Would give 5 stars but there is a bug which is very annoying: occasionally the AI just cheats and places a building on your (blue) land, often one with negative effects for the buildings that were safely within your territory. ### 3/5 — Could be better *2019-08-03* There needs to be a section that better explains how each card works. MegaCity is much better in this respect. There also needs to be an option to turn off the chatter from the characters. ### 3/5 — Doesn’t seem designed for iPhone *2018-04-01, version 1.19* I was drawn in by the wonderful art and novel gameplay concept, but quite let down — especially after paying an above average price for an iPhone game — to discover that it doesn’t really seem like it was ever designed for this device. Indeed, the game is a PC port, and I’m sure the iPad version is better. But on an iPhone the UI is so cramped and small that it’s just not a comfortable experience. Additionally, it doesn’t support full iPhone X resolution so you get black bars on all sides. As s final kicker, the art is noticeably lower resolution than expected and lacks that crisp retina look we all know and love. I’m going to delete the iPhone version, but hopefully the iPad version (which I believe is included in the price) is a better experience. But please address these technical issues or reduce the price. ### 4/5 — Great game, slow AI *2017-05-17* Really engaging game with brilliant AI. HOWEVER, that AI is way too slow. There's one piece where you need to play in a four player versus game. Waiting for the others to "take their turns" is just as annoying as waiting for humans to play. It takes so long, my iPad tries to sleep while I wait, even with the speed set to turbo. Three times I've played before bed and fallen asleep waiting for that particular board to play out. Other than that, it's truly a great, challenging game that's worth the money. ### 5/5 — Card game puzzler - Highly recommended *2017-03-24* I've finished the campaign and really enjoyed it and would happily pay for more scripted matches. I've just started playing Custom games and hope to find good settings to allow for longterm replay-ability as I feel like there are many more strategies to explore. If you like card games and puzzlers, you should pick this up! Highly recommended. ### 5/5 — Underrated gem *2017-01-28* I'm a big time iOS gamer, and I think this is the deepest, most enjoyable puzzler I've seen on the platform in years. The many mechanics are rolled out slowly over time, and there are a variety of choices regarding how to build your deck - with new cards earned with experience. I also love the multiplayer feature. Wish TouchArcade and Pocket Gamer had given this one more love! ### 5/5 — It's a true gem *2016-12-22* I was enraptured by this card-based strategy game. Very frustrating that the app blocks out other audio sources (podcasts, Apple Music, etc). Well worth the money and you don't have to worry about annoying in app purchases. It also has great caricatures along the way with hysterical dialogue. ### 4/5 — Addictive Puzzle Game.... *2016-10-20, version 1.17* ... if you look past the campaign narrative. In all honesty I was addicted to this game for a week however there is a few bugs in terms of the randomness in 'card' generation. When playing in some modes I get 'houses' or green card over and over to the point where I don't get anything else. The AI just seems to get the best cards too all the time meaning that it gets a lot of points before you get chance to build your skills or technology up. The solo mode is good as you have to think ahead but it would be better if there was some obstacles. Anyway this is a puzzle game not a city building game. I am disappointed that Apple are allowing them to charge a premium for a game which has calls to action like “click on the card” and an interface clearly designed for mouse interaction (tiny buttons with tiny hit areas). Too bad, the gameplay would definitely be enjoyable for people who like clever puzzles. On iPad it works a bit better, but if you are buying it for iPhone, don’t bother. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Amazing game *2019-10-14* It’s Simcity meets deckbuilding and tetris. I am impressed by the layers of strategic depth this game has to offer. You have 8 unique (and hilarious) characters each with their own tech tree, plus more than 200 cards to choose from, so the combinations are endless. The AI is also really good and offers a great challenge. The 3 game modes (solo, versus, and classic) are all ton of fun and require you to think differently. Easy tutorial levels let you learn as you go. Single player or PvP are both really well done. The animations, and voice acting are great. Continuing your progress can be frustrating however as the app often returns you to the menu after sleeping too long. The deck building and puzzle mechanics work very well, offering a lot of variety and replay value. The music, sound design, and voice acting really bring the city-building theme to life. The campaign is challenging and satisfying. I have 100+ hours logged in the PC version and can't get enough. My girlfriend and I play versus mode constantly. So happy to see this well-polished game brought to mobile so seamlessly. It's a lot of fun on either platform.
