## What is Communia?

Welcome to Communia — the social self-care network building a better digital world for women and non-binary-folx.

We’re tired of the internet revolving around the male gaze and often making our IRL experience worse - so we built a safe space for you to express yourself, create meaningful connections, access community support, + grow with tools designed to elevate life’s best moments and provide a roadmap during the worst.

Be your unedited self on Communia. All users are verified by human moderators, which means no trolls, no bots and no fake accounts. Share your experience, your wisdom and your opinions. Crowdsource advice from hundreds of thousands of women+ who really get it, and support others on their journeys too.

Our app features both social and self reflective tools to help create healthy connection.

Connect with your inner self:
- - DAILY JOURNAL PROMPTS: Because free journaling can be intimidating. Ideas for self discovery.
CUSTOMIZABLE, MULTIMEDIA JOURNALS: Personalise your journal aesthetic to fit your vibe & bring joy.
- SECRET & COLLABORATIVE JOURNALS: Journal privately, with friends, or publicly depending on your mood. Collaborative journaling can encourage your friend group and help hold each other accountable, while public journals invite insights & motivation from a community of people who have been there too.
- GUIDED JOURNALS: Extra support on topics like creativity, gratitude, self-compassion, anxiety, and mindful dating.
- MOOD BOARD: Our newest feature helps you understand your emotions over time, and what’s causing them. See what percent of our community is feeling the same way you are, and know you're not alone.
- GOAL TRACKING: Empowering you to build healthy habits and routines! Create your own goals or try one of our suggestions. Integrated with our built-in calendar, with streaks and progress reports to help you fully visualise your success!
- DISCOVER: Read journals by hundreds of thousands of like-minded women+ and follow/save what impacts you most.

Connect with others:
- A NEWSFEED YOU CONTROL: Only engage with the content that you want to see. Follow the topics you're comfortable with and easily switch it up depending on how you feel. Curate your space, and build an authentic digital world that works for you.
- IDENTITY PROTECTION: Our anonymous posting tool helps you open discussions you're intimidated by, and we don't have a web app specifically so your content doesn't show up on search engines.
- OPEN DISCUSSIONS: No topic is off limits. Our most popular ones include dating and relationships, mental health, #MeToo, work and more - this is your safe space for it all.
- DO SOMETHING KIND: It's easy to help others here. Trade in doom scrolling for giving another woman advice on something you've experienced too.

From our community:
“Finally, no creepy guys invading my DMs!” — Lizzie
“Whenever I'm struggling and I don't know where to go, I know I can use this app, and that's so comforting.” — Amy
“The identity verification process is worth it for such an authentic community, we're empowered to be vulnerable because of it.” — Tasha

We've made a commitment not to sell user data or allow advertisements on the app. Instead, we generate revenue through our premium wellness subscription. Don't worry, the entire social experience will always remain free. Private journaling and daily journal prompts are free too! Past journal prompts (a library of thousands), 7 guided journals, + mood and goal tracking makeup the premium subscription. These added value features help you take action on the topics you discuss with us, and the financial support allows us to continue improving your app experience and pay our small team of women fairly (no billionaires were involved in the making of this app!). We are so happy you're here and are forever appreciative of your support.

### 5/5 — Wonderful safe space!

*2026-02-10, version 4.7.1*

Fantastic app, wonderful safe space for women+ online to find safety, community, and resource.

### 1/5 — Requires Face ID

*2026-02-04, version 4.7.1*

I saw this app on Instagram and thought it would be a nice alternative. Unfortunately you need to take a selfie of yourself in order to verify your account, and only a verified account can actually interact with other users and make public posts. It doesn’t matter if they say “Don’t worry, we’ll delete your data”, the data is always there. That’s been proven with the tea app and Discord being hacked. This is why Face ID or age verification is so dangerous. Tell your governments that this is dangerous. I will not give any of that info away. The app also crashed in the first fifteen minutes of me using it. I deleted my account and the app.

### 1/5 — Interesting

*2026-01-30, version 4.7.1*

I wish this app had a feature to report a certain posts. People are defending ice on this app, defending fascism. What is this app or company doing about that? Are you OK with fascism on your page? Absolutely vile.

### 5/5 — Herland Utopia

*2026-01-28, version 4.7.1*

Really love this app so far. It’s exactly what I need in a social media capacity

### 5/5 — Women supporting women 🫶🏼

*2025-08-23, version 4.6.4*

Only a week in and I can already feel the supportive vibe of this community. It's so user-friendly and love the overall UI. Definitely loving this app!

### 1/5 — Verification Rejected

*2025-07-22, version 4.6.2*

A pic of a current drivers license is not verification enough. Though I am non-binary, clearly this app is for women only, though it is stated in reviews and overviews that enby users are welcome. Sure, right.

### 1/5 — Privacy matters!

*2025-06-24, version 4.6.2*

This is a hard pass. Take a look at all of the info they collect and attach to your identity. Do you really want all of this personal info in someone else’s hands?? I sure don’t. No rewarding developers who don’t care about my privacy!

### 5/5 — Just what I’ve been looking for

*2025-06-06, version 4.6.1*

A thoughtful, safe space for sharing and building community. Thank you

### 5/5 — Love

*2025-06-03, version 4.6.1*

Such an amazing app. I feel so supported and understood! I’ve been on it for a while now and it just feels like a safe space where I can get advice ✨

### 3/5 — Beautiful Concept in Theory

*2025-05-28, version 4.6.1*

I really love the idea of this app. No like or follower counts, no algorithm that rewards negative engagement, no interacting with robots or fake accounts. The journaling and mental health aspect is what led me here, and it delivers on the journaling feature very well. Its aesthetically pleasing, and also allows you to upload images, which I love. It’s nice that it autosaves your progress while you’re working, so a journal entry isn’t lost if you leave. Sometimes the UI doesn’t cooperate, which can make it difficult to read back what you have written in a comment or in a journal, but otherwise well designed. I feel some things could be organized more intuitively, it can feel like you have to dig a bit to get to where you want to go. I also wish that it was easier to find and join groups of people with similar interests, perhaps something like reddit (without the awful part of reddit).

The biggest turnoff for me is unfortunately the mental health aspect of the app, which was such a disappointment. Mental Health is super important to me and I was excited to see a social platform with a focus on it. Rather than functioning as a resource that provides support, insight, and tools for those who are struggling, it has attracted a user base that is utilizing it to enable their own unhealthy coping mechanisms and toxic behaviors. I see so many people who engage in habitual reassurance and validation seeking, which only offers short term relief and is ultimately unhelpful. I’ve seen a lot of users who seem to only use the app to garner sympathy and justification for their own toxicity, and they are often coddled in the name of ‘support’. Ultimately, there is a lot of self-piteous content that is met with enablement. I fear people who would largely benefit from therapy use this as their primary form of relief rather than a supplement to benefit their mental health journey, and it makes it difficult to engage with the app for its intended purpose.

Overall I really love the purpose behind this app, the drive behind the developers, and I think given some time and polishing it could really flourish.
