Not to mention the app needs a major overhaul. You can not minimize it and return to the app without it freezing and needing to be restarted, thus leaving you only one choice; scroll all the way down the huge back catalogue list to find the magazine you were reading. I know with the resources that CM has they can do much better and I sincerely hope they do. ### 4/5 — Can’t even log in! *2019-07-31, version 5.2.3* First I had problems with this app on iPhone. Now with my iPad Air I can’t even log in anymore. Have barely used this sub. Freezes up and ghosts password input. I see others with similar problems. Instead I always get a pop-up asking me to subscribe or buy more. Why woukd I buy more issues if I cant read the ones i already bought? Navigating the mag is extremely easy with a variety in of tools provided; resizing the pages just works - even in my old iPad. I haven't experienced a magazine app that contains videos, links, pics etc that is so easy to navigate without freezing or hanging. The only complaint is that I can't readily see how to remove auditioned mags from my library. Oh, and that's another good thing - we can really audition mags by re-sizing pages so we can actually read them - unlike some other music tech style mags. ### 2/5 — Crashing videos *2017-11-24, version 4.9.3* I’m very frustrated with how often this app crashes when trying to either play an embedded video or click a link. I’m using an iPad Pro, and running iOS 11. I have had the app crash no less than 20 times while trying to read one article tonight. I am finding myself regretting paying for files that cannot be opened in any other player but this buggy one, one that appears not to have been updated in over a year. ### 2/5 — Crashing regularly on ipad 4 *2017-11-07, version 4.9.3* Ios 11.1 is causing this to crash when backing out of magazine or exiting a video from or scrobbing a video. ### 1/5 — No longer works on iOS 11 *2017-10-24* Since updating to iOS 11 this app no longer works. ### 4/5 — Decent app all in all *2017-09-27, version 4.9.3* Most of this app works well. And it is a great way to store your magazines. But the video portions of all of the computer music videos take forever to start, and if you try to fast foreword it'll free entirely and the app will crash. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Can’t see magazine cover unless connected to internet *2024-04-01* I download the mags after purchase. Once i disconnect from the internet i can no longer see the magazine covers. Wasn’t like this before the revamp. Could you all fix this? Still being asked to pay for the cut tent issue download. For a while they were doing more and more videos that I could watch directly from the digital edition on my iPad. This latest issue. There were 2 as opposed to an issue a couple of months ago where there were more than twenty. This was my favorite, but if there’s not going to be how to videos that can be easily accessed on my iPad, I may cancel my subscription. Every magazine i attempt to buy ends in an error. Completely unreliable. ### 1/5 — Beware monthly subscribers of extra charges *2018-08-14, version 5.2.3* I’m been a monthly subscriber though this app ($2.99/month) but when I download the latest issue, it sometimes tries to charge me $4.99 for regular issues as if I hadn’t subscribed. Once I clicked download too hastily and I was effectively charged twice for the same issue ($2.99 and $4.99). I wish they’d fix this glitch, and stop the overcharge. ### 1/5 — Crashes Constantly *2018-02-03, version 4.9.3* On my iPad Mini 3 with iOS 11.2, this app is crashing every 20 minutes, and videos are not playing. With a paid subscription to this publication, I feel that I am not getting my money's worth any longer. The back issues I previously purchase show no price just download. The muses don’t always visit, but when they do, they better catch you working. And the lessons and tutorials here are great starting points. Super glad the app is here. Thanks! ### 5/5 — The best!! *2018-01-24* The best magazine for all musicians creating electronic music!! ### 5/5 — Excellent magazine; great articles, terrific software plug-ins *2017-03-30* The hard copy version of this magazine typically runs for around $21 CDN with the cover mount CD (w/. collected software and audio/video tutorial files typically running in at 10+ GB), and at that price for the articles and tutorials and software goodies it is still a bargain. So to have a digital download of the mag freely available from the AppStore for $3.99 the day of issue, with the included multimedia content easily accessible from the Future Media Vault Website, it is steal of a deal! Especially when you consider that you can get every issue going back to 2009 for around $70 CDN then this is an offer too great to refuse! If you are/ are seeking to be an electronic musician, you would be doing yourself a huge favour by investing in and reading Computer Music Magazine!
