However, as someone who would use it for breaking down the color for basic colors- I would want to be able to choose between RGB / CMYK or if I want to use both. Thanks for great app! ### 5/5 — Very good App for Oil Painting! *2018-08-23, version 1.1.1* I use this app to understand mixing oil paints. It’s extremely useless and you will learn from using it. Even if you have too much paint left over, you can use the app to see how to change from one color to another with exactly percentage to use to convert. Hopefully the app developer continues with this app! ### 3/5 — Needs more development. *2018-08-14, version 1.0.1* So far so good, but it’s missing quite a bit. I’m using this to visualize which colors I need to make the perfect hair dye color. Definitely needs more color options, especially a “make your own” color from a color wheel. It’s hard to find specific colors. For example, the color I want has magenta in it. So, I want to see which colors magenta is composed of. I can’t find a pure magenta on the color choices. Or maybe the app assumes it’s a primary color? Don’t know. This app would be perfect and so helpful if it could keep the chain going. A fix is already submitted and should be available for download soon. ### 2/5 — Barely Usabale *2020-06-28, version 2.5* I bought this to get access to the custom mix/unmix feature. When unmixing a color, it requires you to pick 4 colors from your library. This may result in weird combinations or not a complete match at all. I have hundreds of colors in my library and I would rather the app be able to choose the best colors in it to come up with the least combinations to achieve the target color. The color picker using the image selector is also barely usable. Pinching and other gestures don’t seem to register correctly, intermittently at best. Picking the desired color in an image is almost unusable because it just so hard to get the target circle in the correct zoom level and position. This app has a lot of potential, specially with the added hobby colors. Suggestions, in addition to the mix and color pick issues above: 1. Please add the ability to add the entire hobby color range, or multiple brand ranges, as unmix colors. I can always go out and buy the missing colors if it helps get a better mix. 2. Add Ammo by Mig and Citadel to the color library. There are a lot of other brands, but with these two you will have a larger percentage of the market. 3. Please fix your website. The domain ideamats.com is parked and users have no way to ask for your support, other than writing a review. ### 3/5 — Realism Varies *2025-03-20, version 2.6.1* This app is almost perfect but has one major flaw. When I was testing the color mixing features for accuracy, I noticed that every time I mixed yellow with blue, I would get a gray shade or a very muted grayish-green. This should be how digital color mixing works, but this app claims to simulate real pigment mixing, and for the most part it does, but it never works with yellow and blue. If there is something that I am doing wrong, please inform me of what to do, because this is the best free color mixing app I have found by far. ### 3/5 — Not enough color brands. *2023-04-16, version 2.6.1* Would be nice if more color brands would be added. Brands which are meant for mixing. But it’s worth the upgrade. It isn’t perfect, but gets a good base line so you aren’t wasting paints. My only complaint is that you can’t save mixes in the colour library under My Colours for easier sorting for future, although even in the saved mixes it’s great for noting mixes you’ll likely use in the future. ### 5/5 — Don't be discouraged by negative reviews *2022-10-31, version 2.6.1* I usually scroll by if an app doesn't have 4.5+ stars. I almost did that with this app, but I'm so glad I didn't. It has so many useful features to better understand color, color relationships and paint mixing. This app is invaluable for artists, painters, photographers, cake decorators, designers, students and just anyone who wants to learn more about how colors relate. Try it out.
