### 2/5 — PDF is a joke

*2024-07-21, version 2.3*

I subscribed to Cooks Country via this app for years. When COVID hit it was understandable that the cool features of the app would be suspended and a simple PDF of the print version would be used. YEARS later it was still a PDF. None of the features I’d paid for with the app are available because “everyone is working from home”. This assertion is made despite photos of staff gathered together, etc. I canceled my subscription and will not renew as long as the pandemic excuse for shoddy work persists!

### 2/5 — New covid online issues

*2021-02-03, version 2.0*

Love the magazine! Totally dislike the new format that they are blaming on “working from home”.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2019-09-01, version 2.0*

I’ve been a subscriber to the app for years now and am pretty disappointed in the newest update. Any of the back issues before this year are just PDF copies of the paper magazines. All of the step-by-steps are gone. I liked the app version for these extra features. The current year has this, but once the year is over, I’m sure those will be converted over as well. Seriously considering unsubscribing.

### 3/5 — Where are my saved recipes?!

*2019-07-06, version 2.0*

New redesign is nice, but I lost all my “favorited” recipes! Now I wish I had the hard copies with my little flags on the recipes I wanted to try eventually.

### 1/5 — They want you to pay twice?

*2018-07-15, version 1.5*

I already subscribe

### 1/5 — What the....?

*2018-05-18, version 1.5*

I subscribe to Cooks Country and Cooks Illustrated. In addition I have an all-access membership to ATK, etc. These subscriptions/membership cost plenty as it is. Now you want me to pay more for digital access to the magazine? Thanks, but no thanks.

### 2/5 — Great recipes, but...

*2016-07-29, version 1.4*

I keep hoping ATK will fix this app. Great recipes, but unusable as a cooking aid. When you find a recipe you like, you can't do anything with it. You can't save it, you can't print it... I finally started taking screenshots, but most recipes don't fit on one page, so you end up with a recipe over several pictures.

I've had this a couple of years and like everything about it, except for this HUGE problem. I have an iPad full of screenshots and don't go use them because I don't know how to find what I want. Printing from the screenshots would involve a lot of cutting and pasting.

ATK is great at everyone they do. Why has this taken so long to fix? I don't think I'll continue the subscription.

### 3/5 — Needs improvement

*2015-09-13, version 1.4*

Nice to always have a magazine at your fingertips, but this experience needs improvement. First of all, there is no way to fit an entire recipe in one screen. When I'm cooking, I don't want to have to scroll with dirty hands or to stop and wash/dry before touching my screen. There is no way to print a recipe or send it to my iPhone in case I want to check ingredients while grocery shopping. The videos that are attached with some recipes are a nice touch though.

### 1/5 — What good is this?

*2015-02-15, version 1.4*

All this does is let you subscribe to the magazine. This is useless for those of us who already have an online subscription and just want the ease of an app. No ease here!

### 2/5 — Love the recipes but...

*2014-11-16, version 1.4*

I have always love the recipes from Cooks Country and was excited to get the app, however, It doesn't seem like you can share recipes and the icon for this app doesn't show up on my home screen!! Please fix!

### 2/5 — Ios8 update

*2014-09-23, version 1.3*

This magazine was great until I downloaded iOS 8. I haven't had the time to call cooks country to try and fix it. Very disappointed!

### 2/5 — IOS8

*2014-09-20, version 1.3*

App was great prior to update. Now it crashes. Please address asap!

### 1/5 — What's the problem?

*2014-09-19, version 1.3*

I am trying to access the October/November issue but I keep getting kicked out. Does this have anything to do with the release of IOS 8? If so, when will this app be updated?

I have no problem with my other subscriptions. This is very frustrating.

### 1/5 — IOS8 broke it

*2014-09-18, version 1.3*

After upgrading to iOS 8, all issues disappeared. Clicking download does nothing. Crashes the app. Hoping for a quick fix!

### 1/5 — All Access does not work with this app

*2023-07-25, version 2.0*

I bought the all access subscription for CI, ATK and CC. I downloaded the apps and was able to log into ATK. No luck with CI and CC. Called support and they said their apps do not work with Safari. I canceled my subscription as all I have is IOS and MacOS devices. If it doesn’t work with the native browser then why bother creating the app? My advice, don’t waste your time if the technology decisions do not allow it work properly.

### 1/5 — Dissatisfaction

*2022-11-15, version 2.0*

I am reluctant to making any future purchases. Be careful!!!

### 1/5 — Fix it!

*2020-01-11, version 2.0*

Fix your web sites, How often do you expect your customer to log in!? Once per session is enough! Fix it or lose me!

### 1/5 — Cook’s Country says they are not responsible for this app.

*2019-11-22, version 2.0*

The new update is worthless. Called to ask about changes in the online magazine. I was told they have Nothing to do with this App. I should call “whoever does” I was told on the phone they don’t know who to talk to. There are a step by step instructions on some recipes. Which I did find very helpful. Recently they changed the instructions on the step by step. It has become useless. It is odd that Cook’s Country won’t claim this as their magazine and can’t tell who to talk to.

### 1/5 — A worthless iPad app

*2019-11-19, version 2.0*

Runs only in miniature portrait mode, saving is impossible. Since Chris left this site is headed for the outhouse.

### 1/5 — Where are my favorites????

*2019-09-09, version 2.0*

I loved this app until now, I can no longer save or access my favorite recipes. Older issues are in magazine form I can longer scroll to how to make step by step instructions and additional info is no longer available. Extremely Disappointed, will probably cancel my subscription.

### 1/5 — Already subscribe. I have to pay AGAIN?

*2019-07-29, version 2.0*

I already subscribe to Cooks Country magazine. In order to access the same content on this app I have to pay even more?? No thanks.

### 1/5 — Want us to pay TWICE?

*2019-01-27, version 1.5*

I subscribe to the magazine and to the on-line version, and now to use the app they want me to pay for that too. This is a lousy way to treat loyal customers. Terrible app, lousy customer appreciation.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2018-08-26, version 1.5*

Paid for a year membership through ATK. But can find NO RECIPES on this app. No search option???

### 1/5 — You are kidding

*2018-08-20, version 1.5*

I pay for the magazine and an all-access membership and now they want me to pay to view it online. Are you kidding me? Hey Cooks: you just lost a customer for everything and I will NOT be spending another cent with you.

Besides Chris Kimball started Milk Street and it gives me fresh recipes instead of Cooks just redoing the old stuff like Hollywood movie reboots.

Free at last! Free at Last! Thank god almighty free at last!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Start cooking

*2020-03-13, version 2.0*

Well researched and designed recipes.

### 5/5 — Lost Favorites and Restore not working

*2019-12-25, version 2.0*

I relied on your Prime Rib with Vegetables recipe every year for Christmas and had it set as a favorite to access it quickly. Now, not only is the favorite lost and I had to spend 20 minutes looking for it, but when I try to open the issue you’re trying to charge me again to download it. Restore purchases says its successful but clearly it’s not given that this one isn’t restoring. Now it’s Christmas morning and I have to come up with another plan instead of spending time with my family.

Cook’s has gone downhill ever since the last editor left.

### 5/5 — Great! My subscription still available

*2018-12-13, version 1.5*

5 years ago I subscribed on a phone I no longer have. When I logged in on my new iPad my magazines were there waiting for me! Plus the years since are available to purchase should I wish! Save your magazines and save space!

### 5/5 — COOKING MAG APP VIRGIN

*2018-03-12, version 1.5*

I got my first iPad ever almost a year ago and decided to try getting my Cook’s Country magazines via this app. I have gotten the “old school” paper magazines since the very beginning so I am a hard core CC fan. I have had very little trouble getting around within the app and the excellent instructions have helped. So far I am liking the experience.

### 5/5 — Unbelievable

*2017-11-18, version 1.5*

Have been reading this magazine for years. Never new about the app. It's the bomb! Love it and have shared with my friends. Thanks for developing it. Keep up the great work.

### 5/5 — Love It!!

*2013-01-29, version 1.0*

I love the show and it led me to this subscription. Beautiful content and layout, excellent recipes, easy to follow. Got a free preview (for those who want to see what they are getting) but immediately paid. Great deal, too. $20 for 6 issues compared to $30 for print.

### 5/5 — AWESOME

*2012-12-14, version 1.0*

I am so impressed with this. <3 I love it even more than it's sister app "Cook's Illustrated". The recipes are flawless as usual - because they are tested thoroughly… REALLY thoroughly. If you like good home cooking, well tested recipes, that are easy to prepare (a step by step guide with pictures for the majority of recipes), then try this app. You'll have the following at your fingertip:

- Recipes that in the majority are easy to follow thanks to a step-by-step guide with pictures
- eight 30-Minute Supper recipes in each edition
- taste tests
- equipment tests
- lost recipes
- a slow cooker recipe in each edition
- a recipe makeover (leaner version) in each edition
- a recipe for two people (for smaller households) in each edition
- one recipe in five different variations in each edition
- helpful hints in many of the recipes
- kitchen shortcuts
- Q&A, and much more

I will gift a years subscription for this app to a friend for Christmas.

### 5/5 — It is a subscription app.

*2012-10-12, version 1.0*

It drives me crazy when people rate a magazine bad because it is not free. The app is free! You pay for the magazine subscription. This is a really good magazine you pay $1.99 a issue when you decide to subscribe monthly. That is a very fair price considering it will cost you about $5.00 a issue in the store. Smarten up people.

### 5/5 — Good

*2012-10-03*

This is a very nice magazine as I used to get this in the mail and have been waiting for the iPad version. It has so much information for cooking and is a GREAT magazine to have. Thanks to the developer for making this available. I will be purchasing the year subscription when my seven day trial is over.
To those who wanted to preview this magazine- you have several days before you are charged the $1.99 and if you do not like it just cancel before you are charged. It is free if you want to check it out. I opt to get the year.

### 4/5 — Nice way to read CC

*2017-09-24, version 1.5*

This easy-to-navigate app is bright and full of helpful content. Only complaint: it should be easier to link recipes to their internet versions so I can save them easily on recipe collecting apps like Paprika.
