I've started using an app called CommitU for Easton's baseball recruiting, and I have to say, it's been an incredible tool.

If you're like me, the recruiting process can feel overwhelming. There are more than 1,500 college baseball programs across the country, and one of the biggest challenges is simply getting your son's information in front of the right coaches. CommitU has made that process so much easier and has helped us stay organized every step of the way.

If you're in the same boat—and I know a lot of baseball families are—I highly recommend checking it out.

I'm by no means a recruiting expert. I'm just a dad trying to do everything I can to help my son pursue his dream. If I can save another family some time, stress, or frustration by sharing what's worked for us so far, I'm more than happy to answer any questions or share our experience.

There is a lot of recruiting information out there on social media and websites. If you are a parent like me of a high school baseball player who is wanting to play in college you get plenty of emails from gurus that will tell you they will reach out and communicate with coaches and send emails for you. Relationships are important, but my understanding is that college coaches value relationships with high school and showcase coaches more. Instead of re-creating the wheel of tracking sent emails and contacts with a spreadsheet and creating a database of coaches emails, Commit U is a huge time saver and manager of information that will assist you in your recruiting process. I have found this program to be very useful in a very short period of time.

What's New...

The schedule page, rebuilt around how it is actually used. It opens on your list now instead of a month grid, because the question you arrive with is
usually "what is next" rather than "what is on the 14th". The calendar is still one tap away.

Adding a date no longer demands a start time. Most of what goes on this page is a date you were told long before a time existed, so the date is all that is required now.

Camp search moved out of the filter panel and sits above it, so finding one school's camp is one action instead of three. Campus visits are their own kind of date, and like personal dates they never appear on your resume or in a coach email.

The filter itself is reorganized: your own commitments first, then the schools you are chasing, with a long list kept in a scrolling box instead of pushing everything else off the screen. A closing section lists everything currently on your calendar in one place.

Two new Playbook chapters

Chapter 5, Choosing the Right Team, is the one that was missing: the team you play for is the vehicle that carries everything else. Chapter 9 covers camps and showcases - which are worth the money, what to do while you are there, and how it differs in baseball and softball.

The whole Playbook is reordered to follow the path Chapter 1 draws, so reading it start to finish matches the order you actually do things in. Junior-high and high-school guidance now sit inside the chapters and the timeline rather than apart from them.

Your emails finish sending

A campaign that was interrupted - by closing the app, by a dropped connection, by anything - used to stop where it was and stay stopped, without telling you. Now it resumes and finishes on its own, and nothing is sent twice.

Emails also mention your GPA in the subject line when it is one of your strengths, because that is the line a coach reads first.

For club and travel organizations

Coaches can text their team a signup link straight from the app, so a group text is all it takes to get a roster on board, and team names can be corrected without deleting and rebuilding the team. Larger clubs can give a regional director the teams they actually run - they can add, rename and remove teams in their own region without waiting on whoever owns the whole club.

badge, so a glance tells you what is booked and what is not. Or subscribe to the whole

phone's calendar. The subscription link can be shared, so grandparents can follow the
season without needing an account.

Message CommitU without leaving the app

Ask a question, tell us something is not working, or ask what a coach's reply actually
meant. It reaches us right away, and you get an answer back in the app.

A field of study that means something

Filtering by major now uses the degree programs each college actually reports — sixteen
broad fields, from Engineering and Nursing to Business and Communications. A school shows
up on your list because it genuinely teaches what your player wants to study.

Coach phone numbers on the school card

The coach's phone number now sits beside their name in My List, for the point in the
process where a call is the right move.

Softball, in softball's language

Pitching and speed metrics read the way softball families and softball coaches use them —
on the profile, on the résumé, and on the Spotlight page a coach opens from an email.
Coach contact dates follow the softball calendar too.

What's New in This Update

Camps, on the calendar you already use

We spent the last stretch reading camp pages at college programs across the country, and the
results are now on your Recruiting Schedule. Nearly 500 camps at 259 of the schools players
here are targeting — dates, cost, age groups and a link straight to the school's own page.

Dates a school printed and dates we had to assume never look the same. Anything we inferred
carries a ~ and a standing reminder to confirm with the school before you book a weekend.

Stepping Stone: a fourth tier in Build My List

Reach, Target and Safety all describe where you could go now. Stepping Stone describes how you
get somewhere later. It is junior colleges only, and where a program has a documented record of
sending players on, the card says which conferences.

Two years at a junior college has become one of the main routes into the programs at the top of
your list. You play every day instead of redshirting, it costs a fraction, and four-year coaches
recruit hardest from players with college numbers.

Scholarships, explained honestly

A new Playbook chapter on what each division can actually offer — and it is not what most
families expect. Baseball splits 11.7 scholarships across a 35-man roster; softball splits 12.
A partial offer is the normal outcome, not a lesser one. It covers D2, D3, NAIA and NJCAA, the
2025 roster-limit changes, and the four questions worth asking before accepting anything.

For softball

Home to 1B replaces the 60-yard dash everywhere on the softball side. That is the number
fastpitch coaches actually ask for, and it is now what your projection is built on.

Pitchers get a proper arsenal: velocity and spin for the fastball, drop, screwball, rise ball,
curveball and changeup. No slider, because that is not a fastpitch pitch.

Your downloadable resume also stopped calling itself a baseball document, and college softball
coaches can now filter recruits by home to 1B.

Smaller things

• Build My List now sits next to your projection, where the question actually comes up.
• Actions and News carries recruiting tips and rule changes — including what five years of
  eligibility means for your class — with a Read more that takes you to the detail.

CommitU is now built for fastpitch as well as baseball — softball metrics, softball recruiting
dates, and coach contacts at college programs across every division.

A schedule that works like recruiting does

Recruiting Schedule is now its own tab. Your camps, tournaments, showcases and campus visits sit
on one calendar, so you can see what clashes before you commit a weekend.

• Upload your schedule from a photo. Point your camera at the printout your club handed you, or a
  screenshot from the team chat, and CommitU reads it into real dates. You approve every one
  before it's added — nothing goes on your calendar that you haven't checked.
• Your upcoming dates now appear on your resume. When a coach asks where they can see you play,
  the answer is already in the link you sent them.
• Attach specific dates to an email. Pick which tournaments to mention and the draft invites the
  coach to watch you there.

Camps you can actually plan around

We've found published camp pages for over a thousand college programs, with dates and costs, and
one tap adds any of them to your phone's calendar.
