## Newest reviews (19 of 104)

### 2/5 — Missing a lot of features

*2023-10-10, version 1.24.6*

To start the app is in an annoying spot at the top. I would be happy to upgrade to the paid version to get around that. But there are too many missing features. You can view a few things. But anything such as commenting and approving merge requests, commenting on issues, and anything with pipelines is not a feature. Plus there no dark mode

### 4/5 — Great app, not optimized

*2021-10-31, version 1.24.6*

Not optimized for large screen iPhones, looks weird on my Max.

### 3/5 — Doesn’t render markdown/html

*2021-10-11, version 1.24.6*

Nice to access from phone but it doesn’t render markdown/html

### 1/5 — Worst.app.ever

*2021-10-08, version 1.24.6*

Doesn’t connect. No help. Terrible UI.

I’d love to be able to use it but it isn’t exactly intuitive.

Just remove from AppStore please and save everyone’s time.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2021-10-04, version 1.24.6*

Opening screenstates can’t connect to server when you press Verify Connection. App is a waste of time.

Should be deleted from App Store.

### 1/5 — Numerous problems

*2021-09-07, version 1.24.6*

A project I contribute to uses a self hosted GitLab instance to manage source code, so imagine my delight to find a GitLab app on the App Store. Unfortunately, that delight was immediately washed away when I opened the app.

I keep my devices in dark mode 100% of the time. Opening this app blasted me with white light. It’s 2021. Dark mode is a thing.

Next, I tried to log into my GitLab instance using a password pulled from my password manager. No luck, presumably because I have 2FA enabled.

Next, I notice that approximately 10% of the screen is taken up by a giant banner ad.

The app doesn’t use autolayout, it doesn’t even support modern iPad aspect ratios.

I didn’t get much farther than this, mostly because I don’t particularly care to spend my evening fighting an app that is blinding me each time I look at it.

If you’re looking for a way to interact with GitLab on your iPhone or iPad, just use Mobile Safari.

### 4/5 — Leaves a lot to be desired

*2021-08-04, version 1.24.6*

A bit basic, but good app that works smoothly.

It would be really great for me to have an option to work with multiple GitLab instances at the same time.

My company has a local GL instance that we use for internal projects, library development etc.
Our clients have their own GitLab where we track client’s projects.
Sometimes I also use GL as service.

Having an option to Approve MR would be fantastic.

Option to see all MR assigned to me on the dashboard would also be nice.

### 1/5 — Completely useless

*2021-05-29, version 1.24.6*

Unless you pay. Can’t do anything with the free version with my project. Moving it to GitHub instead.

### 4/5 — Good UI, missing some features.

*2021-04-01, version 1.24.6*

Has most basic things, but missing some required features such as approving MRs

### 1/5 — Does work!

*2021-03-16, version 1.24.6*

Installed ands all I get is a screen that says host and connection, when I click verify I get an error!
Useless. 👎

### 2/5 — Already purchased now ask to purchase again

*2021-02-08, version 1.24.6*

I already purchased upgrade but now after app update these days, ask me to buy upgrade again.

### 3/5 — Great start

*2021-02-03, version 1.24.4*

The UI is great. The features that are developed work well, however my complaint is the lack of support for a lot of the features available on the website.

### 1/5 — Total garbage

*2021-01-30, version 1.24.4*

I was unable to even find and open a project I wanted to browse. Spams you with huge animated banner ads and if you try to search in a group for a project, since you can’t even list them all, it requires you to pay. Don’t waste your time.

### 2/5 — Indexing of codebase doesn’t allow scrolling

*2020-10-12, version 1.24.4*

Would go into a specific directory with about 50-100 folders. View would just snap to bottom and not update no matter what I did. Couldn’t view the code I needed to. Asking for a refund as in this state it is unusable for me.

### 1/5 — Hopeful

*2020-07-05, version 1.24.4*

The app does not allow sign in using SSO. When entering my companies gitlab saml url, which is just a url to a gitlab.com project, along with query string parameters, I receive the error “invalid host”.

### 1/5 — Charged Incorrectly

*2020-06-09, version 1.24.4*

I have been charged accidentally due to app bug. I have sent email for refund.

### 1/5 — Change phone can't restore

*2020-04-17, version 1.24.4*

Change phone can't restore

### 1/5 — I couldn't even login to my account.

*2020-03-07, version 1.24.4*

I have no idea about the app as it does not let me to login.

### 1/5 — "Error service unavailable, try again later"

*2020-02-17, version 1.24.2*

It gives this message when trying to log into gitlab, just after authorizing the service (not provided by gitlab) complete access to my gitlab account. Gitlab itself is online an functional, makes me wonder what other service this app relies on that is apparently broken, rendering the app entirely nonfunctional

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Constantly re-auth

*2026-05-05, version 1.24.8*

This is missing a lot but what’s there is inaccessible because it makes you re auth pretty much every time you launch the app. For those of us with strong MFA this makes it practically impossible to use.

### 1/5 — Too many ads

*2026-02-24, version 1.24.7*

The app would be useful if there wasn’t a massive advert taking 20% of the screen space. I wouldn’t pay for it because it’s not a smooth experience.

### 1/5 — Does not connect in 2023

*2023-10-20, version 1.24.6*

It requests the server name, but is not able to connect to the public default. Seems like this app is non functional at this point.

### 1/5 — Not a real git client.

*2023-06-18, version 1.24.6*

This app is just a web wrapper instead of a real git client. It does not support offline mode. Etc, I must have internet to access my file. Btw, offline mode is the core advantages of git over other sources control.

### 1/5 — Too much ad, source code browsing is a paid upgrade

*2023-04-27, version 1.24.6*

TLDR: stick to gitlab web ui

### 1/5 — Poor

*2022-12-19, version 1.24.6*

Pretty poor. Poor UI, poor ad placement, poor functionality. Poor.

### 1/5 — GitLab tasks

*2022-07-28, version 1.24.6*

Application missing critical information to set in tasks such as epic, due date, can not edit task. As result it is useless for my purpose.

### 1/5 — Struggle fest

*2022-07-01, version 1.24.6*

The app struggles to remember. Event tracking for projects reverts as soon as you click save. Makes it incredibly difficult to take the app seriously

### 1/5 — Not working

*2022-01-17, version 1.24.6*

It doesn’t let me login. An error pops up whenever I click on the verify connection

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work at all

*2021-10-25, version 1.24.6*

I just installed this app.

Clicked “verify connection” and got “cannot connect to server”. That’s with the default server value of “gitlab.com”.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Very helpful

*2021-07-02, version 1.24.6*

Easy to access from mobile.

### 5/5 — Really snappy, if you work with it.

*2019-01-31, version 1.23.3*

I might be biased just because I have already built a very well performing gitlab locally on my home network and because I always buy the advertisement removal due to malicious advertisements existing and it just being less processing for the app to do overall.

I'll support any app that knows what it's doing and this app knows what it's doing if you have a solid connection to your gitlab server and remove the ads.

I like it and see most of the complaints revolve around those two issues. I hope they keep up the good work.

### 5/5 — Incredible Tool

*2018-07-02, version 1.23.0*

Very helpful tool for quick code check. Thank you !

### 5/5 — This is in my "Essential Apps" list!

*2017-04-06, version 1.19.4*

Great work!

### 5/5 — Great issue management tool

*2017-02-08, version 1.18.8*

GitLab Control makes it easy for me to create, edit, and review issues on the go. Its label filtering and editing support allows to view a single column from a Board at a time, as well.

The developer is very responsive and quick to enhance the app as well.

It was especially nice to see all my project info still accessible in the app during GitLab's "oops we accidentally the production database" outage. Bravo!

### 5/5 — Great app! Helpful developer!

*2017-01-29, version 1.18.7*

This is a really nice Git app. Best of the half dozen I've tried. And the developer, Valerio, has been super responsive to my questions and requests!

### 5/5 — The Pro version is Great

*2016-05-08, version 1.16.1*

I oversee a few projects and the Pro version enables me to tackle it on my phone. It's a very enabling app.

### 5/5 — Pro version works well

*2016-05-06, version 1.16.1*

I paid for the pro upgrade and haven't regretted it. Everything that I have wanted to do in the mobile app I have managed to do. The interface is clean and easy to navigate on my 6S Plus. Very handy for browsing, creating and editing issues on the run and viewing activity on projects.

### 5/5 — Excellent interface

*2016-04-16, version 1.15.0*

Love the interface and workflow and that it works with Gitlab enterprise.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2016-03-02, version 1.15.0*

Great to keep track of ongoing activity and make simple edits. Love it.
