### 2/5 — Visualize no longer works

*2024-02-19*

Was a good app to use, especially liked the visualize feature as it made it easy to combine different colors and see them together. However that hasn’t worked in quite some time.

### 2/5 — Can’t paint my own house

*2023-09-21*

I love Behr paint, and found colors I wanted for the exterior of my house, but with this app, I can only see how they look on random houses, not my own. That defeats the purpose of using the app.

### 1/5 — Bring back old app with color wheel

*2023-03-31*

This is the worst app udate. It constantly freezes at point when your choose colors & you have to restart. This app is not user friendly and has limited options. Very time consuming and useless. The older app where you could remain on image and change colors was way better. Why did they change a good thing? Who does that?

### 2/5 — Old version

*2023-03-22*

The older version was nice. About 2 yrs ago, you could save a large amount of your favorite colors. Then you could easily pick out around 8 different colors for your pallet. NOW I have a hard time placing 2 colors on my pallet & I can’t find a place for favorites. Please, bring back these features!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2023-02-10*

Froze up and stopped working after first use. It’s a shame since I only buy Behr and I’m doing a full remodel. Back to the Home Depot app I guess which had way less capabilities.

### 1/5 — …

*2023-02-03, version 3.1.3*

why does it delete my projects??

### 2/5 — Incorrect paint colors

*2022-11-26, version 3.1.3*

Fantastic idea where I can see how paint colors look in different types of rooms. The big problem is the colors don’t match the paint names. They do provide a pop-up warning say colors may not match, but that is a poor excuse for not being able to get the correct hex number for the color. I bought gallons of paint, and now that the paint is dried on the walls it doesn’t match the colors expected based on looking at the app. Eg. “Chain Reaction” shows up as a light gray on the app but in reality it is a light blue. I would use the app again for contrasting colors, but definitely not buy any paint until I see the swatches as well.

### 1/5 — Needs massive Work

*2022-11-17, version 3.1.3*

The Color Match does not work- it retrieves too much light and does not capture the wall or other light colors. It does not give you a proper matching color for your existing walls to match or touch up! It’s just another app at this point! Very disappointed

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2022-10-29, version 3.1.3*

Colors not accurate at all . I expected not to be perfect but come on. This is very misleading not even close.

### 1/5 — Worse that useless

*2022-10-27, version 3.1.3*

Don’t bother, almost any update will delete any saved projects. I don’t care how good their product is, I’ll never buy it thanks to the app.

### 2/5 — Crashes all the time

*2022-10-15, version 3.1.3*

Could have been such a great app but it keep crashes and if you haven’t learned how to deal with it everything u have worked with disappear and u have to do it all over. Too many bugs and unfortunately I see people say over a year ago it happened then so it doesn’t seem to be a will to fix the app either

### 1/5 — Awful App

*2022-10-07, version 3.1.3*

Was excited to find this app… unfortunately it is very buggy. Spent a lot of time creating projects to find they do not save when you exit the app, no save button so assumed it it auto saved. It does not. Randomly crashes, often taps are not recognized, and paint selection arrow seldom work. Also found the color families to be simple tints that have very little variations. Bottom line, don’t waste your time with this.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2022-07-28, version 3.1.1*

The app either crashes, freezes my phone or just sits with the loading icon.

### 1/5 — Crap app. Wastes your time

*2022-06-11, version 3.1.1*

1. It lets you take a picture of your room. You think it will let you apply colors to the photo you took? NO. The colors can be applied to their own preselected photos. So can’t see how the color will look in your room.

2. I first selected a set of colors and put them in my favorites. Now you would think you can use these favorites for your project? NO.
You can move colors selected in the projects to favorites but not the other way around.

Give my comment 1 I find this app useless. It’s only use is to see one of theirs colors in their rooms and it might have some benefit in see the matching/contrast pallet for a color you select.

Main challenge is selecting a color that you can see how it will look in your room.

### 1/5 — Trash

*2022-06-10, version 3.1.1*

This app could be amazing but it just beyond annoying when you can’t scan the color or barcode. It’s horrible

### 1/5 — The Worst Paint App Ever

*2022-05-30, version 3.1.1*

I thought that with it’s well-regarded Behr paint line and all the resources that Home Depot has access to, this was going to be a very helpful app. I was wrong.

Main Problems:
Cannot upload your own image so you are restricted to a handful of generic options of household rooms or exterior. However, you can upload your own photo to identify your project, because apparently words such as “front door” are not sufficient. 🙄
The closest match to the exterior of my home was a photo of a white bungalow. Every paint color I selected to view on this sample house showed up as a pastel version. Even dark colors. Very dark colors.
The “My Colors” option has a heart ❤️ icon, so I figured it was like the favorites function of most apps. As I searched colors, I saved the ones I liked to My Colors. Turns out, My Colors is NOTHING BUT A STINKING SHOPPING LIST. You cannot use My Colors to select paint colors to show on the sample photo. You cannot do anything with this list except order paint.
You can save colors to a Project - See #1. However, you cannot easily view colors that you save to a Project on the sample photos.
The very worst aspect of the app is how ridiculously complicated it is to view colors on the sample photo. As mentioned in #3 and #4, there is no method to view your saved colors on the sample image. Once you are at the sample image, you can only select a color by searching the color’s name, searching within a color family or by using the color matching mechanism. Then, after you look at one color on the sample photo, you have to start all over again if you want to see what another color looks like.
The color family groups appear to be randomly arranged. It would be helpful if the colors were grouped by tones, arranged from light to dark, similar to how strips of paint chips are arranged.
The app crashes a lot too.

### 1/5 — Laughably inaccurate paint matches

*2022-04-08, version 3.1.1*

I took pics of my turquoise room, my aqua bathroom and my tan walls… it said they were all different variations of very dark grey and/or taupe and every time I did it I got a different answer— they were all grey though, even though the colors were clearly blues. Ridiculously bad

### 1/5 — Will not load.

*2022-03-27, version 3.1.0*

Tried to open the app several times and the loading circle just spins.

### 1/5 — What’s the point?

*2022-03-02, version 3.1.0*

Wasted time downloading this app. Can’t visualize paint on pictures you take.

Using some random photo isn’t helpful.

### 1/5 — Behr Color not so Smart

*2022-02-06, version 3.1.0*

Can’t add colors to your own photo. What an underwhelming and useless app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bring back the project color app !

*2024-04-30*

This new version takes so many more steps to try to see a color in a mock up of a room! It was much, much easier in the project color app to find colors, with full size pictures , not a smaller than an inch peek at the color on one side with even smaller color palette colors on the side. It was infinitely more helpful to see an example of a room with the paint color than selecting a color, then a room category , then a room, THEN touching on it to color the wall. The old one made it easier, with much bigger swatches, to see different shades of the selected color & coordinating colors.
This is the first review I have ever done over 15 years of using iphine apps, that's how awful , cumbersome, & time consuming this one is!

### 1/5 — What have you done to this app???

*2024-04-16*

This used to be the best app. You were able to select projects, pick one of the set pictures and get a idea of how your project would look. It no longer loads any of the project photos. I don’t know what you did, but you should fix it. As it is this app is useless for anything but color matching.

### 1/5 — Terrible app design

*2024-04-09*

This app is a total disappointment. I painted my garage with Behr a few summers ago and the quality of the paint is excellent, but you would never be able to find a color here. The colors are poorly organized, Behr doesn’t have many examples of the color in use, they don’t recommend complimentary colors, it’s an absolute nightmare to navigate. This is a design based product. The world is full of designers and DIY ers who paint different projects daily. The app should show those projects, but it just delivers a single shot for each color. This marketing company should be fired. They’re killing the brand.

### 1/5 — No support, features not working

*2024-02-20*

Used to be a good app for general color ideas - paint a room was the one I used frequently along with looking at palettes for colors I already have on the walls for ideas to freshen things up. Paint a room now grays out when you try to “apply” to the picture. Would have contacted app support / developer but those links bring up a “We’re Sorry” page does not exist message.

### 1/5 — Not reality

*2023-11-17*

Not even close the the color that showed. This is not a case of every phone shows a different color because of settings blah blah. I took a picture of the wall I painted and it was red and in person it was red the name is called leather clutch so it should not be red at all just plain brown. It’s not even close.

### 1/5 — Please, pull this off the App Store

*2023-08-02*

Virtually paint pictures of rooms. Provides sets of canned room pictures to try it out on (why?). Allowed me to upload my own photo, which is the whole point. BUT AFTER WASTING MUCH TIME, REALIZED THERE’S NO WAY TO PAINT IT. BEHR, WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO YOUR CUSTOMER (former customer now)? FYI, the equivalent widget on their website is also useless.

### 1/5 — Very Nice Useless App

*2023-07-27*

Would be a really great app if you could actually visualize the color in your space. It’s a shame because I really like behr paint but I’m currently sitting in 8 gallons of unused paint because I couldn’t visualize from the swatches. Learning my lesson I’m trying to use a visualizer but I guess I’ll just have to use a different brand

### 1/5 — Very frustrating

*2023-06-27*

You can create a project and pick colors for it but then can’t do anything else with it.I’m Trying to visualize what my home would look like with exterior colors but doesn’t seem to be anyway to do it on an existing pic.

### 1/5 — So frustrating!

*2023-06-20*

For an amazing paint company they need more focus on this app. I would love to be able to insert a photo of the room I am planning on painting not picking what a paint color would look like in some model home. I would also like it to not have it crash every few mins. You IT humans have some work to do!!

### 1/5 — Awful App

*2023-04-30*

App works it just isn’t helpful. You can save a color you’re interested in but all it does is give you the option to buy that color or remove it. You can’t pick from that color when Tom planning or anything. It feels like there were multiple teams developing this app’s features that didn’t talk to each other or have any intelligent coordination.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Wonderful app!

*2021-01-24, version 3.0.1*

This app was recently updated and with all the right features! There are so many options to scroll through with paint pallets for a room and allowing you to see the color in your home. I am obsessed with this app and will be using it for all my future home projects.

### 5/5 — Very helpful if not quite perfect app

*2011-09-28, version 1.1.1*

This app has helped me match up colors in general. For the reviewers who noted the colors do not match, remember that the iPad is a backlit device, and what a color looks like in actual light is reflective, so if you use 5,000K lights in one area and 3K lights elsewhere, what you see will be vastly different. That is why when you in home depot the chips are under daylight balanced lights . . . So NO, this app is not going to show you exactly the color - but that has nothing to do with the app itself.

This app allows you to take a photo, load it, and then try and match the color. You can then a panel of 4 matching colors and swatches, which again, are ideas. It works. I could not find any other program remotely close to this app.

The issues are the interface - for example, if you hit edit to edit a color in a 4 color swatch, there is no way to then turn the edit badges off. Also, if you go to preview the colors, it switches to that area and there is no back button, so it took quite a while to figure out basic navigation. My specific issue was I am doing wainscoting and a chair rail and there is not a single picture with a normal chair rail height wainscot.

However, this is a very good example of what a manufacturer can do to assist it's customers and their paint has worked well for me, even if the home depot experience itself has degraded over time.

If you use Behring paints, this app is a helpful, but not final, visualizer.

### 4/5 — Helpful but far from great

*2016-08-09, version 2.3.0*

Giving four stars for novelty. I found this app helpful in choosing colors for my house-- however, the colors in the app are different from from actual Behr paint samples and the Behr color cards found at Home Depot. I purchased 5 paint samples at around 3 bucks each which saved me a lot of money overall. Advice--pick 3-5 colors, save to favorites, preview them on the app, and take a screen cap of each room. Go to Home Depot (or other) and find the color card for each color; they are organized by number on the Behr wall. Compare your screen caps with the color cards. Again, I found that the colors I picked on the app were much different, so I found new colors that matched the ones on my screen and ultimately bought those samples and took them home. I painted 6"x6" panels in the darkest part of the room and also under a window and ultimately found a color I liked. Hope this helps!

### 4/5 — Thank you for bringing this app to iPad!

*2014-08-19, version 1.2.4*

I have used the Behr Color Smart apps extensively for both personal and business use on PC, iPhone, and now iPad. I have selected interior colors throughout my home and am now choosing an exterior color palette. I also use the Color Smart tool at work with customers often as an associate for Home Depot.
I would make two changes to this app. I don't like that I can't build a palette using specified colors and save it as a palette. For iPhone you can choose your color and build your palette, choosing your color as the main or an accent. That functionality isn't in the iPad app at this time.
In addition, I had trouble visualizing my exterior colors because there was no craftsman style available to view a two tone exterior that has both cedar shakes and traditional siding. In absence of an appropriate sample picture, I could have uploaded my own picture to view my color choices, but this app lacks that functionality as well.
Overall, I think this is a great app for choosing colors and does a great job of guiding you to colors that suit your needs!

### 4/5 — Surprisingly good, very useful!

*2014-03-20, version 1.2.4*

The various features are all useful, and I don't have any real complaints. But to make this a five star app rating, here's what I need from this app.

The color palette showing all the colors together is good, but you have to tap on each individually to see the color name. Could you have a floating pop up box give just the color name when it is touched, and a tap to go to the "full description"? Also, please make it easier to "favorite" the colors. Allow each color to be tapped once to "favorite" it, leaving a highlighted box around each selection to show it as marked. Could you add an option to make the color sample full screen for better comparison, perhaps be able to "slideshow" the favorites by swiping to compare. I'd like to be able to add up to 4 colors on a full screen to compare them. How about integrating the camera so that while you're looking at the view of the wall in real time, the chosen color sample is half or a third of the screen, to better visualize how that color will look?

And definitely, please add a masking effect so saved camera photos can be used, allowing areas of the selected color to "replace" areas in the photo.

### 4/5 — Not always intuitive

*2013-01-02, version 1.2.2*

I was excited about having an app like this at all. Picking out paint colors is such a grueling process. This app is good, but it took me several uses before I figured out that deleting a color from a color palette didn't permanently change the color combinations. I didn't want to lose the original combos. It was nice that I was able to choose any color to mix and match. A scroll over quick tip would have been nice to have to help new users. Also, the only sharing options are social media and the Behr workbook. The latter asks the standard contact info, which was cumbersome. I would have liked to be able to just mail an image of the room I placed in my favorites to my spouse, but no such luck. Hopefully, Behr will add this feature in the future. Other reviewers are right that the colors don't match swatches either. Cricket looks way different between app and paper swatch.

### 4/5 — Nice Useful App

*2012-06-20, version 1.1.1*

It's not perfect but I've found it very useful. You can choose any color and it helps with colors that might work with it. You might not agree but you'll still get some ideas for choices you prefer.

You can use your choices to "paint" some idealized rooms and see how your selected colors look together and from room to room. All the rooms are huge designer rooms that look like something from an architectural journal. It would be nice to see some regular rooms from real homes where real people actually live.

You can save favorite colors and color schemes with rooms for later reference. All favorites can be saved in your free online account area and you can retrieve them from any device.

I discovered that some of the colors in the palate are no longer carried by Home Depot. They have the formula and will mix the color for you but it's a special and not returnable. And I also noticed that colors containing yellow look much less yellow in the app than they do on a sample chip or wall.

There is plenty of room for improvement in this app and I hope the app is popular enough to convince the company to make those improvements. Most of the features it has are pretty useful. It helped me struggle through a lot of decorating decisions. But plan to spend some time with the app. Pull it up over coffee and meals and get to know it. It will help.

### 4/5 — Pretty good

*2012-05-15, version 1.1.1*

The App allows to see different colors on the wall which is great. You can paint many walls different colors to see if the colors compliment one another all in the same room. However I had no success in using my own photo of my own rooms. That was disappointing because I had thought that was one of the features this app offered. I may be uploading incorrectly but I don't think so. I also wish it gave us different choices of moldings and various crown molding to add to the room in addition to the colors. all in all it's a good app if you are interested in seeing what the rooms the App provides (as I said I couldn't load my picture the App seemed to not work with my own photos) seeing complimentary colors together. Very cool how the app automatically chooses complimentary colors. Kinda like having a free professional interior painter with you. All in all I enjoy the App and it has helped tremendously in seeing colors together. I hope the app without extra cost to us, would add some of the things I mentioned. I also hope for my future projects, i will be able to successfully use photos of my own rooms;) it's worth having the app as is though.

### 4/5 — Helpful

*2012-03-06, version 1.1.1*

Great app to use as a basic reference and get a general idea about color schemes. No one should be making final decisions and purchasing paint based on this or any other app. Use it as a reference tool but definitely go to the store and get the sample cards. This app makes it easy to find them because it gives you the paint number. Take several samples of the colors you are interested in and tape them on different walls of the room. Then check them at different times of the day and at night. This will give you the best idea of what the color will actually look like once painted. Then go back and make your purchases. Yes, its several trips but its better to be sure then to spend money on paint that doesnt look like you thought it would. The only thing this app lacks is the ability to download your own picture to use as a reference and when I took several photos of behr paint currently in my house, the color it listed was wrong. Overall its a great reference tool

### 3/5 — Doesn’t Sync Across Devices

*2021-06-07, version 3.0.1*

So far, I like using the app. However, there doesn’t seem to be a way to create an account and login so that content can be accessed from different devices. I prefer to create projects and plan on my tablet at home due to the bigger screen. However, I would need to access those projects from my phone when not at home. Otherwise it’s kind of useless for me. I felt like I had wasted my time when I created my first two projects in the iPad app, only to realize I couldn’t access them from the iPhone app.

Please fix this, and the app will be much more useful!
