## What is connote?

One input box. That's the whole app.

connote is a notes app that never asks you to organize. No folders to choose, no titles to invent, no deciding where things go — all the steps that make you put off writing are gone. Write what's on your mind, hit save, and the app reads the rest out of your words.

◆ Notes that connect
Mention the same person, project, or word again and your earlier notes appear alongside — automatically. Link directly with [[title]] when you want to. Open an old note and everything written about it since follows. Notes don't pile up; they connect.

◆ Dates and tags
The moment you save is where a note lives: Today, Yesterday, then by date. Any #tag you type in the text becomes its label. There is no separate metadata to fill in.

◆ Photos as instant prints
Attach a photo and it's developed into a square, film-toned print with your note written underneath. Several photos stack like real prints and fan out with a tap. Share a note and photo and caption leave as one image.

◆ Todos in one tap
Tap the check as you write — that's a todo. The app never guesses from your phrasing; only what you mark becomes a list.

◆ Graph
Everything you've written becomes a map of links, tags, and days.

◆ Yours alone
No account, no server, no ads. Notes live on your device and in your iCloud, syncing quietly between your own devices. JSON backup and Markdown export included (opens as-is in Obsidian).

The line you write today connects to what you'll write tomorrow.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-08

• A gentler start: five cards on first launch instead of the manual.
• Album: swipe or tap the arrows to move through your photos without putting each one down.
• Thoughts now counts every word you write, not only the ones already linked, so the screen has something to say from day one.
• Words in other languages are read properly now — English and Japanese notes connect by what they mean, not by "the".
• A shared print carries a faint connote in the corner.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-06

• The graph is three screens now. Thoughts draws the words that hold your notes together as bubbles — the bigger one is the one doing more of the holding. Tap it to see what it holds.
• Dates opens on today and turns one day at a time, with the whole timeline down the left.
• A photo you tap opens as the whole print, paper and caption included.
• Films now include As shot, if you would rather keep the photo as it came.
• More is a menu that slides in from the left, in icons.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-08-05

• Two films when you add a photo — Soft and Vivid. You see the film on the frame before you save.
• Photos are instax mini now: an upright 46:62 frame on neutral white paper, not the square one.
• A gentle reminder once a day. Set the time in Settings; what it says comes from your notes — something you wrote on this day, what is still to do, or how was today.
• A light tap when you save or delete. You can turn it off in Settings.
• A shared photo carries the print's rounded corners and shadow.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-08-04

• Pick photos inside the app. The library no longer opens on top of the app, so the keyboard stays up, and several photos come in the order you picked them.
• Connections and the note menu open where you tap — the ··· at the end of a note. Notes below no longer shift.
• The check button at the top filters todos; the circle beside a note finishes it.
• On this day is a folded line under the search, open only when you tap it.
• Choose the note order in Settings — newest or oldest first.
• Alignment, # and [[ ]] tools sit above the input as you write.
• Dates from another year show the year, and a note you jump to lights up.
• Fixed caption alignment when sharing a note with a photo — it now matches what you see.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-08-02

Tapping anywhere else now closes an opened note. The share/edit/delete buttons and the list of connections no longer stay on screen.
