### 2/5 — Weather forecast keeps saying no internet connection even though I’m online and flash doesn’t work

*2025-06-02, version 3.2.8*

Weather section doesn’t work it’s thinking I’m offline but I’m online any ides please fix it and also the app crashes when I enable camera flash fix that also

### 4/5 — Also showing no internet when I do.

*2022-02-05, version 3.2.8*

On iPhone 13 pro with 1 GB fiber, no internet? Needs fixed. Tried turning off wireless, VPN and more -no go.

### 3/5 — ok; not suitable for relying on in emergencies

*2021-07-25, version 3.2.6*

With the latest more-or-less recent update today, this app is evidently still being maintained; but, not well-maintained.

The prominent weather tab feature still currently doesn’t work: it still spuriously reports, “No Internet Connection”.

A very prominent camera tab feature (repeatedly) doesn’t properly switch from “High” or “Max” settings back to “Norm”, without one closing and reopening the app.

The compass dial seems to sometimes jump around or present distracting jitter, that can make it difficult to obtain a clear reading. (However, I don’t know whether more smoothing of the dial motion would be helpful or ultimately beneficial in actually obtaining accurate and precise readings.)

[For example (oldest devices): iPhone 5s, latest version of iOS 12.]

Today, on the latest app version released today, on another, auxiliary App Store account, the in-app purchase to remove ads on an iPad mini 2 (iOS 12) required two purchase attempts (with the password confirmed entered correctly both times), and then also a restore of the successful purchase, before the app actually registered that the purchase had been made. (Similar unbelievably ridiculous behavior was previously reported in the field on other accounts, but not confirmed by me until now.)

Also, it would sometimes be very, very helpful if this app could rotate to display in landscape mode on iPads, and on iPhone + and iPhone Max models, but annoyingly, it still does not.

I originally bought copies of this “Pro” version of this app for the personal App Store accounts of each and every member of our team, so we would all have a consistent compass app for use on our iPhones, iPads, iPad Pros, and iPad minis, particularly for use in emergencies; and so we wouldn’t have to deal with in-app purchases, and restoring in-app purchases after changing to new devices.

That turns out to have been a poor decision on my part.

This “Pro” app version was later changed, such that it now requires an in-app purchase, otherwise its practical use is crippled by overwhelming ads.

That became an unacceptably severe hinderance and distraction during an emergency, because either the added in-app purchase had not yet been made on individual accounts (or had been expired/replaced by the developer?), or had not yet been restored since the last device swaps and/or device backup restores, etc.

In an emergency, a compass is something that simply ought to just work. (At least as a compass!)

Not require fiddling with making, updating, or restoring in-app purchases, or switching to a different app, or digging out and switching to a different device or backup compass, etc.

If an app developer wants to have an in-app purchase tip-jar to accept casual and grateful donations; and/or, to add supplementary or complementary features (like in-app weather and photos, or custom app icons, for example) behind an in-app purchase pay wall requiring additional payment, fine.

But, not being able to simply and immediately use your previously bought and paid-for compass when you most need it in an emergency, is entirely unacceptable.

I ought not have to remember and remind my team to regularly and proactively check that our compass app is working before it might be needed. Our checklists are long enough already.

Purely out of resulting annoyance, I’ve been holding off purchasing this app for a new team member’s new iPad Pro, iPad mini 5, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. The iPhone has Apple’s compass app; the iPads have various mapping software installed with built-in compasses; and we also all have primary and backup magnetic compasses—all of which are far more reliable than this app has proven to be when we’ve needed it.

Our team is presently seeking another, more appropriate compass app to standardize on for our purposes.

### 4/5 — Weather section stopped working!

*2021-07-03, version 3.2.5*

All and all a very good app. However for some reason the weather section of the app suddenly decided to stop working. It keeps saying i have no internet connection. Which i do. So what’s up? Also absolutely no help or support to even report a problem.

### 4/5 — true north and magnetic north are still switched

*2021-06-04, version 3.2.3*

where I am on the East coast Magnetic north should be 11 degrees left of true north. In LA magnetic north is to the right of true north. Magnetic north is over Canada.

### 2/5 — Ruined by most intrusive forced ads

*2020-11-15, version 3.2.2*

A nice compass BUT holy over the top intrusive ads. Forced ads like you’ve never seen before on any other app. Basically it’s unusable in the free version. If you don’t intend on forking over $3 to upgrade don’t even bother trying it.

### 5/5 — Good

*2019-09-30, version 3.1*

Good, the apartment's showing you the right thing. With a map is convenient.

### 5/5 — Cool

*2019-09-30, version 3.1*

The compass shows the direction very precisely. I recommend downloading, sometimes useful.

### 4/5 — 💪💪💪

*2019-09-30, version 3.1*

The application is not bad, the compass hand is not always visible, so 4.I think is good apps.

### 5/5 — Ok

*2019-09-30, version 3.1*

Tried up to ten different compasses, this one showed the true north.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — The ads are insanely annoying

*2026-04-18, version 3.2.8*

You get a few seconds of compass then the ads start up.

### 1/5 — No Longer Useable

*2024-09-17, version 3.2.8*

As I see others have commented re the same issue, I’ll be brief.
I purchased this when I had a 6S. When I attempt to access it with my 13, a Homes.com add locks the display.
So somebody is still paying the developer for a now defective product. Homes.com should wise up…

### 1/5 — Ads make this useless!

*2024-02-09, version 3.2.8*

I purchased this as the compass with the best functionality for my needs. It is now useless because of the ads that capture my phone instead of the compass function I need and paid for. Why on earth do you think anyone searching for North in the wilderness has any interest in buying a video game at that particular moment?!?!?! Very disappointed, you have ruined a very good App.

### 1/5 — Utter rubbish. Getting my money back.

*2023-12-11, version 3.2.8*

Waste of money. Don’t buy!

### 1/5 — Paid once and now being told to pay again.

*2023-02-05, version 3.2.8*

I bought the pro edition a few years back and now am being prompted to pay to remove ads. Next it will be a monthly charge. No thanks.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2020-12-15, version 3.2.2*

Still waiting on a reply 🤨
==================
I have an iPhone 12 & iPad 6, just downloaded “Compass 54 Pro” and they both crash I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled but still crashes also indicates No Internet Connection await your reply- ✔️

I have just noticed, if I turn my wifi off the compass works without crashing ????
Await your reply 😳

### 1/5 — Inconsistent results with iPad

*2020-08-28, version 3.2.2*

I downloaded this app to both my iPad and iPhone. Lined up side by side the readings disagree by more than 80-degrees. Not sure what the problem is, but seems most inaccurate on the iPad when comparing to other compass apps.

### 1/5 — Magnetic north doesn’t work.

*2020-07-10, version 3.2*

The magnetic north still doesn’t work..!
Apparently nobody reads these reviews..!
This is the worse app for getting any help.

### 1/5 — The spamming of ads

*2020-04-05, version 3.1*

The reason for the one star review is the spamming of ads it’s so annoying and I would never use it in the wild because of the ads

### 1/5 — Many ads

*2019-05-24, version 3.1*

The app says free but it is not. You can’t do anything with out many ads popping up. $2.99 to remove ads. Save your time. Deleting.

### 5/5 — Ma_ru

It's a little slow, but it's okay. On my iPhone 7 it works perfectly, the main thing is to keep the magnets out of the vicinity.🤗

### 5/5 — Yes!

*2019-10-04, version 3.1*

It works great, thanks to the developers! Love😍😍
