### 2/5 — Why Require Phone Number?

*2020-12-01, version 1.0.7*

If the app is supposed to be completely anonymous why do you require the phone number and to verify it? Doesn’t sound anonymous to me.

### 4/5 — Could be better

*2020-10-03*

I get the privacy concerns, but let’s be real. If I am in my car and in Bluetooth range of another driver and we exchange tokens, there is no path for transmission. Yet I could get an alert. Location services needs to be incorporated, so if I see the alert was from an exchange on the palmetto expressway I can ignore it. Second, this needs to work in the background. Maybe there is a technical reason it can’t, but the easier it is to just run it without thinking the better. If it gets disabled and I forget to turn it on, might as well not have it! Same if I’m somewhere using other apps. Might as well not have it. But this is a much needed tool that everyone can use for their safety. Worried about “them” tracking you? Better cancel sunpass! Delete your Facebook! Flush your smart phone down the toilet! And get over yourself, you are NOT important enough to be tracked! Nobody cares about your boring activities! Or mine.

### 2/5 — Self reporting

*2020-10-02, version 1.0.5*

Relies on self reporting, how reliable is that? Do positives want to broadcast their status? They should but do they?

### 5/5 — We can beat this virus using noninvasive tech. Easy to use

*2020-09-19*

I saw on the news about this app and found it. Easy to download. Mayor talked about the privacy, hope that is true!!!!! I can’t see that its not true because I don’t see it using my GPS for anything. Lets use this to help kill this crazy virus.

### 5/5 — If every state had this we’d be better off

*2020-09-19*

Great that I found this and it was easy to download. I travel around the area – will it work anywhere I go because its from Miami? Everyone in the state should have and be using this and I know it won’t work as well if people don’t download it.

### 5/5 — Works fine and no it doesn’t track your info

*2020-09-19*

I did some research and can see how this app was designed. It’s the best and only option to use in Florida because of the limitations in the state with information. And I like that it doesn’t track me.

### 5/5 — Neat and simple! We need this kind of app

*2020-09-19, version 1.0.4*

Really neat. I appreciate that I live in a county that is offering this. Very glad it also shows the places that you can tested. Easy to find all in one place. Nice!

### 5/5 — Easy to use, worth our safety

*2020-09-19*

The app is actually a lot easier to use than I thought it would be. Download was simple and the verification process was smooth. I appreciated understanding that entering my phone number was just to register the phone for communication and NOT used to identify me in any way.
I’ve been out several times today and its run without a problem.I did have a phone call that interrupted it once, and yes I did have to turn it back on. But it seems to me this is a small price to pay for the protection it provides us.

### 5/5 — Don’t be selfish

*2020-09-19*

My husband has had the app on his phone for several days using it before I downloaded it. I have the same impression and opinions he has: its easy to use and is very easily installed.
I’ve read the back and forth about this app. I don’t think the negative reviewers understand the options Miami Dade County had. FL Is not VA. The State of Florida is simply not providing the same support.
What do the negative reviewers want? Do nothing? I totally get that the app can be forced off during a call or something. SOWHAT! Turn it back on! MDC is in the middle of a pandemic and struggling to do the best it can. This app works well, and is easy to use given what MDC had to work with.
Far, far too many people are failing to realize the gravity of our situation and the need to do whatever we can – no matter how imperfect – to keep from getting sick. I’m 52 and a of this talk childish and selfish.

### 5/5 — Powerful and effective app!

*2020-09-19, version 1.0.4*

WOW. Now this is what we need! Contact tracing with knocks on the door just aren't working all the time. This is anonymous and lets you know if you have been exposed. GREAT JOB MDC!

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2020-09-18*

The app is actually a lot easier to use than I thought it would be. I’ve been out several times today and it runs without a problem. I don’t understand what the negative reviews are about. For me it works perfectly when I am out in public.

### 5/5 — Beware of the COVID deniers!

*2020-09-18, version 1.0.4*

Beware of the COVID-19 deniers! The app works well for me and I’ve seen no problems. I think these people are against everything from masks to social distancing.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2021-01-19, version 1.1.0*

“An error occurred while uploading data”.
This is a message I constantly get. App does not work, but good concept

### 1/5 — No option to run in background

*2020-11-03, version 1.0.6*

Since I’ve updated to ios 14.1, there is no option to run in the background. I do not have the Tap for battery saver bar displayed.

### 1/5 — This app is a joke

*2020-10-25, version 1.0.5*

Why would they pay millions for an app that you have to have open at all times? Apple an Android have offered this and it runs in background at all times and never stops. They don’t even have to make an app for it, they just need to get Florida health department to request that it be activated and setup a verification system for people who want to report that they are positive.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2020-10-13, version 1.0.5*

Why only this Miami COVid app requires the user to keep the app on? All other apps work in background

Who wrote the app? Goofy ? 😂

### 1/5 — Useless App

*2020-10-09, version 1.0.5*

This app is absolutely useless unless it uses the Apple Google API. It will not run in the background and you have to activate it. The point of the Apple Google API is to make it a seamless experience in your phone. This was not well thought out and completely useless.

### 1/5 — Good intentions but not practical

*2020-10-03*

I’ve tried to use this app and have told friends and family about it. Truth is you’ll forget to open it when you’re out and about. Because it doesn’t use apple covid api you need to have the app open all the time for it to register people you’ve been with (they need to have it open too). I don’t get why they didn’t use apples api so that it can do what it needs to do in the background. I also don’t feel the county is doing enough to raise awareness of the app. It should be required to be posted with every “no mask no entry sign”. That say each business becomes a mini billboard for the app.

### 1/5 — Good intentions but bad implementation

*2020-09-27, version 1.0.5*

The fact that the app needs to run in the foreground make this app already a failure to combat exposure to COVID 19. Nobody is going to be walking around with the app open in their phone.

### 1/5 — A bad implementation of a necessary app

*2020-09-18*

I understand the complications that exist with using the Apple & Google API but taking the route of “let’s just build it ourselves” is absolutely not the right one. APIs exist to allow developers to make app functionalities as seamless as possible for the user. By not using the API (that almost every other app in the country uses) this app requires users to be aware that they have to constantly open the app for it to work.
Massive drain of battery. Even if they claim privacy is taken seriously, they don’t use the open source APIs provided by Apple and Google which the whole tech world approves. And worst of all they claim they can’t because of issues in our health care system. Don’t put bandaids on problems, FIX THEM. Use drivers license ID, Voter Registration, or for Gods sake just make a Health system ID so that this works.

### 1/5 — Useless and stupid

*2020-09-18, version 1.0.4*

Useless app that doesn’t run in the background.
Stupid, arrogant response from the developer to valid criticism, laughably typical of stupid, arrogant Miami. The dumbest place on Earth.

### 1/5 — Not based on Apple/Google API

*2020-09-18*

Seems like a waste to me if it is not based on Apple/Google API and ENS. Even though Apple reviews it doesn’t mean it is based on their API.

Not any “obstacles” given the new version built into the iOS. To date 20 countries and many countries/regions have already adopted their API such as Australia, Austria, Canada and states such as Virginia, Alabama, Arizona, etc...

Fact is the state and the county could have turned on the Apple/Google ENS.

Trust is a big issue and why would you trust this when you can trust the privacy of Apple.

Agree with other user there should be a real-time counter of how many people are using it. Truth is no one probably will. Without scale it is completely useless.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Needs better marketing

*2020-12-21*

Just downloaded after hearing about it on NPR radio. I was hoping the State of Florida would make use of Apple’s COVID product, but they have not. Hope this app will be downloaded by more people in Miami-Dade. It should be mentioned at event local news broadcast.

### 5/5 — Works as described, easy to setup

*2020-09-25*

I usually read reviews but don’t mist post them myself but I had to with this one. The negative people and comments seem to me to be from people who have an agenda or are what my brother calls technology perfectionists, he is a computer guy. That isn’t the real world. I wish my phone didn’t have to be recharged so often – but it doesn’t keep me from using it. This app requires you to go through some steps and rules to use it BUT IT IS DEFINITELY worth it in my opinion. I am no digital genius (I’ve been in a successful auto repair business for18 years) but I know when something works. This app by our county works. One more thing, I hate it when people make reviews and then speak bad about Miami-Dade. I have lived here my whole life and love it.

### 5/5 — Doesn’t ask for your personal info

*2020-09-25*

It really is anonymous!!!!!!!! I kept waiting for the moment when I was asked my name or email or something but nope it never happened. When I was downloading it I got distracted and started over again but it worked out really good and got set-up perfect.

I only go to church, work and a couple of places shopping, but will definitely follow the instructions and leave it on as they say. I have read some of the negative comments and I don’t agree at all. The app is type of thing that makes me feel good like with wearing my mask and also being careful around people. Thank you for it.

### 5/5 — Good so far and I bet it’ll get better

*2020-09-25*

CombatCOVID for Miami-Dade is better than I had thought it would be. I am 52 years old and not a technical incline person and was worried it would be too much for me. It was easy and the county seemed to have made it in a way for anyone to use even if they aren’t good at this.

My only advice would be to ask if it is possible for the app to give us pop-up news about COVID-19. Maybe they can’t do that and if it won’t work that’s OK because the app is good.

### 5/5 — We like it, a good idea to use

*2020-09-25*

My grandson will go back to school next month and my whole family has decided to download and use the app. Last night my husband and I and my daughter, and her husband all downloaded the CombatCOVID Miami-Dade app. It’s more important than ever for everyone to do everything they can to keep from getting infected.

When we downloaded the app we went through all the steps and it all seemed to work perfectly. We were looking for questions about us like our names and email or something but were really pleased it does seem to be really anonymous. That is good. I went to work this morning and so far its no issues. My husband says the same.

So far we like it and are glad the county made it.

### 5/5 — A good tool to beat COVID

*2020-09-22, version 1.0.5*

Downloaded and using it. Great to have for everyone. I really like that it doesn’t track or follow me around.

### 5/5 — Get with it people!

*2020-09-22*

App works great. There was no problems with the download on wifi. I hope everyone gets this app on their phones and use it all the time. Great way to get the crap out of this disease. Lets go people…..

### 5/5 — Works with a fast setup

*2020-09-22, version 1.0.5*

Fast and not hard to install and setup on my phone. App appears to work as they said it would.

### 5/5 — Easy, plenty of info

*2020-09-22*

Really easy to use and I like that it makes it much easier to do contract tracing for all of us. If I need any covid info I can just look it up on the app. The latest information looks like it is right there on the app.

### 5/5 — Super useful. Easy to use.

*2020-09-21*

They keep your info private. And won’t share your location. Both of which are important to me. Great job!
