### 2/5 — Limited content, not for off-line

*2025-08-08, version 10.0.11*

Very limited content, no context for lexemes at all. Also, does not work off-line. Who needs an on-line dictonary app (ie an app for a web page) these days?

### 3/5 — Good app

*2023-12-25*

Good app overall but could be better with improvements in UI/UX. For example, the back button on the word page sometimes is interpreted as a swipe motion so it changes page instead of going back to home.

### 5/5 — Great application!

*2023-05-29*

I truly enjoy the word of the day alert. It stimulates a brain that is very lazy. The dictionary is great but a phrase or two using the word word be most appreciated. Great word checker for definition, clarification of various usage. A fact checker that is reliable in the age of ignorance and deceit.

### 3/5 — Expensive for no reason

*2023-03-21, version 10.0.11*

Good app. Love the word of the day feature. Confused as to why it’s so expensive when there are free Latin dictionaries that factor in declensions/conjugations instead of just the first principle part.

### 5/5 — Latin dictionary

*2022-11-30, version 10.0.11*

Excellent resource to hav on hand.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2022-11-04, version 10.0.11*

Very useful...easy to use, with the bonus of word of the day....recent searches is helpful....all together great

### 5/5 — Good, clean user interface

*2022-10-18, version 10.0.11*

I have been very pleased with this dictionary. It seems pretty comprehensive. Of course one will eventually find something missing or something not working, but it's a whole lot better than many I have come across.

### 5/5 — Q

*2022-09-19, version 10.0.11*

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2022-06-07*

Excellent

### 4/5 — Great dictionary

*2022-05-30, version 10.0.11*

Particularly good flash card setup for retaining new vocabulary

### 2/5 — It’s ok but…

*2022-05-27, version 10.0.11*

I have several of the other Collins dictionaries and the modern language ones have many more features - the verb charts for every verb are especially useful. The Latin dictionary is very basic though, and I would recommend a regular book dictionary as the electronic one doesn’t add value.

### 5/5 — Latin Dictionary

*2022-04-30, version 10.0.11*

It is great and keeps me on my toes with the daily vocabulary check.

### 5/5 — Good

*2022-04-10, version 10.0.11*

Awesomeness maximus

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2022-02-25, version 10.0.11*

Clear, and very easy to use

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not really a dictionary - more a monosyllabic translator.

*2026-05-11, version 10.0.11*

After using this App for under 5 minutes, I'm unlikely ever to use it again. Which is a shame. Especially after paying almost £15.

I've got multiple hard copy foreign language dictionaries by Collins, which are by far and away the best I've found in decades of speaking some of the languages. This electronic copy isn't like them at all.

If you put in a word, then all you get back is a word in Latin. No clues about plurals or how it declines - a key part of a Latin vocabulary book. You certainly don't get the sometimes pages of colloquialisms for one word that you get in the larger hard copies of Collins dictionary.

Don't touch this App. There are free or online versions which are better. Which makes me sad more than angry as a keen evangelist for Collins foreign language dictionaries for over 50 years.

### 1/5 — Where are the conjugations?

*2024-01-25, version 10.0.11*

Unlike my Collins Spanish, French and German dictionary apps, and rival Latin apps such as Scriba, this app does not appear to offer the conjugations of verbs. This is a critical omission. Detail behind individual words and their usage is also sparse, again in comparison with other Collins dictionaries. £14.99 for this??

### 1/5 — Poor reference book

*2023-06-15, version 10.0.11*

I have several Collins dictionaries. The modern language editions (Italian, French, German) are much better, though the price is the same. They are better because they offer very sophisticated help in the form of full paradigms. The Latin dictionary by contrast is pretty basic. Collins should do better

### 1/5 — Poor to the Point of Being Useless

*2022-07-15, version 10.0.11*

Cannot find “stabat” as in stabat mater. Seems only to be able to find infinitives. No conjugations or declensions. You need to be able to speak Latin and derive a word’s root before this non-dictionary can find it. Suggestions for “stabat” begin with the letter A. Presumably it wants you to scroll through the entire word list. No thanks. Very Boo and very Hiss.

### 1/5 — Poorly designed. Says same word of day every day.

*2022-06-29, version 10.0.11*

Poorly designed. Was better when first came out. Now updated version has really bad colors. With io15.5 poor design and constant flaws it is this app or iOS. iOS 15.5 is horrible. Word of day keeps coming up as Adventus. Please fix. Everyday same word. How is this normal? Used to work.

### 1/5 — $15 for this?

*2022-03-31, version 10.0.11*

I paid $15 for what was called the “best Latin dictionary out there” for students. This thing is the BARE MINIMUM. Barely any information at all. Ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Mobi system's abusive "rate the app" pop-up

*2021-03-23, version 10.0.11*

I have four paid dictionary apps, some were quite expensive, which have been taken over by this company. Each one now has a "rate the app" pop-up that blocks the screen and gives you only two options: "not now" or "rate 5 stars". Unless you rate this app five stars, this pop-up will continue to appear. Do not purchase, Collins Latin, Oxford Hackett French, Oxford Paravia Italian, or Oxford Duden German apps if you think this is abusive.

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2020-02-26*

When you need a dictionary in reading Latin texts, the words you look up are usually not in dictionary entry form. Unlike paper dictionaries, online and app dictionaries can be programmed to answer the queries in conjugated and/or declined forms.

Unfortunately this dictionary basically answers the queries in entry form only. If you type your query letter-by-letter, you still have a chance through the suggestions the app gives. But it isn’t the case with many words, exempli gratia “latum” (perfect participle, singular, masculine accusative or neuter nominative/vocative/accusative, of the verb “fero” which has three different stems!).

It is better to consult Wiktionary on your browser, it’s FREE.

### 1/5 — Annoying & limited + endless damands.

*2019-01-26, version 10.0.11*

Demands five star reviews but provides very limited vocabulary and no conjugations or declensions.

### 1/5 — I have

### 5/5 — Latin

It works pretty well. Well, it annoys me by asking me to invite my non-interested or non-Latin-speaking friends to buy-in to their product.

Fab purchase!

### 5/5 — Learn with fun

*2023-08-03, version 10.0.11*

Good dictionary which includes common phrases and idioms in the definition; well presented; fun play with Hangman and other games. Also has Word of the Day. I don’t know when I will get to use “dolium” (hogshead) but I am happy I now know it.

### 5/5 — Worth the Money!

*2023-06-01, version 10.0.11*

Highly recommended!
