### 4/5 — C’est très bien

*2026-08-27*

### 5/5 — Great app for learning notation

*2024-06-20, version 1.5.8*

I really recommend spending some time with the app, it made me learn notes very quickly and efficiently. The UI is very clear and you can adjust a lot of stuff in the settings. I would suggest adding a mode where you can differentiate between chords, that would be fantastic! Or even showing a grand staff and having to guess multiple notes at the same time. But overall the app is very good, thank you!

### 5/5 — O melhor

*2024-06-18*

### 5/5 — Excellent learning and teaching app

*2024-04-02, version 1.5.8*

This is a great way to learn how to sight read music notation. I’ve really increased in speed and learnt a lot. It’s also a great teaching aid that is really motivating. A great app and very good value for money. I highly recommend this for any musician. Particularly guitarist, like myself who spent many years missing many aspect of music theory and written notation. I wish this app existed years ago when I was learning to play. Don’t be chump. Use this app to learn notation and enter the exciting world of music theory, will really start to make a lot more sense and transform your playing and understanding.

### 5/5 — Interface with Piano

*2024-01-12, version 1.5.8*

Nice application and fun to use. I have the app loaded on an iPad connected to my piano using a MIDI interface. This allows me to use the piano directly to respond to the notes scrolling in on the app. It took a few tries to get this working but I recommend it. Here are some details. My piano is an older Roland F50 with MIDI. The iPad is a newer model Version 7. I found my older equipment did not work. MIDI adapters come with USB A connectors. I had to get an adapter USB A to Lightning to connect to the iPad. The first MIDI interface I bought did not work. Finally I shopped for an interface that explicitly claimed to work with iPad, and this worked. There is one glitch; if the iPad goes to sleep it will disconnect from the piano and will not reconnect until the iPad is restarted. I have to do this each time I practice. I can live with this.

### 5/5 — I wish I’d found it sooner.

*2024-01-07*

I feel like I’ve wasted so much time trying to wrap my head around notation. This app is inexpensive and incredibly effective. Thank you!

### 5/5 — The best to learn reading

*2023-12-17*

This is the best application for learning piano and music notes more than any of the apps in this entire store. I truly love all the work you have done! I can finally play the piano without paying a yearly subscription.

### 5/5 — Melhor app do ramo

*2023-10-24*

### 5/5 — Family sharing

*2023-09-18*

Is it possible to share the in app purchase within the family ?

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback. I'm afraid it's not possible at the time. Best, Stéphane.

### 5/5 — Ocena

*2023-07-05, version 1.5.7*

### 5/5 — Love It!

*2023-05-18*

It’s helping me so much, grateful for this!!

### 5/5 — Excellent app for fun way of learning

*2023-04-05*

My Son enjoys using the app for learning from the app especially the arcade mode which is both playful and competitive for him. The app effectively complements his learning sessions with his keyboard teacher.

### 3/5 — Good app with disappointing feedback

*2023-01-29*

I started using this app as part of my kids music practice. They are at different levels of development, with three years between them, aged 8 and 11. My youngest never wants to learn music reading again, because the star rating and feedback does not reflect his own learning trajectory. He doesn’t get rewarded for his own improvement, and is rated against unsuitable benchmarks. It’s a big shame, because it’s otherwise a good learning tool.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Deceptive marketing

*2026-04-15, version 1.7.2*

Makes you go through all the palaver of setting up a complex custom drill before it declines to process it at the very last second unless you buy the premium version. If it was honest about this from the start, I might well have chosen to do that, but I’m offended at being extorted at the last second after spending time to customise it. I won’t reward sneaky behaviour with my custom

### 1/5 — Bluetooth not working

*2023-09-12, version 1.5.8*

Every other app works with my Bluetooth but not this, otherwise I would buy it.

**Developer response:** Custom training is now available in version 1.1.0 of the app, thank you for your patience.

### 1/5 — :C

*2021-05-26*

The notes are confusing, and they are behind so I get really confused from it so I need to start over.
On piano.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback. I'm not understanding it though. Can you please email me at hello@completemusicreadingtrainer.com so I can help you? Best, Stéphane. UPDATE: didn't receive an email, so I can't help!

### 2/5 — Pointless

*2025-05-20, version 1.7.2*

I don’t see the benefit in practising sight reading and pressing on a circle of notes rather than a mock up piano
Surely the point of this is to become more familiar with playing the keys? Why make us practice in a circle?

### 2/5 — Does not seem to work with MIDI virtual ports

*2022-07-07*

It seems like a good app, unfortunately it does not work with MIDI data from MidiGuitar 2, nor from MIDI Data from JamSynth , nor from MIDI data from A2M…….in essence it does not seem to recongnize any virtual port ( I also tried to create a bridge with Midiflow but again it does not show up as a MIDI output in Midiflow ). There is certainly a shortcoming in the code because other similar apps such as PianoNotes Pro seem to recognise any MIDI output you throw at it. So if you have an external controller it works ( I used it with a Yamaha Keyboard, an EWI and the Fishman TriplePlay Connect, and it recognises all of them ). I had a couple of mail exchanges with the developer but he took my original review personally and , either he is

**Developer response:** As I explained you, "normal" MIDI works fine, but MIDI through virtual ports is not (yet) supported in the app as it has not been tested. I sent you an email several weeks ago to offer that I take a look at implementing this feature, and I never heard back from you...

### 2/5 — Does not reliably work with a MIDI keyboard

*2021-07-12, version 1.0.9*

After enabling MIDI in the settings, the app will sometimes work for one test but then will ignore the MIDI keyboard for the next.

### 3/5 — Well Designed, but...

*2025-03-06*

In general, I am rather impressed with the application and how it can teach you to treat music using the app.

I paid for the app because it says in the description of the product that the microphone can be used so that the user can practice reading music on their instrument.

I understand that the microphone might not pick up everything, but I have repeatedly run into an issue where I keep hitting the correct note on my instrument (a mandolin) without the application recognizing it. The only way past it is for me to hit the wrong note. It seems that it is not having a problem with the microphone, but instead something going on with the software.

I reached out to the developers to ask them about the issue, and they quickly responded, which is a very positive thing. Unfortunately, their advice was not to use my instrument, but instead to use the application.

There are a great number of apps out there designed to help someone learn how to read music, and I thought this application's ability to detect the note being played on an instrument, set it apart from all the others. Sadly, that is not the case.

### 3/5 — Would like to see a grand staff on here!

*2024-06-22*

This would be the perfect app for piano sight reading too if there was a grand staff (treble clef above the bass clef) as if sight reading piano sheet music. I am also having trouble controlling the speed at which the notes move in the sight reading.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback. Giving bad reviews is definitely not the way to ask for features though: hurting the app will only result in less downloads and therefore less resources to add things. Grand staff will possibly be coming in a future mode, but for the speed at which the notes are moving, it's just depending on how fast you input notes. You can disable sheet music animation in the app settings if you don't want the notes to move gradually. Best, Stéphane.

### 3/5 — The program may for a few seconds not respond to the keys on the piano.

*2023-03-21*

The idea is great, but on the ipad I see constant delays when using the bluetooth midi controller, regularly pressing the piano keys do not work in the program. The program may for a few seconds not respond to the keys on the piano. ps with other programs using the bluetooth midi controller, no such problems.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback. I received your email, answered it, and then got no answer for you. Can you please answer my email so I can help you fix it? Best, Stéphane

### 5/5 — Very Useful

*2026-02-24*

I like this app because it helps me to be faster at sight reading. I wish it had chords, which would make it more challenging.

### 5/5 — I like it!

*2025-09-30*

Comprehensive and well designed app, effective for learning

### 5/5 — lol

*2025-04-06*

I love this app I have been looking for a app like this for a while

### 5/5 — Amazing app for improving sight reading

*2025-03-29*

I've been using this for many months now. Thanks to this app, I figured out how to sight read Bass clef and Treble clef at the same time, and I can immediately recognize every key signature. This app treats sight reading like a game, very novel idea. Highly recommend musicians learning to read music notes check this app out, it'll teach them to read very fast!

### 5/5 — Must to progress

*2025-02-24*

Truly one of the simplest and has everything that is needed from an app like this at the perfect price. Really happy that you are a part of my journey.

### 5/5 — Very smart.

*2024-11-02, version 1.6.3*

This is good.
It’s clever because the player controls the speed. The app tracks pace really smoothly. No fingering is given so you have to work out how to finger each exercise. It’s well thought out and progresses at a good pace.
This and ‘ReadAhead’ are the two best piano sight-reading trainers on the Appstore. It doesn’t force you to read ahead like ‘ReadAhead’ but it’s excellent for the note learning and coordination aspects of sight-reading.
