WELCOME TO CONNECT ON-DEMAND: Introducing Connect On-Demand - a flexible, on-demand bus service brought to you by Shropshire Council. With Connect On-Demand you can choose the time you would like to travel by booking your journey through this easy-to-use app. You don’t need to check a timetable, simply book a time for the bus to pick you up from a designated bus stop that is convenient for you, which you can select in the app. Connect On-Demand doesn’t have a fixed route, our buses can travel anywhere between designated points within the operating zones. Or take you to pre-defined stops outside of the zone. Our smart technology will match your journey with other customers traveling in the same direction so you can be picked up along the way. HOW TO BOOK A JOURNEY: Booking a journey with Connect On-Demand is easy. Once you have downloaded the app click ‘Get Started’ to register your details. When you’re ready to book a journey, simply open the app and select a pick-up point from the list provided. You can also choose your pick-up time and destination. Before the journey is confirmed you will need to pay for the journey using a credit/debit card. If you have a concessionary bus pass you can add this to your user profile in the app. You will be given an estimated time when the bus will arrive at your chosen pick-up point and wait for one of our friendly drivers to arrive to take you to your destination. If you are traveling further afield you can use Connect On-Demand to connect to other public transport. WHAT IF THERE ARE NO BUSES AVAILABLE? If all our buses are busy and you cannot book a journey, wait a few minutes and check again. Our app is running in real time, so as soon as the next bus is available it will show in the app. CANCEL YOUR BOOKING: If you no longer need to make a journey that you have booked, this can be canceled in app, freeing up a seat for someone else. OUR BUSES: Connect On-Demand is fully accessible, with low floors and ramp access for wheelchair users, pushchairs and people with mobility difficulties. These buses will also only be traveling when needed, helping to reduce emissions around the county. I’ve got 10 ‘O’ levels, 3 ‘A’ levels, a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Computer Science and run my own successful business but unable to get this app to find a route into Shrewsbury from anywhere near my house - even though there are DRT Connect on Demand stops all around me. The buses looks clean and tidy but there is no surprise they are nearly always empty because booking one is probably only possible by winners of the 1% Club. ### 5/5 — Convenient and great value *2025-02-26, version 4.17.4* Great ! A first time user of this new service. Great value, convenient and such a luxury in a new bus! I would definitely recommend using this service and as the saying goes ‘use it or lose it’ . I travelled from my home ( a new housing estate ) to the centre of Shrewsbury and was dropped off at a convent spot. All this was done using the app Connect On Demand. ### 1/5 — Terrible app letting down great staff *2024-11-04, version 4.17.4* The buses and staff are brilliant and deserve five stars, but the app is terrible. The council have clearly farmed it out to the lowest bidder and have still been over charged. Bus details are inaccurate, you often can’t prebook tickets, yet can’t get them on the day either, and when you do manage to get a bus somewhere often get abandoned and need to taxi home instead. The office staff are great and make up for many of the deficits of the app, but are only in the office four hours a day, five days a week, so can’t be relied on out of hours. The service is such a good idea and deserves to be a success but with this app letting it down, never will be. ### 5/5 — Connect on Demand *2024-02-28, version 4.11.13* I’m really impressed with the Connect on Demand service. It’s lovely to know exactly when your bus is due and travel in style to your destination.
