### 4/5 — Asks continually to be rated

*2023-02-19*

Great dictionary, but it's irritating that it continually asks to be rated five stars before showing the definition of a word. For the price it cost, I should never be interrupted for that.

Great dictionary, but it's irritating that it continually asks to be rated five stars before showing the definition of a word. For the price it cost, I should never be interrupted for that.

### 5/5 — Great Resource

*2021-04-22*

Love it, use it frequently. I used the print version years ago for TOEFL.

### 4/5 — Stop Asking For A Review

*2021-01-02, version 10.0.11*

This app has major emotional insecurity. Every time I open it, which is often because it is a good dictionary, it asks me to rate it before I can use it.

Grow up, dude. Get some self-confidence. Why must you seek validation from me every time I look at you? Is the fact that I am looking not validation enough?

I am starting to cringe because of your neediness. If doing this doesn't make it stop, I will be deleting you and seeking another that is not so needy.

Good day to you, Sir.

### 5/5 — Needs audio

*2020-11-11*

Interesting features to explore such as anagrams, leading to expanding vocabulary

Word of the day needs improvement

### 5/5 — Very comprehensive

*2020-08-15, version 10.0.11*

This is my favourite comprehensive dictionary. It’s worded well and doesn’t get caught up in too many difficult words within the definitions.

### 4/5 — Frequent annoying reminders to rate the app

*2019-10-20, version 10.0.11*

This dictionary is good and has many nice features, but it has the extremely annoying habit of popping up a window asking for a five star rating every time it is fired up. This despite having set up my iPhone to block such requests. Hence only four stars.

### 5/5 — perfect

*2019-09-21*

actually，I have bought oxfords longman collins and so on,this is the best one

### 5/5 — Expensive but worth it

*2019-08-07, version 10.0.11*

This is a comprehensive no-nonsense dictionary for the native English speaker. The full text of the 2006 Collins dictionary - bigger than the Concise Oxford, including variations from around the world (lots of Aussie idioms) and word origins. With the ms dict viewer you can jump to another word in the definition just by touching it and there's also a search history. Unlike the hardcopy there are no usage notes. No probs with loading as the file isn't bloated by sounds or unnecessary features. I'd give 5 stars if the price were lower and if they used the new 9th edition (2007) - but the hard copy costs about $90.

### 3/5 — Words are enough, but the details and descriptions of words are not enough

*2019-07-04*

Hope improve the content in the future

### 5/5 — Brilliant app.

*2019-01-26, version 10.0.11*

Use it a lot. Love the 'word of the day' feature.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Collins Dictionary

*2023-02-10, version 10.0.11*

Keeps asking user to rate it. Very annoying, almost every time you open it, it asks you to rate it...Please let me choose for myself if I want to rate a product.

### 1/5 — Very disappointing

*2022-08-12*

This app is the equivalent of the cheapest paperback dictionary the market. The definitions are completely basic and scanty. I seem to remember that I spent some good money on this app and it is not worth more than $.99.

### 1/5 — Please, STOP!

*2022-03-16*

Every time I open this dictionary app, the FIRST THING I SEE is it asking for a five star rating. The app is okay. Just okay. But incessantly asking users for praise seriously downgrades its overall appeal. Bad form!

### 1/5 — Problem with the app.

*2021-12-11*

Oxford dictionary is the best, no doubts about it.
I am rating the app as a program, no the dictionary.
I bought this app years ago. Then I got a new iPhone and I downloaded in it (the app). I am having a problem where I can’t use it when I am off line nor when I am connected to the internet.
This is really upsetting because I used to use it a lot and now I can’t from this device.
And yes, I did got to options and pressed the option to be able to use it off line — It did not work.

### 1/5 — Unabridged?

*2021-10-24*

This dictionary app claims to be unabridged. That is nonsense. There are lots of words that were not in this app that I looked up. The Miriam Webster app is far better and equally as abridged as Collins. And your cons cost a lot of money. It was a waste and I wish I can get my money back.

### 1/5 — Not sure if it is the best

*2020-08-20*

Love it yet updates needs to speak Word, pronunciation audio, grammar state in catalogue, and definitions for each word, rather than a alternative word send to the definition you’re inquiring. It’s all in the finesse and details that make the difference

### 1/5 — Unsatisfactory

*2020-07-24, version 10.0.11*

This is not what I call an unabridged Dictionary.
Please let me know where the synonyms are. I don’t just want the definitions!

### 1/5 — Collins English Dictionary

*2020-02-16, version 10.0.11*

Great dictionary but the keeps asking you to rate it - which is what a lot of others are saying in their reviews. I thought they were exaggerating. The app developers replied that this only happens on upgrades, which is a blatant lie as I get this every time I open it. Very annoying, especially considering the money you pay for it!

### 1/5 — Costly

*2019-09-10, version 10.0.11*

Way too expensive one with no pronunciation

### 1/5 — Don’t force me to rate you.

*2018-03-21, version 10.0.3*

I don’t want to share the app or rate the app. But I cannot get rid of it. I paid you around £40, just give me the service I paid for. I would rate this 3star if that was not the case.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Solid Reference Tool

*2022-12-08*

After the American Heritage iOS dictionary crashed and burned I looked for a quality replacement. After a couple of experiments with others, I came upon the Collins dictionary. Its intuitive interface takes you to authoritative information. So my search has a very happy ending. It is my go-to dictionary, used throughout every day.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2022-04-02, version 10.0.11*

Excellent dictionary to have at your fingertips

### 5/5 — Works great

*2022-03-13*

Have used this app for about 2 years and always works great

### 5/5 — Great thanks

### 5/5 — Great Dictionary!

*2021-09-21, version 10.0.11*

Excellent

### 5/5 — Collins English Dictionary

*2021-07-29*

Excellent references tool if you want to increase your vocabulary. Also, learn to use words correctly and understanding their meaning.

### 5/5 — Used to be great

*2021-07-16*

I’m giving this 5 stars so it will hopefully stop interrupting my use of it with these annoying requests to give it 5 stars. Good dictionary. Lousy app. Horrible upgrade. More complicated to get get around. Ugly and not so user friendly as it used to be. Loss of functions.
