### 1/5 — Really not good. Zero security.

*2018-08-21, version 3.2.3*

Summer 2018:

Note the version history of this app: 12 releases from 2014-17, then nothing in the past 17 months. This app appears to be unsupported and should be removed from the store until this company gets their act together.

Spring 2017:

The issues I wrote about in my original review below are still present in the current version. In addition, the app pushes notifications whenever it loses a connection to the doorbell, and then again when it reconnects. If there really is a connectivity issue, a notification would be great. But as designed, the app notifies you even if you drive through a dead zone for ten seconds. I often pick up my phone and find the lock screen displaying a huge list of "I got disconnected---oh wait, I'm back!" notifications from this app. It's very annoying.

---

Two big problems with this app:

- there is absolutely zero authentication. When you configure the app for your intercom system, you give it various details like the local IP, port number, and subdomain. All of these settings are displayed in clear text. Anyone who can see or guess these details can install the app on their on phone, ring my doorbell, and let themselves in. Are you serious?!

- The UI is horrendous. The app has to be running in the background in order to notify you of doorbell rings. Every time this happens, I stare at the app, trying to remind myself which buttons open the door, which buttons let me speak to the person at the door, and so on. It is not at all intuitive. I have accidentally hung up on people more than once.

### 1/5 — Expensive unit - do not buy

*2018-07-15, version 3.2.3*

App does NOT run in background mode. This means app MUST BE open all the time to receive alerts.

Also when CALL is activated initially it holds onto the line. If you miss call you have to wait MINIMUM 30 seconds before you can then call the gate unit to talk to person.

No response from app developers to various reported bugs

### 1/5 — Avoid! Do not install

*2018-06-08, version 3.2.3*

This system came with our new house so we didn’t have an option to choose. It regularly fails to connect when trying to answer any calls. This results in a scrabble to find the nearest key fob and ultimately ends up missing the person at the gate. If it does connect up it is very rare that the person can hear/communicate. Oh and the video part often freezes. I can only assume that the developers chose this option due to price.

EDIT: if I could give this zero stars I would!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2018-05-12, version 3.2.3*

This app won’t load for me. It just stays on the loading logo screen forever. Can’t use it

### 1/5 — Not as described

*2018-02-22, version 3.2.3*

I was sold this intercom system by a security firm that is usually reliable and deliver what they promise.
It s hit and miss at best. As described I should be able to answer the intercom from anywhere as long as the app is open even if in the background. The app doesn’t stay connected to the intercom in the background. When it is on I can t communicate with the person on the intercom. They can t hear me. I have it also installed on IPad s and IPads mini. It s even worse as the camera shows black when someone rings but works when I “call” the intercom independently. It s an expensive system that doesn’t deliver

### 1/5 — Never seems to work

*2018-01-09, version 3.2.3*

We have had nothing but problems with the app when not at home. First off, the app must be open in order to receive a call. Second, even when I do have the app open it doesn’t ring and all I see is a missed buzz message. This product seems to just not work as advertised. In addition, it’s impossible to find a link on their website to talk to anyone about it.

### 1/5 — Totally outdated app

*2017-12-02, version 3.2.3*

This app is not up to date.
I constantly miss when someone is at our door, because I did not have the app open recently.
The design is terrible.

### 1/5 — iOS update for 11

*2017-10-14, version 3.2.3*

This app is not functioning properly on iOS 11 is an update coming soon. It’s not useful to have a door entry system that is not working

### 1/5 — Worst App Ever

*2017-07-14, version 3.2.3*

I find it pretty funny that the tag line claims "Design". This is literally the worst user interface I have seen - coupled with that fact it is intended to provide security and access to our building is concerning - but I can't really comment there because the application is unresponsive when trying to connect
FIX THIS APP

### 1/5 — Working now on iOS 10.3

*2017-03-29, version 3.2.3*

The apps just been updated but still fails to open on both my iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 plus.
Each time a new iPhone is released the app seems to stop functioning.
**update**
The app will now open following the upgrade to iOS 10.3

### 1/5 — Comelit

*2016-12-08, version 3.1.1*

Very poor app they must be contracting app development as I can't see why they are so slow on updating when all my other suppliers have already updated their apps.
Ringtones need to be updated as they are what you would expect from a cheap system.
Directory icons should be abled to be changed, it needs a lot of work.

### 1/5 — Sort this out Comelit, not working on IOS 10

*2016-10-21, version 3.1.1*

COMELIT - sort this out as soon as you can, I have paid a bucket load for my home intercom and I can't use it because you can't pull your fingers out and get it fixed for IOS 10.

People will stop buying your products if you can't keep up!

### 1/5 — Out of Date

*2016-10-11, version 3.1.1*

Does not work on iOS 10.

User interface is unclear and convoluted.

### 1/5 — Not working on iOS 10

*2016-09-17, version 3.1.1*

Please FIX the app for iPhone 6S it just stays on the startup screen forever

### 1/5 — Not usable on iOS 10 and iPhone 7

*2016-09-16, version 3.1.1*

The app stuck on the splash screen just like it was last year when iOS was updated, please urgently fix this as I can't use this app.

### 1/5 — Not working since latest iOS release

*2015-12-07, version 3.0.3*

Since the last upgrade of iOS this app doesn't work. It just hangs on startup.

It's now been several months since the iOS release and still Comelit haven't fixed the issue.

Would recommend that anyone looking for a home intercom system find a more progressive vendor than Comelit.

### 1/5 — Not working with iPhone 6S plus

*2015-10-17, version 3.0.3*

Stuck on the green screen

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — It doesn’t work with the new update

*2023-11-27, version 3.2.3*

Needs an update

### 1/5 — Don’t buy Comelit

*2021-07-14, version 3.2.3*

Amazingly bad.

### 1/5 — AWFUL

*2020-11-05, version 3.2.3*

Customer support and reliability are non existent. Find another service

### 1/5 — Slave???

*2020-07-06, version 3.2.3*

There’s a modal where the UI displays a list of the word “Slave” and appends a number to it. Not very user friendly. Have no idea how to navigate or add an intercom cause. Would advise their ux-writer to come up with a better term than Slave. :/ Would attach the screenshot if I could.

### 1/5 — Terrible- Comelit please reply

*2020-05-26, version 3.2.3*

The concept of someone buzzed and it pops up as a notification on your iPhone is really not rocket science anymore. However, for some reason this app can’t send push notifications. It has to be running in order for it to work. The reviews here have been asking for a solution to this for years and still nothing. Our building is about to scrap this comelit system and spend thousands of $$ to go to either ButterflyMx or Latch purely because of this. Can someone from Comelit reply and tell us why you can’t simply update the app so it’s in line with 2017 technology and when we can expect an upgrade/fix?

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2020-03-26, version 3.2.3*

I bought very expensive calling panel made by comelit because supposed, that this is very reliable solution, then I spent a lot of money on technical specialist because it’s impossible to understand user manual and it’s very difficult to setup by self. Then I installed application to my iphone and prepared to enjoy of using... but application doesn’t work!!! App eats phone battery like a vacuum cleaner!

Garbage. Don’t buy comelit products!

Waste of money. Better to buy Chinese smart door bell - it work much better...

### 1/5 — Worst system ever

*2019-12-23, version 3.2.3*

Funny how they sell this system for thousands and it never ever works. How is it they are not sued for selling us junk?

### 1/5 — THIS APP IS crusty, dusty, and musty. but overall outdated.

*2019-07-17, version 3.2.3*

THE APP KEEPS KICKING ME OUT AND ITS FRUSTRATING. IVE BEEN TRYING TO USE IT FOR A YEAR NOW AND IT STILL WONT LET ME CONNECT. I AM SO TIRED OF TRYING AND HOPING THAT THIS APP MIGHT WORK JUST TO BE LET DOWN EVERY TIME. I HAVE TRIED COUNTLESS TIMES TO REACH THEM AND I DON’T WANT TO KEEP GOING DOWN STAIRS TO GET MY PIZZA. DO YOU HEAR ME? I HAVE TO WALK 3 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS IN MY PAJAMAS TO GET MY PIZZA. DISGUSTING.

### 1/5 — 4 months and still not working

*2018-09-29, version 3.2.3*

Previously I had iOS 11 and now I have updated it to iOS 12 hoping that this would fix the problem but 5 Months later still nothing when somebody rings at the door it doesn’t go directly to my phone so what are you guys waiting to fix the damn problem. This product is not cheap I expect better service so chopped chopped and get to it NOW

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work on IOs 11

*2018-09-04*

Installed the app, but I cannot even enter IP address for my building because the app keeps crashing. And when I did finish entering the address the button connect did not work. Pointless

## Most praised reviews (3 highest-rated)

### 4/5 — Z

*2017-08-27, version 3.2.3*

I favvggwwowvwvvg vfwxfvcf

### 3/5 — Clunky and outdated but bizarrely now works

*2021-10-02, version 3.2.3*

I just upgraded my iPhone 12 Pro to iOS 15 and for whatever reason, this app now works as it is basically intended for the first time in the three years I have had it. Sure, the app still has various odd/un-user-friendly features that you don’t need, but the core function of a prompt notification when someone presses the doorbell now actually works, every time.

### 2/5 — Potential is there but...

*2014-11-24, version 1.0.4*

We use this app for 14 apartments with two cameras and an elevator call up.

The app works but really feels like it's been written by engineers for installers and lacking a lot in terms of user ergonomics. It's a shame for it feels like a beta at present before a decent developer puts a front end on it for Comelit.

Having said that because it works I would give it 4 stars based on potential and only 2-3 based on its current, obviously early, stage of development. Here's what 14 people have found:

- general appearance is amateurish with too easy access to set up menus, which should be buried down a level so not accessed too fast by mistake in general use

- video doesn't fill an iPhone screen in landscape or portrait mode.

- the need to "X" back to the home tab is often difficult to do when a visitor rings. A modern well-written app would allow you to swipe between cameras and "actuators" (in our case the elevator) rather than going out of a page on say the door camera to the lobby camera. It's counterintuitive vs how apps work and shows that the developer needs understand these ergonomic needs of iOS users

- lack of auto switching. This may be something that cannot be done by the app but seems a simple coding issue- when you (in our case) buzz the door the app should be able to automatically change view to the lobby camera without having to switch manually.

- ringtones are cringeworthy , unimportant to Comelit maybe but users will be embarrassed by them as they are!

This may sound negative and it shouldn't for the basics are there and this has potential to be an outstandingly good app.
