I downloaded the app and there is no content. THE APP CLOSES WHEN YOU CLICK ON THE LIBRARY. I prefer flipping the pages, much like iBooks, with the entire page overtaking the screen, rather than a transparent partial section. If they fix this, it will get my 5 stars. ### 3/5 — The Incomplete Edgar Allan Poe *2011-10-31, version 4.2* Probably the best Poe app out, and well worth 99 cents. But it is far from complete. I understand the decision not to include several pieces universally included in Complete Works, for example, Poe's illuminating Marginalia. But to overlook what Poe (and many scholars) considered to be his most important work - EUREKA - is unforgivable. This piece out-did Einstein (in1847!), prefigured Quantum Physics, and is essential to understanding the vast scope and grasp of Poe's mind. The app could be a little more user-friendly and a lot more attractive with very little effort. There are many good reasons why most ebooks flip pages rather than scroll down - the scrolling makes it impossible to find your place or a particular passage. The ability to mark passages would also be most helpful, and some prettying up is justified. But Most of All, Include "Eureka" - no edition can be called complete without it. ### 3/5 — Meh *2010-10-05, version 0* I love Poe's work, but it's rather difficult to read on my iPod. I think the layout is a bit silly, there are random Things in the beginnings of the stories that are usually not in English, and there are typos as well. Though it is astounding that such a collection exists for the iPod, or at all for that matter, the app isn't in my tastes. I suppose it just doesn't match up to the greatness of the author. Three stars all in all. ### 4/5 — Potentially great! *2013-10-04, version 5.0.4* I enjoy enourmosly reading Poe in this great collection of his amazing writings, but there are a few drawbacks to the App itself: 1. There is no way to select and copy text. I often need a translation from French (which is used a lot by Poe) or even sometimes from English, and there is no way to paste a piece of text into the translator. 2. Letters being cut in half at the edges of a page. 3. Sometimes the App forgets the last book i was reading and I need to find the book and the page again. 4. Increasing or decreasing text in the middle of the book repositions all the text so that I need to search for the correct place again. Otherwise I fully enjoy it ### 4/5 — Pretty cool *2011-10-28, version 4.2* I just got this app but I already think its good. The only thing I don't like is that you have to scroll down, and if you can, its kind if hard to find out how. Poe *2021-09-03, version 10.0* This app is a Poe lover’s ideal app. You can read his poetry and stories whether you’re taking a break, resting, busing to work, ready to turn the lights off or in bed ready to read one more line. So go ahead now and read another line or page. One nice addition would be links to or mentions of critical comments on the poems and other writings of Poe althougg those might force the apps creators to ask a fee. A biography could be included but the writing itself is so rich is doesn’t really need it! I wish I could pay again (certainly not my normal attitude in the days of greedy subscriptions).
