you pay, nothing happens. Profiles look fake.

### 1/5 — Misleading!! Just another sexualised gay app

*2026-06-16, version 10.14*

This app really isn’t about making friends or finding a genuine community. Most of the profiles I’ve seen are shirtless men with suggestive photos, so it feels much more like Grindr than a place to build wholesome gay friendships.
The ads make it look like a space for gay friends meeting up for dinners and community events, but that feels very far from the actual experience. It comes across as superficial and misleading.
Honestly, I wish I’d never signed up. It felt like a waste of time.

### 1/5 — dont download

*2026-06-15, version 10.14*

ridiculous that i need my instagram or twitter reviewed just to make an account

### 5/5 — Feels much calmer than Instagram

*2026-08-19, version 10.19*

No algorithm, no ads, no endless reels scroll, just real people with real posts and that’s what made me stay on this app.

### 5/5 — so refreshing

*2026-08-17, version 10.19*

Excited for the collective to grow !!!

### 5/5 — Unique

*2026-08-09, version 10.17*

Love to see such a diverse range of beautiful , creative images. Collective is a safe space and I often use the content to inspire my own artworks.

### 5/5 — Better than meta/instagram

*2026-07-16, version 10.16*

This app is a welcoming and wholesome app that makes me feel comfortable and safe using it. Great way to express all sides of the LGBTQIA+ community.

### 5/5 — 10s across the board

*2026-07-06, version 10.15*

Tumblr and Instagram had a non-toxic baby

### 5/5 — LGBTQ+ Social platform

*2026-07-03, version 10.15*

Now that Collective has been established as a fantastic Social Media platform for LGBTQ+ to connect and communicate. There should be no reason to still use platforms that do not respect this Community’s rights.

### 5/5 — SafeSpace

*2026-06-30*

Cute App for our community
