## What is Constitution of Australia?

The Australian Constitution provides the basic rules for the government of Australia. This app contains the full text of the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act including but not limited to content from the official revised reprint dated 1st January 2012.

The app also contains numerous links to Australian case law accessible via the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII) website (internet connection required). With features like full text search, this app aims to be a useful companion guide to the study and practise of Australian Constitutional Law.

The application icon features the Aboriginal Flag of Australia for the purpose of encouraging public discussion on an issue of constitutional significance: firstly, why were Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the nations first peoples, excluded from Commonwealth jurisdiction in the original drafting and subsequent enactment of the Constitution? and secondly, should Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples be expressly recognised in Australia's Constitution? If so, how should that recognition take place? for example, a voice to parliament; and what legal implications, if any, may arise as a result of any proposed amendment? These are some initial questions to consider as you read through the provisions. The only means of attaining Constitutional recognition is via a future referendum under the mechanisms set out under s 128. Only 8 out of 44 referendums have been successful since the Constitution became law in 1901.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-08-18, version 1.7*

I never thought to look for an app with the constitution until my aunty recommended it.
For someone who has some challenges with literacy I wondered if there's a way the developer could add/create a feature (?) that could be helpful to and encourage more people with learning disabilities to use this app

I like the addition of the questions to start debate also. Some reviewers have noted some odd opinions about what your apps picture should include and why... To me it seems odd because they didn't develop the app why does it matter.
-Australian flag
-Aboriginal flag
-Torres Strait Island flag
They are all legally recognised as official flags of Australia. I don't think the flag is really the issue although July 14th 1995 not being recognised as an important and memorable date in our country's history could be something to talk about?

### 5/5 — Good update

*2014-12-30, version 1.5*

Very clean update, thank you

### 5/5 — Aboriginals

*2014-12-14, version 1.4*

Those who complain about having the aboriginal flag represented on Australia, have no idea of the meaning.. It's the sign of ownership, that aboriginals are the traditional owners of the land we stand on. Yes, we should have both flags representing this land but, only when we are both considered equal to each other. Still waiting for the racism to stop. [-O-]

### 4/5 — Great App Thank you!

*2013-06-11, version 1.4*

This app is vital for students who are studying law like me. However, the only downside for this app is the design of the flag. It's fine with me adding the Aboriginal flag on there. But this flag it does not represent whole Australian people, because it is Aboriginal flag. Thus, it will be great if you added the two flags beside each other in the same map. Furthermore, I first thought this app about the Aboriginal legislation only because of the flag.

Thankyou

### 5/5 — Great work

*2012-12-30, version 1.4*

Logical and in-depth. Thank you, a great help with the law cases. The flag is great by the way.

### 5/5 — Great for students

*2012-02-29, version 1.3*

Better than the other app simply due to the hundreds of case law references. A must have for Constitutional Law students!

### 5/5 — Constitution of Australia is a worthwhile app.

*2011-05-29, version 1.1*

Great app for practitioners or students. Logical layout and helpful links to relevant cases make this a useful resource.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2011-05-24, version 1.1*

I don't care which flag you use... I love this app!!!

### 5/5 — Really useful Tool
