### 3/5 — I prefer the old interface

*2026-08-15, version 3.1.025*

I miss the blue colour scheme, the orange/red makes me feel like I’m reading those stressful website recipes. There is also just a lot of red everywhere, which is stressful (and cooking is stressful enough!) Secondly, I miss being able to choose between tabs (ingredients, instructions) to edit. Now that it’s all in one, it’s less user friendly.

### 5/5 — My paprika replacement

*2026-07-26, version 3.1.025*

I was disappointed with the direction of my former recipe app and spent quite a while trying replacements. Cookbook recipe manager met all my requirements and is a pleasure to use. Importing over 3000 recipes went flawlessly. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Excellent recipe app!

*2026-07-25, version 3.1.025*

I did a TON of research to find the absolute best recipe app in existence, and this is by far the best! Converts recipes flawlessly from social media like facebook, and it also scans printed and even handwritten recipes. 100% worth the cost!

### 4/5 — Love but need childrens access

*2026-07-24*

I love this app, I’ve collected a lot of recipes and love to access to them whilst on holiday etc. I do think it’s worth the money - I pay yearly.

But. As a busy mum I sometimes want someone else to cook- the children! To use the recipes I need to screen shot each page as my their devices are locked down by school after school hours. I can send them a what’s app but it doesn’t give them a photo of what it’s supposed to look like which is hard for a beginner cook. I’d really love a family/household account where we could all browse the recipes and use a recipe with someone (me!) managing it. I obviously don’t want to pay for 4 subscriptions though!
I’d give it 5 stars if it was a family app!

**Developer response:** This is such a helpful bit of feedback, 167jskd49, thank you. We’re really glad CookBook has become useful enough to travel with you, and it’s lovely to hear you feel it’s worth the yearly subscription.

We completely understand the family use case here. A household setup where recipes can be browsed and used by family members, without everyone needing to manage the main collection, would be a really useful addition. It’s something we’d love to explore as CookBook keeps growing.

Thanks for explaining the situation so clearly. Feedback like this is genuinely helpful when we’re deciding what to improve next. Happy Cooking! 🍳😊

### 5/5 — ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely love this app! A game changer in the kitchen 🌱🍽️

*2026-07-24, version 3.1.025*

Cookbook has completely transformed how I plan, shop and cook meals. As a vegetarian, I really appreciate how easy it is to save and organize all my favourite plant-based recipes in one place. The interface is clean, simple, and super intuitive — it just works.

One of the best features is the shopping list — I can instantly add ingredients from any recipe and organize my list by category, which makes grocery trips so much quicker. But the real magic is the ingredient-based suggestions. I often find myself with random things in the fridge, and this app actually helps me figure out what I can make with what I already have. It’s saved me from wasting food so many times!

If you’re looking for an easy, smart way to manage your meals and never get stuck wondering “what’s for dinner?” again, I can’t recommend Cookbook enough. It’s like having a personal kitchen assistant in your pocket. 💚

### 5/5 — The best recipe app

*2026-07-21, version 3.1.025*

It’s so easy to add recipes from pretty much anywhere. I also have the app on my tablet and use it when following recipes. You can cross out as you go. You can make shopping list and it has a meal planner. It’s great! I love it!

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2026-07-09, version 3.1.025*

Been using this app from the very early days of development and I love it. I use it all the time, have thousands of recipes and love that I can download recipes directly from social media!

### 5/5 — Accidental deletions

*2026-07-07*

My family and I share this app and we love it. The only suggestion I would like to make is that there be certain time allowance to retrieve accidentally deleted recipes.

**Developer response:** So lovely to hear your family is enjoying CookBook together, TimAnon. We really appreciate the 5 stars and the kind words.

A way to recover accidentally deleted recipes within a certain time window is a sensible suggestion, and we’ll definitely keep it in mind as we continue improving the app. Thanks for taking the time to share the feedback. Happy Cooking! 🍳😊

### 5/5 — Just what we needed

*2026-07-03, version 3.1.010*

One place to collect recipes from any source. Edit them now or after your tastes change next year. Calculate nutrition. Organize. Tag.

### 5/5 — Great App for Saving g Online Recipes

*2026-07-02, version 3.1.010*

I use this app all the time for saving and filing away my favorite recipes and having an organized in one place I can use it on my phone in the kitchen iPad or my computer. It just makes saving recipe so much easier.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2026-07-01*

I’m not, what I would call, a ‘fancy’ cook, but I entertain extended family at home a lot, and I’m always looking for new recipes that will be stress free. I didn’t want to pay for a recipe app, thinking I wouldn’t use it enough to justify it, but I ended up paying for this one. Soooo glad I did! I’ve thrown it some massive tests, like a recipe video from Facebook, in German - no problems (just need to translate it - it provides the translation options) - or a video in English, but it sources all the ingredients and directions from … I don’t know where?! Import - choose app - wait 5 sec - done! Amazing!! I don’t know what I paid for this app, and I don’t care. Absolutely the best money I’ve spent on an App!

**Developer response:** Oh wow, this was such a fun review to read! We love that CookBook has managed to win you over, especially after putting it through some serious recipe import tests.

It’s brilliant to hear it’s helping make recipe saving, entertaining and trying new things feel easier. Thanks so much for taking the time to share this, and for supporting CookBook. Happy Cooking! 🍳😊

### 5/5 — Such a great app

*2026-07-01, version 3.1.005*

I love the app. I got it a few years ago and it just keeps getting better and better.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-06-24, version 3.0.245*

This app is so easy to use. Easy to download from Facebook, Instagram & from a favorite cookbook. Makes finding recipes & making a grocery list so much easier.

### 4/5 — Perfect for all your TikTok Recipes

*2026-06-24, version 3.0.245*

I downloaded the app to try and organise all the recipes my family would find on TikTok and send to me. It has been amazing to export the videos to the app for a whole collection in one place. I search the app for a recipe, and have the ingredients on one screen and a screen for the method/instructions. The only downfall I’ve found is not being able to share it with my partner and husband so they can add their own TikToks. Other than that it has been perfect.

### 5/5 — This app is *chef’s kiss*

*2026-06-23, version 3.0.245*

This is an example of an app that does EXACTLY what you want it to do, and has even added some features recently that are shockingly convenient (like one-click importing from Instagram). It is so satisfying to use and makes recipe management/use so easy. Best $10 I spend every year.

### 5/5 — The best app you’ll ever have!

*2026-06-21*

I’ve always loved this app for its ease of use and excellent features to import recipes and keep your recipes organized. You can easily import recipes from websites by copying and pasting the URL or sending it to the Cookbook app. It’s way easier to follow recipes on this than how they often are on a website, full of ads. You can change the serving amount and it adjusts the recipe automatically. And now it’s even more spectacular with the added AI feature. You can scan or take a picture of a recipe and it scans it in to all the sections on the recipe easily! You can add tags to easily find recipes in many categories and even add your own tags such as Cold Dinners for hot days. It’s also easy to share recipes and print as a perfect looking PDF. They truly thought of everything. Thank you for making our lives so much easier!

**Developer response:** Thanks passegg! What an incredible review, and thank you for coming back to update it. We really appreciate you taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback, and it means so much that CookBook has become such a useful part of how you save, organise and cook from your recipes.

It’s especially lovely to hear the newer tools are making things even easier for you. Reviews like this genuinely mean a lot to us, so thank you again for your support and for being part of CookBook over the years. Happy Cooking! 🍳😊

### 5/5 — Ease of use

*2026-06-21, version 3.0.245*

Easy to save recipes. Easy to navigate

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — So much of what I liked was stripped out

*2026-08-09, version 3.1.025*

I loved this app. However the recent updates are having me look for a new one. Price dramatically increased from $12/year or $60 lifetime to $39.99 per year only. The organization of the app changed and all new recipes are being shoved in my face that I don’t want. There is no longer html exports which was a feature I searched for and it was not replaced by another universal format such as JSON. They do have YAML but apparently they arrange the data ins proprietary fashion. I’m looking around for a new app after being extremely happy and raving about cookbook for two years.

### 1/5 — Crashes on load - cannot use

*2026-06-27, version 3.0.245*

Used this app for a few years. Latest update made the app crash on load. Completely unusable. No way to login online. Not even a ‘forgot my password’ option! Such a shame.

### 1/5 — Lost All My Recipes

*2026-05-12, version 3.0.245*

I had been using this app for awhile and decided to update it. They updated to some sort of subscription model and I lost all my recipes and instructions stored here. Terrible App.

### 1/5 — Big downgrade since version 3

*2026-02-19, version 3.0.245*

I used to really love this app. It was the best way to organize recipes and shopping lists. Ever since the 3.0 update, it’s gotten much worse. I will give one example to illustrate, but please understand that it represents more issues.

In the shopping list page I want to rename my list. There are two icons that have three dots in them. Bot of them bring up the same menu of options (which has its own issues) but the menu doesn’t contain an option to rename the shopping list. (Why are there two buttons for the same menu to begin with?) There is another button of three lines in the upper left, so I’ll try that. That brings up the master menu for the app, which is already somewhat duplicated in the bottom bar, and it doesn’t have the option to rename the menu. There is a pencil icon too - maybe that’s what I’m looking for? No that’s for selecting items in the list. Finally there is an icon in the upper right that has three lines. That one brings up the list of all my shopping lists. Each of which has another menu icon next to it. That’s the one I have to tap on to rename the menu.

But Please note!! I don’t mean to say that you should fix this one thing and the app will be fine, what I mean to illustrate is a pervasive sense of lack of user experience. I’m very disappointed because I expected to use this app for a long time, and it was relatively expensive for the lifetime membership. Honestly if I could revert to version 2.2.295 I would.

### 1/5 — Absolute trash!

*2025-12-30, version 3.0.245*

Couldn’t get past the set up phase. Stuck in authentication hell.

### 1/5 — Everything deleted

*2025-12-18, version 3.0.245*

Pretty upset. I’ve had this app for a while and used it lots but haven’t for a few months. Tried to add a new recipe today and when I signed back in it now has a paid subscription and everything that was in there has been deleted. I’m really gutted I’ve lost all my recipes and won’t be trusting it in the future. Back to a Google Doc I guess

### 1/5 — Do not buy any subscriptions

*2025-11-13, version 3.0.235*

I bought the permanent premium a few years ago. It said lifetime. Turns out lifetime is only like 2 years long. All they do is take your money then change the rules. Do not trust

### 1/5 — The new update is awful

*2025-09-28, version 3.0.235*

September 2025 update: so I’m back, and have lowered my review from 2 stars down to 1 star. I can only imagine they had to appease investors or something, for the way they’ve absolutely wrecked their app.

Adding a text recipe is very clunky, when it should be arguably the easiest thing to do: The very first thing that comes up is an ingredients window. Uh ok. So you type out the ingredients and then click a green check with the word “Confirm.” A green check mark with the word “confirm” implies completion. It tells the user “click here when you’re done,” however, on Cookbook, it means “proceed to the next section.” That’s confusing. So now onto the next section …which is a disorganized, visually noisy page, where you can finally add a recipe title, add tags, a has a big annoying purple button to add an AI IMAGE (what???) Now where do I add the instructions? Oh. There it is. A very small, out of the way section toward the bottom.

Onto notes: on recipes, you can put little notes for yourself, that will appear on the main page of the recipe when you open it. Did you know you had to press and drag, and that there is an invisible bar on the side? Neither did it. They have compressed the notes section so only a very small section of your notes will show, and start to gray out/disappear toward the bottom. You’ll instinctively try to tap on it, thinking it will expand the text. Nothing. You will have to tap press hold and drag and a little side scroll will magically appear to let you scroll through your notes. Again, not intuitive.

You guys I’m sorry and I know you’re going to double down on this but… this update is not meant for those of us who were there from the beginning. Those of us who paid for the app, and dedicated hours, who used this in our professional kitchens and offices with staff. This app was made to impress someone (who? Teens on TikTok?) with jazzy AI features and a completely disorganized and not UI friendly structure.

### 1/5 — Got hacked as soon as I downloaded

*2025-09-07, version 3.0.235*

I downloaded the app, signed in with my apple account, started to customize the app, it locked up, and when I reopened it immediately got a security alert from Gmail! Opened the account info on the app and someone else’s email was in the account.

### 1/5 — Last update is bad

*2025-08-31, version 3.0.235*

Last update changed everything. Not easy to use anymore, not simple. It even changed the measurements of the ingredients which now I have to go and individually correct because it automatically changed with the update. Deleting the app and finding a new one.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Just excellent

*2026-08-25, version 3.1.030*

Areal game changer. Works across all platforms. Bravo.

### 5/5 — Best recipe keeper around

*2026-08-18, version 3.1.025*

I’ve been using cookbook for a few years now, and it’s fantastic. Easy to import recipes from both the web, social media and other cookbooks. It’s great to navigate and edit recipes with your own twist if needed. Highly recommend and definitely worth every penny!

### 5/5 — Loving It!

*2026-08-17, version 3.1.025*

This app has been awesome! I don’t mind paying for an app that’s useful. There are small things I would change, but overall it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for.

### 5/5 — Love this app!!!

*2026-08-15, version 3.1.025*

I tried recime it sucked rarely worked without tinkering... This app is spot on. It will download recipes from video, create a shopping list, give me the ability to keep notes, make edits to personal preference, rate the recipes, and export a shopping list into another app to have groceries delivered. Can't believe how much time I spend with this.... if I like a recipe, I give it a rating... if I don't like it, I delete the recipe out of the app or give it a one star. I feel like I'm walking around with 35 cookbooks. I can show my family a recipe and ask themhow they feel about it before I cook it by email including a how to video... so worth the money!!!!

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2026-08-13, version 3.1.025*

Perfect across all my apples devices! I love this app. It imports and formats recipes beautifully! Good job developers. I’m finally organized.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2026-08-07, version 3.1.025*

I wouldn’t be without this cook book. It’s brilliant. So easy to save recipes. Take your own photos. Add notes. Keep track of cooking progress. Built in timers. Plan meals and so much more. You can declutter all your books into this one app and then find everything easily.

### 5/5 — Great Organizer

*2026-08-06, version 3.1.025*

I've been using Cookbook for a little over a year and this thing is amazing. No longer do I have to try to figure out where I put the recipe. I just import it into here, search for a few keywords, and I can immediately pull it up. I can rate it. I can actually rate it and then if it's not good I rate it as bad and then now I know not to cook it again because I don't know about y'all. Sometimes you see something, it looks amazing, and you cook it and it looks not good and you cook it again a year later. I don't do that anymore.

Anyway this is a great app, totally worth the money, super easy to import anything either from a good cookbook site, from Insta, or just starting to write your own recipe. The AI is great on it. Highly recommend just go ahead and buy the version

### 5/5 — MY

*2026-08-06, version 3.1.025*

Really useful and easily used app. I have accumulated lots of delicious recipes from many sources online and also added others manually.

### 5/5 — Très aboutie

*2026-08-02*

Happy Cooking! 🍳😊

### 5/5 — Best Recipe Importer

*2026-08-01, version 3.1.025*

I’ve tried them all and no app does a recipe import into your cookbook better than this app. What I love most of all is their dev group’s response to fix bugs asap.
