What used to be promoted as “hassle-free” detention is now routinely denied by DAT, even when carriers meet every requirement. Common excuses include false claims that: • The carrier left early • The carrier didn’t arrive on time • The carrier failed to log in/out times (when they clearly did) Even manual detention requests get rejected despite solid proof like timestamps and BOL documentation. At this point, why not just remove the automatic detention feature entirely? You’re going to deny it anyway, regardless of compliance. And for the love of God, stop calling it “hassle-free”—it’s anything but. This experience has made the app far less reliable for carriers who depend on fair compensation for wait times. It’s a far cry from the change and difference that Dan Lewis and Grant Goodale set out to change in the trucking industry. Only a very, very special person would take a perfectly working system and mess it up for no reason. Flock freight specifically. They’ll email you all threateningly to send BOL and seal photos BEFORE YOU EVEN PICK UP. Now, they deny you the supposedly "hassle-free" detention pay—even when everything is fully documented, you’ve made the necessary calls to report the situation, and you’ve stamped the hours on the BOLs. I’ve watched them go downhill little by little, to the point where drivers don’t even bother looking their way anymore. It’s a multi-million-dollar company, yet all they want to pay is pennies. It’s a complete lack of respect for this industry.
