The free version will grayscale or black and white your photo. To color it you have to upgrade. This would be ok if it were more than just very basically functional. The color pallet colors that are chosen don’t even translate remotely closely to the picture. They all come across as a pastel variation of what was selected. For example, a cobalt blue that was selected was actually a pastel light blue/purpleish on the picture. Also, your brush option limited to one circle cursor that you can control the size of. But doesn’t adjust down small enough. Not much good when trying to get into right angles or corners. The only reason this app is rated at 4stars is because they ran a promotion that if you rated them 5stars they’d upgrade you for free. ### 1/5 — Waste of storage *2019-02-03, version 1.0* So I wanted to recolor an image from my gallery and the app description says that the app is 💯% free so I am about to recolor it and then I get a screen that says would you like to upgrade to pro and remove all ads and then it was going to make me pay for it 😤. It said the app was 💯% free but that’s obviously not the case so please don’t let them fool you 👍 ### 1/5 — Horrible App *2018-11-22, version 1.0* First of all, I couldn’t even try out the re-color option without buying the app. So I buy the app, and come to find out, you have to recollect with your finger! I’m looking for an app that lets me click on one color and replace it with white. This app doesn’t do that at all! Waste of $1.99. Don’t buy this app! ### 1/5 — Please explain what this is supposed to do *2018-09-08, version 1.0* What a complete waste! Deleted it after about 90 seconds. My photo launched in greyscale. I can choose “color” to rub my finger over and bring back the original colors in the photo. Change color of anything in the photo? Apparently not unless you pay to upgrade. But to do that, I have to pay! I get it, the people have to earn their money, and their only other option is ads. I get it. But I'm not going to spend money to recolor a photo. On my iPad Pro the interface can’t keep up with my finger let alone my Apple Pencil. The $2 upgrade doesn’t let you do what it says you can do - can’t re-color even after paying for it. It is a joke. The colors are see through and not anywhere near vivid. The colors also do not automatically fill an area. You have to use your finger to "paint" the areas. The description for this app explicitly says you can recolor/ change colors of your photos and that it's 100% free, yet you have to pay to unlock the ability to change the colors? All you get in the free version is the option to change certain parts of your photo to black and white. This app should not be named "COLOR CHANGER" and be marketed as a free app which allows you to CHANGE COLORS if you CANNOT DO THAT WITHOUT PAYING. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — FALSE ADVERTISING! DOES NOTHING UNLESS YOU PAY $$ *2022-04-28, version 1.0.1* Total false advertising. You can’t do anything but watch a tutorial on highlighting the areas you want to recolor and then when you open your picture you can’t do anything until you pay this liar $4.99! I mean nothing, nada, zip, zilch. Look at how the developer brags in bold %100 FREE! It must have been opposite day in his head because that is a total lie. Just straight up bold face lie! This should be taken off the app store for that alone! ### 1/5 — Slow laggy waste of time *2021-06-22, version 1.0.1* It’s just so laggy and it just can’t run on anything, it has nothing to offer and the fact you have to upgrade to even recollect even though the whole app’s purpose is disappointing I would not recommend this ### 1/5 — This app is not actually free! *2021-06-06, version 1.0.1* As soon as the download the app, the only option it gives you is to turn the photo to black and white. You can’t recolour anything unless you buy the pro which is $4.99 so you are essentially buying the actual app. ### 1/5 — Rip Off *2021-05-28, version 1.0.1* It doesn’t change the color AT ALL. All it does is replace it with a low opacity grayish tint. Not only that, but it makes you pay for it. There is no testing out the color changer, so you don’t know that you’re about to be ripped off when you pay for it. Don’t use this app. ### 1/5 — Does not change to the color you want. *2021-03-03, version 1.0.1* I paid $4.99 for this and the colors don't change to the color you pick. I was trying to do white and the original color still shows and it comes out gray. It makes it like see through and does not change the color. Don't waste your money. ### 1/5 — Awful App *2019-09-02, version 1.0.1* The app is useless. The free version kept showing ads and basically forcing me to buy it. The paid app is barely useful. Wverything is manual. The app offers pretty much nothing to make the recolorig easy. And finally, after I recolored an image manually after half an hour, when I wanted to save it, it crashed and I lost all my work. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2019-08-29, version 1.0.1* Got it to change the paint color of my truck and was disappointed. The grey beginning is kind of pointless and it’s dumb how you don’t have the option to start with color. Not only is the app barely useable with how it lags around, but even if it was good, it brings the picture quality down 25% when it loads. I figured I could change the colors but had to pay $2 to change it so I bought it and black looks grey because it’s that transparent. ### 1/5 — SCAM DO NOT GET THIS APP!!! *2019-07-22, version 1.0.1* I got into the app, chose what I wanted to change the color of, and then was told I had to pay $2 to do so. Once I confirmed my payment of 2 dollars, I attempted to change the color of the object I chose, only to find that the color remained the same when I applied the second color. It was transparent and did not look legit at all. This was a complete disappointment. I do not recommend it. ### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time & $$$-Refund needed *2019-06-06, version 1.0.1* Only one star because you have to put at least one for a review. All the negative reviews are correct. IT’S NOT FREE. I bought thinking it was a legit app. You can only use five pastel colors that are transparent over your grayed out image. The colors on the color spectrum are not true. The before & after example pictures are bogus. This is false advertising at its finest. HIGHWAY ROBBERY! I want a refund!! ### 1/5 — Crashes when trying to save and isn’t free *2019-05-21, version 1.0.1* Paid $2 to do what I actually wanted to do which was recolor... you would think that an app for free called that would do it for free.... and then after long minutes of making my picture perfect, the app crashed when I tried to save... tried again... Even though I’m having an issue save my work to photos. It crashes when I do that. I can only save it to files. I didn’t take away any stars for that. Maybe it’s me. I’m using iPad Pro 2nd edition & I have the latest iOS version. Hopefully the Dev can help with my issue. ### 5/5 — iPhone 11 problem? *2020-01-10, version 1.0.1* The app isn’t the bad, as much as the others say it just takes some time to learn. It is $1.99 but it’s worth it in the end if you can do well with this, it works. However I just got the new iPhone 11 and...I can’t undo or change my brush sizes like before. Maybe I’m blind, but it’s not there anymore due to the change in the system. ### 5/5 — The Free Version Is Great for Quick Grey Applications *2019-04-21, version 1.0* The free version allows you to grey out areas of a picture. There is a circle tool and then the pencil tool allows a smaller wand. There is a zoom function that allows you to get closer, and then it gives an expanded window so you can see even more. ### 5/5 — A true rip-off *2018-04-27, version 1.0* This app is a true rip off, to be able to change color you have to upgrade to pro for $1.99 and you dont even recolor, all you can do is the cheap super transparent colors over your black and white picture!
