Construe is a reading companion for curious readers. Bring in a page, explore its vocabulary, and turn the words you discover into words you remember.

BRING A PAGE
Scan printed English text with your camera, choose photos, or paste a passage. Text recognition happens on your device. Correct the recognized text whenever you need to.

EXPLORE IN CONTEXT
Tap a highlighted word for its meaning and pronunciation. Keep the sentence where you found it, add your own definition or notes, and mark familiar words so they stop interrupting your reading.

BUILD YOUR COLLECTION
Keep your saved words in one searchable collection, and see which you are still learning and which are already familiar. Saved definitions and a small original editorial dictionary are available offline. Broader dictionary lookups require an internet connection.

MAKE WORDS FAMILIAR
Practice with spaced repetition flashcards or type the word that matches a definition. Set a daily goal and choose an optional local reminder. Your review schedule follows your recall.

KEEP YOUR READING YOURS
No account is required. Scanned pages, saved words, and notes stay on your device. Create a restorable backup in Files, export a Markdown collection or CSV vocabulary list, and choose paper, night, or system appearance. Construe supports Dynamic Type.

Reading tools are free. An entirely optional tip jar supports continued development; tips are one-time purchases and do not unlock features.

Construe currently focuses on English. Word recommendations are on-device suggestions, not a proficiency assessment. Online dictionary data comes from FreeDictionaryAPI.com and Wiktionary, licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. Source and license links accompany entries.
