### 2/5 — Wish it worked better

*2011-02-22, version 1.2.0*

This is about version 1.2. for iPad (32 GB). The idea is wonderful, I just wish it actually found all matching entries. I have about 5000 contacts, and while it said it loaded them all, a search finds only a small number of entries I know would match my simple criteria. I'll hang onto the app in case a future update improves, since this is an app I really could use if it worked as advertised.

### 4/5 — It works perfectly

*2008-12-22, version 0*

This app read my 3200 contacts without a problem. So it seems that the latest version has gotten rid of the quirks. It does the job as promised.

### 4/5 — RETRACT !!!!Crashes all the time - worthless

*2008-11-15, version 0*

I will take back my original post and say thank you for fixing the problem. I updated the program to the latest version and that fixed the problem. I successfully inported 3700 contacts within a reasonable period of time.

### 1/5 — Wait Wait Wait for Loading Contacts

*2008-10-11, version 0*

You cannot enter contact name, company or phone number until all of your contacts are loaded into the "Contact Find" program. I have 1000 business contacts and it takes 45 seconds or longer to load before you can type or do a search. Needs work on this program.

### 1/5 — What is the delay?

*2008-10-06, version 0*

I believe the developer has created the fix for the crashing problem for ContactFind. Why has Apple not updated this in the Apple Store? For all of us who purchased the program, we should be granted the upgrade. If Apple wants to be more selective, then good idea, but from now into the future. Let us stop a fix what is already wrong.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2008-09-30, version 0*

I agree with several observers. I have 2,000 contacts and the program sifts through them all before accepting input and then crashes. I hope someone will design a useful "find program" for the Iphone. I miss my Palm Pilot. We also need a program to send pictures with Text Messages.

### 1/5 — CRASHES - Never has worked at all for me.

*2008-09-29, version 0*

I have tried a number of things to get this app to work but it crashes after about 5 seconds. I have removed it and reinstalled it with no luck. I thought It might work with the most recent update - But no luck. This was a complete waste of money. Some reviews I read indicate that the program will not work with a large number of contacts. I have 243 and do not think that is a large number compared with some of the notes in the reviews. The features this app claims to offer are nice but don't waste your money because clearly this app was not tested well and was poorly written.

### 1/5 — Crashes EVERY time I try to launch it. Uninstalled.

*2008-09-26, version 0*

v2.1 Crashes EVERY time I try to launch it. Uninstalled.

### 1/5 — terrible...

*2008-09-26, version 0*

It crashed when I first downloaded it. I can never use it! I waited for the upgrade, hoping that it would be fixed, no such luck! It still crashes as soon as it starts to read the contacts. Need my $$ back!!

### 2/5 — 9-23 Nonfunctional

*2008-09-23, version 0*

I purchased this app to search contacts using the notes field.

Upon opening, the program has to compile an index EVERY time you use it. I have about 1,800 contacts. It took my phone about 2 minutes before it was even ready for a search! Then, upon searching, I discovered you can only search by one keyword! Thus, if I'm trying to do a search on multiple criteria, the program is useless. Furthermore, if there is a problem and the app crashes, I have to repeat the whole process and wait another 2 minutes before I can do another search!

This app is basically nonfunctional and I would discourage anyone from purchasing it.

It's horrible that Apple has not included this simple functionality in the iPhone. I'm also greatly disappointed that I can't do a search for events in Calendar. These were 2 of the most important functions that I used daily when I had my Palm Treo, a vastly less powerful handheld computer!

### 1/5 — Doesn't Work

*2008-09-18, version 0*

The functionality of the app sounds great, but it crashes when I try to launch it, so I cannot even test it. This application clearly is not yet ready for prime time!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2024-02-14*

Says it allows searching by fields other than the name, but it doesn’t. I’m on IOS 17.3; probably is no longer being updated. Submitted an error report; didn’t hear back. This should be removed from the App Store. Requested a refund.

### 1/5 — Don't download

*2014-10-09, version 1.2.3*

Terrible app doesn't even work...it wouldn't load my contacts into the app, it would just show a loading screen. I wouldn't even have rated it a star...save your money people.

### 1/5 — What A Shame!!!

*2012-01-19, version 1.2.1*

I downloaded the app and it started to import my contacts. Leaving the phone turned on for approximately 36 HOURS it was still important contacts. I doubt if it will ever finish. I had a Palm and it could search contracts. This app looked like it could work as well, but it just cant get its act together.

### 1/5 — 5 star app only used 1 star to gain attention from developers

*2011-06-24, version 1.2.0*

I would love to see an update that stops the needs to even use stock address book in a sense except for adding contacts and syncing to other apple devices and apps. As of now in order to see all contacts you leave the search field empty press search and all the main info pops up except for notes and dates or anniversaries. This could be easily fixed with a view all button that let's you view ALL INFO on every contact. Other than that one flaw this is one of my favorite apps.

### 1/5 — IT Pro

*2010-01-12, version 0*

Fails to load more than 778 contacts so completely useless for me. Tech support non- responsive. Waste of $$ unless you have few contacts.

### 1/5 — how do i get a refund

*2009-12-04, version 0*

it wouldnt even import all my contacts
so i dont know how it works
it crashed after 700 contacts imported
and there is no one to contact on the blog link

### 1/5 — Inconsistent

*2009-08-21, version 0*

This application does not find some obvious searches. Yet it finds hidden ones.

### 1/5 — Confused

*2008-11-26, version 0*

Is there any way to SMS from this app. If so, this is a 5 star app!

### 1/5 — Great idea....HORRIBLE implementation !!

*2008-11-13, version 0*

I have 1900 contacts and many, many "notes" in those contacts. I can't believe that the phone does not come with a good search of all fields in contacts - but was happy to purchase an app that does this. I read the terrible reviews, but am desperate - so I purchased it anyway. It keeps crashing - will not read beyond 58 contacts - does not work...........

I cannot believe that this program made it to the app store !! TERRIBLE !!

### 1/5 — very poor implementation

*2008-10-25, version 0*

Don't spend the money, as this application is, frankly, unusable: it conks out before even starting, or runs through all contacts (I have 1251) TWICE, or after compiling my contacts twice it won't let me type in one of the input boxes. I am sure that it can be made to work, but it should not have been allowed in the store in its present stage of development.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — This is most under-rated App

*2011-08-17, version 1.2.1*

This is the most unknown, undiscovered gem of an app I know about! It's an absolute necessity for anyone who has a multitude of contacts in their address book and who use the "notes" section to include supplementary names, extensions and other useful bits of info that are not included in normal contact information. If you have more than 100 names in your address book and also use the "notes" and any other sections of the contact page for important additional info (like name of secretary, name of customer service rep, categories like painters, carpenters, other info you include in "notes" section)- this app is a must!

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2011-04-17, version 1.2.0*

It works as advertised. I am now able to search using any criteria such notes. Its great. The only drawback is having to remember to import contact every time one updats ones contact in outlook or on the phone

### 5/5 — This app is now even more valuable!

*2010-08-14, version 0*

Apple has truncated the notes field to just 12 lines in iOS4 instead of the full screen view it has in all previous versions of its firmware. For most business people, who have lots of notes, it is now very difficult to wade through your notes with iOS4. Your app shows a nice full screen view of the notes and makes it easy to read. Thanks so much.

I have complained to Apple of how "stupid" is was for them to only show 12 lines of notes, but so far, as of iOS 4.0.2, they have not changed it.

### 5/5 — Does what it should!

*2009-08-28, version 0*

This app loaded my 600 contacts, quickly. Does not have to reload every time. Search by notes, partial name and phone number worked like you would expect. Call can be placed directly from this app.

### 5/5 — Contact search

*2009-08-27, version 0*

Perfect! loaded all my contacts fast! works great. just what i needed

### 5/5 — A truly useful app!

*2009-04-10, version 0*

This is one of my favorite apps. Anyone who has used Blackberry's address book will know how much better it is than Apple's address book. This handy app, which is one of many things Apples address book should have had built in does not close the gap but at least starts narrow it.

### 5/5 — Very good indeed after upgrade

*2008-12-15, version 0*

Contact Find originally had it all except for speed. It searches in all fields and is very efficient. It you, as I, use the notes field as a free-form database for all kinds of information, you need a fast and reliable search engine to find things. Contact Find now qualifies. I have about 1,300 contacts, some of them with a large amount of text in the notes field. I can enter any string and it is found in very few seconds. It does this by keeping available the last set of Outlook contacts that was fed into it so that it does not have to reload them when it receives a query. Thus, it is a good idea manually to order it to update its contacts once in a while. Otherwise the newest information will not be available. That is a small priice to pay!

### 5/5 — This is exactly what I was hoping to find in an application of this type!!

*2008-12-01, version 0*

it is an excellent application, It looks in every text of the contact making it much easier to find. It is just what the iPhone needed. It is very stable.
Congratulations!!!! Goood Job!!!

### 5/5 — Excellent application - fills an important need

*2008-09-26, version 0*

This latest release is working perfectly for me. Note that I had not been able to use the first version after repeated crashes.

Though the reviews have been poor, I think most reviewers have not really been able to work with Contact Find and need to give it another chance.

Coming to an iPhone from Windows Mobile (used out of desperation for PDA functions, even as a dedicated Mac user), I was incredibly disappointed to be unable to search throughout my contact fields (as I had done on my WM devices). For instance: I get a page or message to return a phone call to xxx-yyyy phone number. It looks familiar, but who is it? Now I can find this immediately. Also, I use my Address Book (Contacts) notes extensively, especially for fields that don't sync. I can now search through these notes allowing much enhanced productivity. With the inexplicable lack of ToDo syncing via Calendar, I have had to make a Contact called "ToDo", where I keep my updated ToDo list in the Notes section. Now, I can easily search this as well.

I have found Piet Jonas to be incredibly responsive and helpful in improving this application. I expect Contact Find to get even better in future versions. It is really one of the best I have found, and actually does something that helps improve the utility of my iPhone (as opposed to the vast majority of other applications).

Bottom line: great application, will be even better. If it crashes for you, I strongly urge you to try the newer version to see its true value. I only wish something similiar could be made for Calendar entries.

### 5/5 — Palm Users - Rejoice!

*2008-09-17, version 0*

For Palm users or x-Palm users, here is the App we have been waiting for on the iPhone. Keep in mind it only searches the iPhone Contact List (not the yellow “Notes” files on your iPhone). But it’s the first search tool that can search all the various fields in your Contact List, not just the name field.

For those that don’t understand the need for this: Say you had a company install a beautiful skylight in your home two years ago, and you put the company info into your contact list along with the word “Skylight” in the memo field. At dinner your friends talk about putting in a skylight and ask you for the name of the company that did yours. You could manually scroll through hundreds of your contacts like a Rolodex in hopes of coming across it, or using this App, just type in “Skylight” and retrieve the information immediately. This is one strength of the Palm platform, and now the iPhone can have that same functionality.

The App must load your hundreds of contacts into memory each time you open the program, so you must wait 15 seconds or more before the search can take place. However, during that time you can type ahead into the search field and have your form completed and ready to tap “Search.”

After the iPhone 2.1 update, Apps no longer crash. This works just as advertised.
