## What is Cookbell?

Cookbell is the timer you reach for when one countdown isn't enough.

Dinner is never just one thing. The eggs need six minutes, the pasta nine, the tea is steeping, and the bread is in the oven. A single timer makes you choose. Cookbell runs them all — and now it runs them on your Lock Screen.

ON THE LOCK SCREEN AND DYNAMIC ISLAND
- Every running timer is a Live Activity: countdown, dish name, progress ring
- The count runs on the Lock Screen by itself — no unlocking, no reopening
- Pauses, added minutes, and finishes update in place

SERVE EVERYTHING TOGETHER
- Pick the dishes; Cookbell back-plans the starts so everything lands at once
- The Conductor draws the plan as a timeline — every dish a lane, every lane
landing on the same serve line
- Staged dishes announce themselves when it's their turn to start

TIMERS THAT WORK LIKE A KITCHEN
- Run many timers at once, each with its own name, colour, and alarm sound
- Sequences for multi-step cooking; repeats for laps and intervals
- A stopwatch when you need to count up instead of down
- Add time in one tap when the oven disagrees with the recipe

BUILT-IN KITCHEN REFERENCE
- Doneness temperatures and timing boards for everyday staples
- An altitude adjuster for boiling times that mountain kitchens actually need
- Meal presets: save the whole Sunday roast and launch it in one tap

Cookbell works entirely on this device. No account, no ads, no tracking.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.0 — 2026-08-31

Cookbell 3.0 — your timers, everywhere you look.

LIVE ACTIVITIES — every running timer now appears on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island: the countdown, the dish, and a progress ring, without unlocking your phone. Pause states and added time update live; the countdown itself never needs the app open.

THE CONDUCTOR — Serve Together plans are now drawn as a timeline: every dish is a lane, staggered starts are visible, and every lane lands on the same serve line. The plan you could always build, now the plan you can see.

Everything else stays exactly where you left it — presets, sequences, meal presets, doneness guides, and the altitude adjuster.

### 2.1 — 2026-06-28

Serve Together for saved meals: Cookbell can now calculate when each dish should start so a multi-part meal finishes together. Saved meal cards show a compact serve-time board, and the new Serve Together button stages shorter items with automatic start reminders before their real timers begin.

This update also refreshes notification prompt wording, tightens App Store metadata, and keeps the original Start Now meal launch for cooks who want every timer to begin immediately.

### 2.0.1 — 2026-06-24

This update sharpens the interface: the iPad layout now uses a centered, comfortable reading width instead of stretching edge to edge, so every screen reads as a clean column. iPhone is unchanged; still fully on-device.

### 1.3 — 2026-06-23

What's New in Cookbell 1.3

Meal Presets - save a named collection of timers and start them all in one tap. Build your "Sunday Roast", "Ramen Night", or "Thanksgiving" setup once - choose each timer's duration, name, color, and alarm tone - then tap Start to launch all of them simultaneously. Edit or delete meals any time. Tap the fork-and-knife icon in the Add Timer sheet to open your Meals list.

Save Guide Items as Presets - any entry in the Cooking Guide Timings tab can now be saved directly to your Your Presets list. Tap to expand an item, then tap "Save Preset" alongside the Start Timer button. A confirmation badge confirms the save. Saved items appear at the top of the Presets tab for instant one-tap access.

Altitude Adjustment for Boiling Times - living above sea level? Go to Settings -> Cooking Guide -> My Elevation and choose your elevation tier (2,500 / 5,000 / 7,500 / 10,000 ft). Boiling-sensitive items (eggs, pasta, grains) in the Timings tab are automatically adjusted by the CSU Extension formula (+30 sec per 1,000 ft for eggs; +30 sec per 1,000 ft for pasta and grains). A mountain badge in the guide header confirms the adjustment is active. Poached eggs and pan-cooked items are unchanged.

### 1.2 — 2026-06-15

What's New in Cookbell 1.2

Temperature & Doneness Guide — a new Temps tab inside the Cooking Guide, covering 29 cuts and foods with their USDA safe minimum temperatures, chef's preferred target ranges, rest times, and visual doneness indicators. Beef (rare through well-done, ground, roast), pork (chops, pulled, ribs), poultry (breast, thigh, whole chicken, turkey), fish and seafood (salmon, shrimp, scallops, lobster), lamb, eggs, ham, and reheating / the danger zone. All data is offline and USDA-sourced. Switch between °F and °C with one tap.

Timer History — the last 50 completed timers are now logged automatically. Open Settings → History to see what ran, when it finished, and tap "Run Again" to re-use it instantly. Perfect for repeating a cook ("how long did I do those potatoes?").

Stopwatch Mode — a new Timer / Stopwatch toggle in the Custom tab lets you start a count-up instead of a countdown. The card shows elapsed time, a stopwatch icon in the ring, and the same Pause and Reset controls. Great for braising, smoking, proofing dough, or any task where you need to know how long something has been going, not how long is left.
