### 2/5 — Title

*2026-05-23, version 3.2.1*

Having to uninstall and reinstall the app every single cook is very frustrating, especially at the price point….but the thermometer works after you do so

### 3/5 — Did my probe break?

*2026-05-05, version 3.2.1*

The ambient temperature reads ‘no data’ after I used it on the grill. I thought the probe could withstand temperatures up to 900 degrees. The website shows it being used on the grill in a steak. Did my probe break down?

### 5/5 — This is fantastic!

*2026-02-01*

Wish we bought this years ago!

### 4/5 — Home Screen Temperatures

*2026-01-27, version 3.2.0*

On an average sized iPhone, on the Home Screen, probe temps are cut off so you don’t see the last digit. In the app you can tap each probe temp to disable them. Why not then only show the enabled temps so you can see the whole temps on the Home Screen?

### 5/5 — Works great

*2026-01-19, version 3.2.0*

Yellow turns brown after first use. Hard to clean.

Should be black. Chris must use new probe each video.

### 5/5 — Essential

*2026-01-07, version 3.2.0*

Like wow. Kenji recommended it. I bought it. I use it. It delivers every time.

### 5/5 — A breakthrough!!

*2025-12-29*

Very satisfied with this. A small issue is the app can’t always find the device on the first attempt which just means I lose 10 seconds. Once it is connected it remains connected.

Very accurate and easy to use

It takes all the guesswork out of cooking

### 5/5 — Works Incredibly Well with Multiple Devices!

*2025-12-26*

Recently got the Grill Gauge and Display to go with the thermometers and the items work so well together. It’s ao cool how you can merge graphs with the Grill Gauge. Can’t wait for the blower!

### 5/5 — A game changer!

*2025-12-24, version 3.2.0*

I’ve been cooking for many years and this predictive thermometer makes life soooooo much easier. Wouldn’t want to be without it!

### 5/5 — Even better with HAOS

*2025-12-05, version 3.2.0*

Implemented HAOS integration to catalog data on my cooks, big fan. Works like a dream.

### 5/5 — Great product best on the maket

*2025-11-30, version 3.2.0*

The updated up is way ahead of the completion and keeps getting better

### 2/5 — Two thermometers,…. Can be bad.

*2025-11-28*

So I set up one thermometer for the turkey, another for the roast. I know I got the temperatures in thermometers correct, because I didn’t put the roast one in till 15 minutes later.

I set up the turkey first and put it in for the 150 and left it. I was gonna have great turkey this year!

Both thermometers disconnected. Despite the controller being 1 foot away.

Then, when I reconnected, they switched. So my barbecue, which I wanted to pull at 165 to wrap was happy at 150. My turkey which I wanted to nowhere close to that was 170 in parts.

So much for true core, and working well.

For the price, I did not expect disconnect from the temperature probe to the broadcaster when they are 2 feet away from each other.

Swapping temps is clearly a bug!!!!

### 2/5 — Range issue

*2025-11-24, version 3.1.0*

Even with all of the extenders and everything if I’m more than 5 feet away from the thermometer, I don’t get any data on my phone

So if I want to stand next to the meet for 5-6 hours, it’s a great product

If I wanna live my life while smoking a brisket, then it’s absolutely useless

### 5/5 — Frequent user

*2025-11-12, version 3.1.0*

One of the best kitchen tools ever - no more overcooked dry food and better knowledge when things will be done!!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-07-04, version 3.2.1*

Can’t get devices connected. Instructions aren’t correct and app is worthless.

### 1/5 — Poor

*2026-06-30, version 3.2.1*

The website is awful. My new thermometer arrived missing the charger. The email to “help” is not active. The instructions are poorly written. The app is frozen.
Need I say more?
Waste of time and money

### 1/5 — Thermometer doesn’t connect

*2026-03-29, version 3.2.1*

The thermometer often does not connect to the WiFi extender nor the app. Defective product

### 1/5 — Worst experience ever x 2

*2026-01-19*

How can this product get a good review? Out of the ~50 times I’ve tried to use the device, and Combustion replacing it once, I’ve had about 5 seamless experiences. Doesn’t pair, is unpaired the next time, looses connection in the oven, the started working again, then failed, now it’s just a $175 and dozens of hours of wasted time ($1000’s of my life). I bought a chef IQ and it’s working like a charm. Never again.

### 1/5 — High hopes, cannot use

*2025-10-10, version 3.0.0*

Unable to link the probe to the display. Unable to link the probe to the app. Have followed all instructions and troubleshooting I can find online. I am extremely experienced in connected device development (I spent several years working on connected kitchen appliance software and firmware). Want to love it, cannot use it.

### 1/5 — march 26 it didn’t work March 28. It does. Sep 18 doesn’t work.

*2025-09-19*

The concept of this device is incredible. I have the. After having at work quite well for a few months, even though notifications don’t tell you when the food is done. Now it won’t work the battery won’t charge, it won’t let me predict my food temperature. It’s broken like it was when I first got it. Such a pain in the …
Thermometer and Wi-Fi booster set. It has not worked. It has been a disaster. The thermometer wouldn’t alert me when food was done. And doesn’t work 30 feet. And the Wi-Fi booster in configurable. Today the booster joined the network 2.5 G that is. And the probe and the alarms and the alerts all worked. Kudos Combustion. I hope it just gets better from here.

### 1/5 — inaccurate

*2025-07-17, version 2.3.1*

the ambient temp doesn’t match the oven temp, the app is unable to stop the timer from beeping (the button doesn’t work), and i’ve noticed the app often displays a different predicted time left than the actual timer displays.

### 1/5 — Great product, disappointing app experience.

*2025-06-21, version 2.1.1*

The thermometer itself is everything I did not know I needed on a thermometer. The app not allowing me to log in because it says the verification email has expired or already has been used is disheartening. Hopefully this can be fixed because the thermometer is essentially useless for me.

### 1/5 — Buyer beware

*2025-05-02, version 2.1.1*

I have two thermometers - one gen 1 and a gen 2 WiFi- with a display. They are possibly the most frustrating products I’ve ever used - they both seem completely non responsive at this point. The Gen 2 has never connected to WiFi or worked reliably despite multiple firmware updates. The Gen 1 at least worked for several cooks, but they both appear bricked. The battery on both wouldn’t hold a charge more than a day- which seems like incredibly bad customer experience based on firmware glitches.

I’m not happy writing this, because when it worked the predictive feature was really useful, and I’m a sucker for good product design- and I’ve even pre ordered the new grill thermometer.

The reality is that if you read the sub-Reddit, there are many issues with firmware updating- to the point where I believe the company was basically re-factoring the code- which is never a great sign.

### 1/5 — Latest update broke the thermometer

*2025-03-03*

I had been happily using the Combination thermometer for about a year. It worked exactly as expected every time. I loved it.

Then Combustion (the company) pushed an update that broke the thermometer. After the update, the thermometer refuses to disconnect from your phone app even when it’s plugged back into its dock, silently draining the battery and making it useless the next time you want to, you know, bake something.

I am literally begging Combustion to unf*** their thermometer or give us all a refund. You have made your product unusable for no good reason!

**Developer response:** We’re very sorry about the inconvenience. We’ve fixed this behavior in the latest update. We also added an option to have the thermometer stay on no matter what, in case you’re doing sous vide cooking which triggers a false positive charger detection.

If this still isn’t working after the update, you may have had a hardware failure. If so, please reach out to customer support and we’ll replace the unit.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Better than all the rest

*2026-08-20*

I have used a bunch of different tools to help me cook meats to the perfect done-ness, and the Perdictive Thermometer is the best out there.
I do find myself taking my meats off the grill before the alarm goes off… I found the in letting the meat rest the temperature will continue climbing. Overall this is an awesome product.

### 5/5 — The BEST you can buy

*2026-07-09*

Combustion Inc makes the literal best products. High quality, reliable, straight forward, and every detail was thought through carefully. I find the meters are always connected when they should be, the temperature readings are always accurate, and the app works flawlessly. I couldn’t be happier. I’ve used all kinds of products in this space and they all have their faults. I can’t find a single fault for Combustion Inc.

### 5/5 — Awesome product

*2026-07-01, version 3.2.1*

Really love the thermometer, and Chris' YouTube science to go with it. Would be cool if the app had some extra features like saving graphs for historical comparison, an API to consume data for whatever you wanna do with it, maybe social features to share with other cooks what you're cooking with it.

### 5/5 — 5 star

*2026-06-21, version 3.2.1*

Probe is thin and easy to insert. Whole ecosystem just works. It’s next level. Recommended.

### 5/5 — Like it so well, I bought one for my son

*2026-05-22, version 3.2.1*

Love the gauge. I’m having trouble getting the temp probe to work. Once I figure this out it will be perfect!

### 5/5 — Great Thermometer

*2026-05-18, version 3.2.1*

I really like my combustion inc thermometer. It’s improved my ability to cook meat tremendously. I’d really like to save my favorite presets for different target temps though. Please add.

### 5/5 — Data Informed Cooking

*2026-05-02*

Love this system and use it for everything. Seeing multiple temp data points in real-time visualize the heat and evaporative cooling process…mind blown. Seeing the resting process after cooking and the temp increase before peak internal temp occurs, super cool. Csv export is a very nice touch and testament to science. Well done.

### 5/5 — Awesome Product

*2026-03-10*

Hardware delays aside and a few growing pains with the original items, this app paired with the equipment is the most robust and enjoyable to use that I’ve ever used. Once fully matured, this combination will be the industry standard of what to beat!

### 5/5 — Great kitchen tool

*2026-03-01, version 3.2.1*

System is incredibly accurate. Allows you to plan side dishes using the projected completion time for your roast.

### 5/5 — GGG and the app

*2026-02-04, version 3.2.0*

Works amazing
