## What is Confer Private AI?

Private AI so you can think out loud. Off the record.

Confer is a powerful AI assistant built so your conversations stay private—even from us. Your messages are encrypted with keys only you control. Most AI products ask you to trust a privacy policy. Confer makes privacy part of the architecture.

Ask about health, finances, relationships, work, or anything else you wouldn’t want sitting in a company’s plaintext database.

Private by design:
* Chat history, folders, memories, and attachments are end-to-end encrypted
* Your encryption keys remain under your control
* We can’t read your conversations, use them to train AI, or hand over plaintext we don’t have

Powerful by default:
* Photos and file attachments
* Long, continuous conversations
* Persistent memory that learns about you—not a readable profile stored about you
* Folders with their own custom instructions
* Private connections to services such as Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar
* Available on iPhone and the web

Confer is how personal AI should work: useful enough to tell it anything, private enough that you can.

### 3/5 — Great idea, execution needs work

*2026-08-28*

I was heavily evangelizing this idea with my friends. An idea of using cloud based inference models with true privacy of using a Device to TEE encryption so I can be open to use frontier tier models the way I would like to. I was okay paying for the higher tier as well. I was a subscriber for 3 months. The dream ended today when the service was unavailable the whole day. There is *no* support. There is no way to see the status page. No way to contact someone. That’s where I draw the line. I am paying money for a service and I unfortunately didn’t get it. I have supported Signal for years and I expected a similar class of service but I am disappointed. Sorry, Moxie.

### 4/5 — I like it a lot but

*2026-07-07*

It’s overpriced and I don’t even know what models I’m using and if they’re worth the price.
There are better alternatives like tinfoil and maple AI (both $10 cheaper) which also use Secure Enclaves, and we know they use good models like Kimi k2.6 and GLM 5.2.
Feels like I’m paying for moxie celebrity status, kinda like some Apple devices.

### 4/5 — Great Service, But Poor Performance

*2026-05-28*

A solid service led by a reputable developer, but the app needs work before it justifies its price. Currently, scrolling through long conversations feels sluggish, revisiting old chats brings long load times, and performance degrades during text rendering. The service offers state-of-the-art security and end-to-end encryption, but until the app improves, I think it would be a tough sell for those considering being a member.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.10.5 — 2026-08-29

1.10.5:

* Fix for connectivity issues

1.10.4:

* Some annoying bugs got fixed.

1.10.3:

* Images can now make the daring journey from your clipboard into a chat on iOS.
* Confer also speaks Ukrainian, and onboarding no longer confuses your name with your assistant’s.
* Plus the usual collection of small fixes, quiet improvements, and bugs encouraged to explore opportunities elsewhere.

1.10.2:

* Settings got some settings of their own. Personalization, memory, connections, security, data controls, appearance, and membership now live in a calmer, clearer home.
* You can now create and manage recovery keys. They can unlock your encrypted data on your other devices when your passkey isn’t available there.

1.10.0:

* Folders have learned to read. Add PDFs and other documents once, and every chat in the folder can reference them—from a decade of lab results to all 1,118 pages of Jung. They remain end-to-end encrypted, because the collective unconscious is already crowded enough. We also made uploads faster, search smarter, and attachment handling considerably less dramatic.
