### 3/5 — Good, but...

*2026-05-14, version 5.14.1*

It's great to have the ability to access CR easily and quickly in a store.

However, the filters for most categories I've looked at recently are useless. I don't care about the brand of air conditioner, but I do care about how quiet an air conditioner is and how energy efficient it is. Give us useful filters!

### 1/5 — Keyboard covers sign in Submit button

*2026-04-21, version 5.13.1*

Impossible to sign in because the keyboard covers the "Submit" button.

### 1/5 — App won’t download

*2026-04-14, version 5.13.0*

Trying to use but it won’t download off the App Store. 😑😑😑

### 1/5 — This app is useless now

*2026-03-12, version 5.12.1*

Used to be a great app, but now even simple searches yield useless results.

### 1/5 — No longer works

*2026-03-10, version 5.12.1*

Approaching 50 years of subscribing over 3 generations of my family, we have been believers and supporters of Consumer Reports, but as everything in life, all good things end sooner or later.

For the last year no one in my family has been able to sign into CR with either apps or on various devices and different browsers. The web site continually says it is down and to go to the main page. This has been going on for close to two years.

I just downloaded the app on a new device and when opened it simply shows the green screen saying Consumer Reports and provides no login screen.

We understand that this could be an isolated case and our investigations and reverse engineering efforts seem to explain what the unacceptable explanations may be.

Funny that a renewal notice was recently sent. Sorry to say we wont put our family at risk due to some false whims, although we understand that CR needs to protect itself from hackers and misinformation.

Would have been nice to reach 50 years but it’s not worth the risk.

### 2/5 — Love CR

*2026-03-09, version 5.12.1*

After the new update to fix bugs, I now have bugs. Cannot get a full screen or search for topics.

### 1/5 — Severely limited

*2026-02-26, version 5.11.0*

Consumer Reports has a long reputation for rigorous product testing. You won’t find that for most products in the app. Instead, you’ll find an AI chat bot and a bunch of generic number ratings with no explanations. Save your money and append “Reddit” to your searches.

### 1/5 — iPad compatibility

*2026-02-17, version 5.10.1*

Unable to open in iPad. Deleted and reloaded app-no success. App only opens with promo, and no further.

### 3/5 — Menu Problem

*2026-02-07, version 5.10.1*

When scrolling the “All Products A-Z” menu on my newer iPhone 16e if it’s done quickly or when nearing the bottom of the list, the list starts jumping around and getting scrambled. I’ve tried reinstalling the app and re-starting my phone. I think it’s version 5.10.

### 1/5 — Not trust worthy

*2026-02-07, version 5.10.1*

I find often common high-end products are missing from their test. I purchased a Wi-Fi thermostat that they rated the top and replaced my 10-year-old Honeywell and found my Honeywell much more user-friendly and did not agree with the CR highest review rating on the Ecobee thermostat rating. I do not trust consumer report anymore.

### 2/5 — Disappointing

*2026-02-07, version 5.10.1*

I paid for a subscription because I needed detailed information, which they do not provide for 95% of the products on here. Instead, you get a number and a couple of bars with arbitrary values.

As an app though, it’s still disappointing. Want to make it glitch? Go to the product list under the A-Z tab and scroll fast. By the time you get to the R-S range, it starts flickering back and forth to where it’s completely broken until you restart the app.

Lastly, they advertise expert advice, but all you get is generative AI.

### 1/5 — App is broken

*2026-02-05, version 5.10.1*

App crashes every time I go to the my product section making it mostly unusable.

### 3/5 — Error Message

*2026-02-04, version 5.10.1*

I get a floating block with the words “ERROR An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again” every time I open and the app . I just noticed that it also appears when I try to build and price a car ; the screen then stays blank after the error message wanders off.
Please fix

### 1/5 — AI Disaster

*2026-02-02, version 5.10.1*

I’m a long time supporter of Consumer Reports but only use it a few times a year to help decide on major purchases. Today Im trying to check on a personal electronic device and am stuck in AI chat hell. I enter the name of the device and get… nothing. No response, no alternative, just a blank blue screen with video snowflakes. What has happened to the thoughtful, informative response I’ve always gotten. Cancelling my membership.

### 1/5 — Only Opened Introductory Pages

*2026-01-17, version 5.10.1*

I downloaded the app. I could only get three screens explaining the benefits of Consumer Reports to show.

### 1/5 — Terrible on iPad

*2026-01-14, version 5.10.0*

App does not scale for use on iPad. Very poor interface. It looks like a bloated iPhone view that doesn’t even take up the width of the screen.

### 1/5 — Ripping off Canadians.

*2026-01-09, version 5.10.0*

Been a member for 35 years and not once have they done any reports on Canadian products.
No longer inform us of recalls, Never answer emails. Magazines missing.
I’m done.

### 1/5 — OBSOLETE?

*2026-01-06, version 5.10.0*

1️⃣With all the warning about AI mistakes—TRUST factor⬇️their reviews. 2️⃣CR print version format renders them useless. 3️⃣Have called them—gave up b/c CR Unwilling/Unable to change. Except for AI—CR is a throwback to the LAST century. 4️⃣CR gives🚫clues to how specific products aspects are weighted. 5️⃣Been burned by their recs. Lost$$$. ⚠️Too expensive b/c so many free options avail.

### 1/5 — Money Hungry

*2026-01-05, version 5.10.0*

I subscribed to Consumer Reports both digitally and to receive the magazine. Frequently I receive emails and snail mail solicitations for donations. I paid for your services already plus today I received a “raffle” solicitation, again asking for another donation. How much of your solicited monies were used for the printing and mailing of this raffle? I have cancelled my renewal and will no longer be using your services.

### 1/5 — Privacy settings don’t work

*2025-12-28, version 5.10.0*

How can a consumer focused app not let user opt out of selling their data?
Cancelled my membership.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Electric skillets

*2026-08-27, version 5.19.0*

I just downloaded this app.to check on electric skillets and I had to chat with AI. It told me they never tested electric skillets. REALLY??? That’s all I wanted to know about at this time. Forget this app.

### 1/5 — App no longer works

*2026-08-22, version 5.19.0*

After the latest update, the app no longer works, all I get is an error message “IAP initConnection returned false”. Tried emailing, but all I received was a generic response that didn’t help.

### 1/5 — The updated release on 08/20/26 crashes on the app launch splash screen….

*2026-08-20, version 5.19.0*

The updated release on 08/20/26 crashes on the app launch splash screen….

### 1/5 — Garbage!!

*2026-07-31, version 5.18.0*

I paid money for this app and it does not list most of the items I need info on. Please don't waste your money on this scam of an app!!!!

### 1/5 — Hasn’t worked in months

*2026-07-21, version 5.17.0*

I’ve been paying for consumer reports for about a decade. I don’t use it all the time. It’s clutch when shopping for appliances or a used car. Now my dad needs hearing aids and his buddy spent $3k on some and they don’t even work, so naturally I go to open the CR app and “something went wrong” atop a white screen is all I get. This has been the case for months. Never seen an app fail like this for this long. I’m starting to wonder if Consumer Reports is failing as an organization. Might be just another case of greedy c suite management bleeding the organization dry.

### 1/5 — The website works but not the app

*2026-07-03, version 5.16.0*

No matter how many times I load and delete the app it tells me that my password is wrong even though the website accepts the password. The app simply does not work.

### 1/5 — Get paid commissions

*2026-07-02, version 5.16.0*

Consumer Reports AI denied that they received commissions until I went into their details and found it and cut pasted it and then their AI admitted it.
Used to play on words. Then kept saying, but that doesn’t affect any of their reviews.
This is the third or fourth time I’ve tried to post a review

### 1/5 — Lost all credibility

*2026-06-25, version 5.15.1*

Popups for Amazon prime deals, why pay for biased content… gross

### 1/5 — Upgrade keeps crashing

*2026-06-11, version 5.15.0*

Keep getting a “something went wrong” message every time I open the app after the last upgrade.

### 1/5 — A Mediocre app has gotten worse

*2026-05-05, version 5.14.0*

I’ve been a subscriber for years. This app used to be somewhat useful in comparing products. Now it is not worth looking at. The website is gotten worse as well but with a little effort some good information can still be gleaned.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best Buyer Information on the Web

*2025-05-18, version 5.3.1*

Been using CR for Casandra major purchases before there was an internet. Has save Mr thousands. Love the app. The annual “Buyer Guide “ is worth its weight in gold. It’s worth having a subscription to both the app and magazine. Never been disappointed buying their recommended products. Their safety ratings of cart could save your life or someone in your family.

### 5/5 — I love this so much

*2024-10-05, version 5.0.0*

It helps me and my family to pick the best product and the ones to avoid

### 5/5 — Never buy anything without checking CR first!

*2024-09-12, version 5.0.0*

over the last several years, I have come to trust consumer reports implicitly, and never buy anything without checking CR first!
They have never steered me wrong.

### 5/5 — Secure Buying

*2024-08-28, version 4.3.4*

The best way to assure yourself of buying a great product is to read the Consumer Reports revue. You learn the aspects of the product and can move forward.

### 5/5 — It’s always my go to

*2024-08-11, version 4.3.4*

Can justify the price with a single purchase of an air conditioner or air fryer. I saved money on an air purifier. The savings on replacement filters alone on Conway make CR a win

### 5/5 — Searching

*2024-07-29, version 4.3.4*

The search piece of your website is difficult to navigate. It is not at all intuitive. If your query is not precise it won’t work.

### 5/5 — Always trusted

*2024-07-22, version 4.3.4*

I have always trusted consumer reports so I’m so glad that this app exists. I just found it and I’m really glad to have a place to look for things like mattresses and things that usually just I shake my head and I think where can I find a good review and I trust you guys so that’s worth a lot.

### 5/5 — Really helpful!

*2024-07-20, version 4.3.4*

Great app!

### 5/5 — Awesome App

*2024-06-30*

It is an excellent app for both from-home shopping and in-store shopping; always having product ratings easily accessible makes a significant difference, especially when making major purchases that cost thousands of dollars. consumer reports vice a truly awesome service that I have found to be easily accessible and dependable.

Over more years than I’d care to admit, I have found CR to be a huge time saver especially when making a major purchase. Although no rating service can be guaranteed, I have found that, for the most part, CR has been an extremely reliable resource that I have come to depend on when deciding on what will be the most practical, reputable, and well-made product before I pick up the phone or head out the door.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the 5-star review! We're so glad to read that CR has been a huge time saver when making major purchases. Thanks for your continued support!

### 5/5 — Over 20 years has never steered me wrong!

*2024-06-23, version 4.3.4*

Here are a few items I bought recommended as Best Buy’s and have been 100% satisfied with purchases. BBQ, Dishwasher, (2) Mobile Phone’s, washer and dryer and so many smaller items. Too many to list…
CR provides Great information and insight without the hype or sales pitch.
 WE LOVE CR
