## What is Contacts to Excel & CSV Export?

Contacts to Excel & CSV Export saves your iPhone address book as a real Excel (.xlsx) or CSV file, and imports contacts back from a spreadsheet or vCard. Everything runs on the device: no account, no upload, and it works offline.

To export contacts from your iPhone: open the app, allow contacts access, choose which columns you want, and tap Export. You get a genuine .xlsx workbook with a bold, frozen header row that opens correctly in Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets. Accented and non-Latin names arrive intact, and phone numbers keep their leading + and zeros.

To import contacts into your iPhone: open any .xlsx, .csv or .vcf file. The app matches each column to a contact field, shows you every contact before a single one is added, skips people already in your address book, and can undo the whole run.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-09-18

A new Backup tab, and imports that handle more of your files.

• New Backup tab: save a copy of all your contacts, photos included, and restore it later, or restore from any .vcf file. Contacts you already have are skipped.
• Spreadsheets with column names the app doesn't recognize can now be matched to contact fields by hand, instead of being turned away.
• Line breaks inside Excel cells now come through as real line breaks, not as stray codes in addresses and names.
• Duplicate checks are more accurate: numbers that only share their last digits no longer count as the same contact, cards with just a nickname, company or address are recognized, and changes you make in the Contacts app are picked up right away.
• Very large or damaged files now get a clear message instead of closing the app.
• The Pro screen now tells you when a purchase is waiting for approval or didn't go through.

Smaller Excel files, a fairer limit, and clearer answers when something goes wrong.

• Excel exports are now compressed. A large address book that used to make a 16 MB file now makes one closer to 1 MB, small enough to send as an email attachment.
• Exporting more contacts than the free plan covers now asks you first, with the choice to take the free file or unlock everything, instead of quietly shortening it.
• The Pro screen now explains what import gets you, not only export.
• If reading your contacts fails, the app says so and offers to try again, instead of telling you that you have none.
• Changing columns on a large spreadsheet import no longer makes the screen stutter.
