### 5/5 — Love this app, but recent update broke it.

*2026-06-07*

I updated the app recently on my iPad and suddenly nothing works, I cannot import, create characters, monsters, anything. The app works great on my phone, but on my ipad nothing works. I cannot even access the compendium at all. Everything works great on my iPhone but iPad does not function at all.

**Developer response:** Update: The latest release (3.1.1) should fix your issues. Please don’t hesitate to reach out in case of problems.

Thanks for reporting the issue. I recently pushed a significant release and might have inevitably broken the iPad experience. I will fix this soon!

### 4/5 — Pretty good and flexible encounter app.

*2026-03-13*

This app lets you build encounters pretty quickly. They can be detailed or bare minimum.

There’s a handful of small bugs but none that really affect the app, stats, or encounters hugely negatively.

Some things I’d like to see, the ability to add notes with links, magic items, and the ability to customize the abilities and skills so that this app can work easily for other systems.

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2025-11-17*

I spent a long time searching for a good DM app that was both free and useful. This app solves both. The interface is clean and intuitive, and the compendium is comprehensive from the start. There were some spells and monsters I had to add manually, but it was a quick procedure. I also love how easy it is to whip up monsters so fast. Whats more, The dev is a real person and not a soulless corporation, which makes the app feel like it got real love. I was able to run a full one-shot out of this app easily. I do wish that mechanical muse took other API keys than just OpenAI, though. Another feature i would like to see sometime in the future is some sort of support for maps. This would be a huge task, though, so I don’t blame the dev for not implementing it yet. All in all, it’s a wonderful app, thats made my DMing a lot better.

### 5/5 — Wonderful

*2025-05-25, version 2.9.2*

It’s not perfect, and a couple of things I want to do are difficult to find, or not intuitive. But they’re all small things. This is a wonderful app to help run encounters, and by far the best thing I’ve come across.

### 5/5 — I wish I could pay for this!!!

*2024-11-25, version 2.9.2*

Absolutely revolutionized how I DM! I'm blown away by the depth of this app and also by the simple but incredibly effective user experience. I cannot recommend this enough.

### 3/5 — Party leveling

*2024-11-01*

I cant seem to change the parties number or level, it just adds a new non permanent party with them, maybe editing your party is easy and there but i havnt been able to do it, id love to know how but the help page has nothing on it

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear you’re having difficulties with getting Construct to do what you want. If you reach out through email (in Construct settings) with some more details I’ll do my best to help. Thanks!

### 2/5 — Okay so far

*2024-05-15*

Wanted and encounter builder to help manage my campaign. Within the second encounter I had to build a goblin boss which is a standard monster from the monster manual. The program has crashed multiple times while editing monsters on characters. Items, skills and other features are not built in to help build.

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear Construct is not reliable for you. I'll double check the crash reports for any parts that need fixing. If you know of specific steps that always make the app crash, it would be really helpful if you could send those to hello@construct5e.app. Thanks!

### 2/5 — Epic Stats

*2024-03-17*

Great app, very simple and easy to use, however I’m not able to raise any stats above 20 in the creature creator for some reason, plenty of the creatures in the compendiums already have stats at 20+ so I’m not sure why it won’t allow me to do the same. In addition, there seems to be no way to delete the tutorial encounter? I do really like the simplicity of this app, but honestly these things are starting to ware on me.

**Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to give your feedback! The stats issue will be solved in the next release (2.9.1). I can see how the way the tutorial encounter is handled can be confusing. It can be cleared, but the scratch pad encounter remains as a default place to create a quick encounter. I will consider an option to hide it from the screen.

### 3/5 — Epic Stats

### 5/5 — Such a good app for first time DMs!

So flexible and informative for a newbie

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.2.0 — 2026-06-20

Some say Construct is a dice roller that got out of hand. Without confirming or denying that claim, this update pays tribute to Construct’s humble beginnings with roll stats.

See how lucky your roll was, explore the distribution behind a dice expression, and pretend this was the plan all along.

Fun! If you’re into those things.

### 3.0.2 — 2025-10-28

Polished up some scuff marks. Construct looks as good as new again.

Also: this update adds a new way to show your appreciation by making a donation to the tip jar.

### 3.0.1 — 2025-09-30

This is a truly significant update to Construct, long overdue. Maybe we should have called it "Construct for 6e" or "Construct 2025". No, let's just go with "Construct 3.0". Here's what's new:

- Compendium realms & documents. Import lore into tidy documents, move/copy entries between them, and keep tabs on where everything came from.
- Improved importing functionality gives direct access to a wealth of free and open monsters and more, through open5e.com.
- Editing of creatures has become so much more sophisticated. You can now easily change creature types, duplicate, or use Mechanical Muse to conjure up completely new creatures for you.
- So many tweaks and fixes. More than I can count! To be honest, I didn't even try.

I can't wait to see what you do with these newfound powers. (I can only know if you hit the feedback button!) As for me, I'll be using it to plan the impending doom of my players' characters in the Tomb of the Nine Gods.

### 2.9.2 — 2024-06-04

Fixes a crash when editing creature actions/features/reactions.

### 2.9.1 — 2024-05-23

Corrected a mistake to support ability scores for monsters up to 30 (instead of 20). I ensure you this was not a plot to protect your players. Construct is not sentient in that way.

Hide all evidence of fudged rolls, fake checks and other dicefoolery with a new option to clear the dice log.

Improved handling of special characters when searching the compendium.
