## What is ColourTemp?

ColourTemp is a colour temperature and flicker detection tool built for working videographers, DPs, cinematographers and gaffers.
Point the camera at any light source for an instant Kelvin reading. Switch to flicker mode to detect mains-frequency flicker before it becomes a post problem.

COLOUR TEMPERATURE

Measure light from 2500K candlelight to 9900K open sky. White balance is locked to a fixed 5600K reference for consistent, repeatable readings across a shoot. Readings are close approximations — a fast, practical guide for the set, not a replacement for a calibrated colorimeter.

FLICKER DETECTION

Uses 240fps camera sampling and FFT analysis to detect 50Hz and 60Hz mains flicker and harmonics. Also flags PWM dimming on LED fixtures that conventional measurement misses.

BANDING RISK CALCULATOR

Set your project frame rate and shutter speed. ColourTemp calculates instantly whether your current combination will produce banding — and can snap to a safe setting automatically.

FREEZE & COMPARE

Pause a reading to lock a reference. Adjust frame rate and shutter speed while the measurement stays frozen — ideal for comparing multiple fixtures or matching practical lamps.

CALIBRATION

Point at a known 5600K reference and take a five-second calibrated reading. The app stores a custom offset for your device and shooting conditions, improving consistency across a whole production.

Built by a working DP — because practical fixtures don't ask permission, and bad light costs money in post.

No account. No data collected. Everything runs on your device.

Available as an annual subscription. Pricing and terms are shown at first launch.

### 1/5 — Can’t purchase lifetime license

*2026-07-08*

Seems very promising! I heard about this on the developer’s YT channel in a video he did about a unique travel setup for the Komodo-X. However, whenever I click the lifetime access button, I’m met with a “Purchase Error” dialogue window. Hope this gets sorted out so I can test it out properly—would be useful for the environments where I primarily shoot.

**Developer response:** Fixed!

Apologies, it turns out navigating the app review process and working out "non-consumable in-app purchases" is a different skill set to actual app development. Whodathunk it.

### 1/5 — Lifetime option does not work

*2026-07-03*

The lifetime subscription option says it can’t contact the App Store, even though clicking the subscription option pops up the payment screen as expected.

Since there is no way to access the app without paying and since I don’t need another subscription, this renders the app fully useless for me.
